Different taste, different music, personally i am a huge fan of Jeremey soul, the OP obviously not. And even that they took in consideration with Anet, as they allow everyone to play his own music ingame.
Which is good as even the best music gets stale after 3 years of continous playing.

Exactly.
I really liked the music in the game, but I will change that music after listening to it for a while, it's so easy in GW2

Originally posted by Butregenyo OP you are really, but seriously really the first person on earth i saw that didnt like that piece by Jeremy Soule. Music in GW2 is like a whole different aspect that wins the game.
I'm not much of a conformist. I do love my game music. But Jeremy Soule just doesn't quite sell it. It feels text book run of the mill. Perhaps it is because I've heard better music and am spoiled? Therefore my ears crave for some thing more satisfying.
Or maybe people just have different tastes? That would be a bit more respectful towards those who like Jeremy Soule.

OP, please edit your title to 'Guild Wars 2 music not appealing TO ME' ?
It would save a lot of pointless white noise and clarify where you are coming from, and that you are not making a blanket claim about what is appealing to other people or not (which would be a blatantly stupid thing to do) and that you're not trying to act superior to others because you don't like something they do (which, again, would be a stupid thing to do).
Huge fan of Jeremy Soule and like GW2 music a lot so far.
He has been called the John Williams of Video Games and with reason. See? his music is not meant to be centerpiece, BUT to subtly upgrade your experience.
In Skyrim, for example, the music changes depending what you are doing. You have quiet, subtle pieces when navigating nature and the beautiful environment because THEY are the centerpiece. Then you meet a dragon and the epic fighting music starts to add Adrenaline to you and spice to the fight... but again, the DRAGON is the centerpiece, the music enhance that.
It shows something quite unique.... that Soule is aware of what the game is doing when the music plays.. it is not just music composed as is... but it is meant to be listened at certain parts of the game. Like John Williams music. Now in movies this has become more common, but in games... much less so.
Yes, you have fighting games with hard rock or metal pieces for combat music... but they have usually no unity with the action, beside they are fast and furious pieces.

Tbh, OP, I love Jeremy Soul, but just dislike how much trumpet he used in his compositions for GW2.

That's why my GW2 soundtrack will eventually be from Two Steps from Hell, I already have a few playlists for combat/exploration even for underwater and the main menu. Of course, after I get bored of the original GW2 music

While technically maybe a bit weaker they seem to have more inspiration and "epicness". That is what I am missing a bit when listening to some Souls tunes.
I thank the OP for posting a link to the main theme, so people can listen for themselves.
Taste in music is totally subjective, as evidenced by the utter crap that often hits the top 40 billboard list, or makes completely untalented "artists" quite wealthy.
I find the GW2 soundtrack excellent and very iconic. I've heard that main theme hundreds of times watching various GW2 videos and I still find it very stirring, but to each there own.
The cool thing about GW2 is it allows you to import your own music and play lists. You can even match what music plays based on a number of categories. If there is music you think is better, you can over-ride the GW2 soundtrack with your own choices!
But the norn theme you linked... ROFL! ''TOoot toot toot tut toot BOM BOM BOMBOOOM TOOT toot tot TOOoott!''
You may want to get past the first notes and listen the full piece... but whatever, as I said, to each his own. For me, that piece sounds epic like the Norns should be, specially later when the drums come in. And I never had problems with horns or any other wind instruments either, so that's maybe why I enjoy those tunes.
This said, another kind of "epic" music I love beside the obvious John Williams (the master!) or Howard Shore, is the soundtrack of Kingdom of Heaven (Ridley Scott movie, composer Harry Gregson-Williams) or the music of The 13th Warrior (composer Jerry Goldsmith).
I absolutely love most of what I've heard from the GW2 soundtrack. I think what it is for me with that piece in particular is it's not as jarring as some music games typically use. Doesn't have the heavy drum beat with the shouting chorus chanting in the background. It has a more peaceful sound, which I guess is something I like and a nice change.
Taste in music usually applies when it comes to different genres. These are in the same genre and are comparable.
Uh, no, taste in music can apply within the same genre. It's not like if you like classical music, you have to like all the same composers in the same order as everybody else, or there's something wrong with you.
People can like one rapper and not another. One pop artist and not another. ... and so on and so on.
Taste in music can be as specific as liking and disliking different songs by the same artist. It's not like everybody has the same favorite Beatles' song (Or even likes the Beatles)
Like I said, apparently people are unfamiliar with this concept, thanks for illustrating my point.
I didn't say it's impossible to compare, of course you can compare. That's not what my statement said at all. My statement was more a comment on how taste is not based off of some objective standard where people are automatically lying if they claim to prefer one song over another because it's physically impossible.

Personally, I love the score to this game.

I like Jeremy Soule's work a lot. His style is dreamy and nostalgic and it creates a good atmosphere in many games.

Well yes - musical taste is very subjective and the OP has a valid opinion which actually doesn't need any further evidenciary backup.
With music - you either like it or you don't.
I would give the music a strong 7/10 - because I do love a good deal of it, but some is distinctly lacklustre.

I like this one from gw2 a lot.
In my opinion the main themes from Europa Universalis 3 or Crusader Kings 2 by Andreas Waldetoft or something could fit more to GW2.

... so if people think it does, or is better, are you going to accuse them of being dishonest?
It's like people here are unfamiliar with the concept 'taste in music'
I mean, there are whole RADIO stations dedicated to types of music most people dislike.
I must admit, in terms of being obtrusive the soundtrack of GW2 doesn't even come close to this.
