Is any one else a little underwhelmed by the music of Guild Wars 2? I haven't been listening to it much until recently. How ever once I did. Some one used one word to describe it as 'forgettable' and I'm inclined to agree.
As the example above. It started out good until 10 seconds in where it became a jumbled mess. It seems like they wanted to make an epic track, but got carried away and added more noise to assault your ears with. It's like mixing all these awesome colours together, only to end up with brown. Rather than keeping it simple and progressively flowing like for example.
Could be perhaps that I prefer strings over horn in orchestral pieces. We all have our musical preferences. How ever, I'm just wondering if any one feels the same or explain how the music appeals to you.
Are you screwing with me?! You actually think that the music of WoW's 3rd expac is better than that of Jerry Soule? That's just blowing smoke out a tail pipe! There's no way. He not only did GW1 and GW2, he also did Skyrim.
To each his (or her) own. The LOTR (the movie) and GW2 soundtracks are some of my favorite as well as the Oblivion one. Having said that, I love listening to music when I game so I'll probably burn out on the music after a while and just listen to my own anyways.
Jeremy Soule is without a doubt my favorite video game composer of all time. His music just moves me. I remember his music before I remember details about the games themselves. Suffice to say, no I love the GW2 main theme and everything else. It's music so it's very subjective of course.
I don't know. The only game that really did anything worth a darn with music in my mind is Red Dead Redemption. Anyone that played the game probably knows what I'm talking about. Those who haven't are really missing out on how dynamic and emersive music can actually be in a game. Sort of off topic, but meh.

Oh Snap you bit your own tong here dude, imo Jeremy Soule is one of the most acomplished video game composer in the world. So much so that your beloved WoW got him to do the music for MoP expansion, guess you didn't know that before making this thread.....
Oh snap, who's the Btch now LOL......WoW wants some great music to now eh jajajajajajaja.

In part it could very well be just an opinion about musical taste, however, I have the sinking sensation this is just another bash GW2 thread. It seems that people will look for anything and on any basis (facts, opinions, etc) just for an excuse to trash GW2. I'm not saying that is what the OP is doing, but at least to me it sure does feel that way.
Kind of off topic but I like this music, wish we could have something similar to this in GW2. Or if anyone knows of music such as this in GW2, please link me or tell me location/area/activity you were doing

Great song...
When hearing that song I imagined exploring Orr and discovring all the horrors that old kingdom has endured; mournful yet dark, I like it!
It may be a long shot, but still worth a try, why not email Anet devs with a link to that song and see what they say.

I like,
simple yet very powerful.
This type of music in GW2 cinematics would be awesome.

Rofl wishful thinking but unfortunately won't happen. Song owned by Roit Games and I don't see them letting Arenanet just have rights to it
Originally posted by heartless I love the music in GW2. However, if you don't like it, I believe that the game has a built in music player. Which I plan to use since I preffer something a little upbeat when I PvP.
I think I am going to mix up my Eve Online Soundtrack with some GW2, especially Minmatar Rock when it comes to WvWvW. This should be interesting. Thats is cool if GW2 has a Jukebox as well, I did not know this.

I wasn't implying that they would purchase the rights to the song for the game; but maybe if they like it enough they can make a song or music which is similar in mood and theme. What's the worst they can say: "thank you but no thank you". Send the email with a link to the song and pitch it to them and let us know what they tell you. I would be very interested to see what they say.
BTW, I've download the song from youtube and am listening to it on repeat... I'm liking it more and more ;-)

Hehe, I'll give it a try. Hmm maybe you like this one too, it's abit "heavier", I don't know how to explain it:
I like the music from WoW and GW2 just fine, they're very different. I agree though that if Soule had concentrated on horn in his pieces, it would get distracting, but I've actually heard some of the tracks, namely Fields of Green(?) that are absolutely beautiful string pieces and kind of shoot your argument down, and the game's not even released yet. There should be tracks to please everyone in the game.

Don't want to post too many other music or it'll go off topic
haha, you and I completely see eye to eye when it comes to gaming music; I like that one as well. Maybe we should start a thread asking posters to link music/songs they think are the best or that they think are worth having in GW2 (or in any mmo).
Can´t say I agree, Jeremy Soul is good as usual. Ok, maybe he did the first GWs music somewhat better but it is still good.
Not AoC good but better than most MMOs anyways.
Then again, cant say I really care one way or another since I usually play my own music in the background of any game. Some Rob Zombie and Rhapsody tends to brighten up any game for me.
And honestly, since a lot of my time spent in GW2 will be with friends, I'll probably have the music off anyway, regardless of how good it is. Otherwise I won't be able to hear them lol
I did the same thing with WoW and usually forgot to turn the music back on later.

Funny how Blizzard always copy and now they've got him to do the Music to MoP as well rofl...
I guess is all about tastes...but i find GW soundtrack simply epic.
Jeremy Soule is pure genius!
Love the piano theme: http://youtu.be/UHFF6gnfIsg

If you want a more strings oriented song I would recommend this one:

Yeah, that one has been mentioned a couple of times already and I agree that it's great. One of the ones that I like the most is this one:
