You know what a fact would be? if the BoDs came and said hey there will be no cash shop and before we even go to that level we will shut down our doors.
LOL, I hate to break everyones feelings, but there WILL BE a cash shop in game. You can buy vanity items and services in it. They already said this in one of their videos.
I personally love the idea and to me, its a way for fans to show support for the figures and sales figures of a game they love.

You wouldn't by any chance be talking about one of those German interview videos that Zenimax put out a statement saying the comment was misconstrued, would you?

I must admit its in one of the vidoes where one of the devs said it, I been lazy on linking this because when you forget what video it takes forever to find. But I shall find it and link it, its going to take me a couple hours this morning if I do. Check back later, I'll link it.
EDIT: Yup cant find that video, or it was removed and probably for a reason. Its fair to assume that there will be NO cash shop at this point.
That said it is terribly amusing to see the old guard have at it with F2P supporters, it warms my black heart to see such hate .
F2P is a system that allows lower quallity games to generate some money... And give older AAA+ games a 2nd chance...
the only fair system is a subbed game system.... It puts all players on the same ground... Everything can be found and won in game, its on top of that the only system that can archieve a working ingame econnomy

Just follow the link in my orriginal post... It explains the mistake.... There will only be an account based service... For acount based stuff, but no ingame stuff...
why do you think i used that link in my orriginal post?

Sorry but I already consider the fact that after release you can purchase the Imperial bonuses through their store an in-game cash shop. I'm still buying the game and playing but their rhetoric isn't changing my opinion on this issue.
The interview has "Off the record" in it's title which takes it down a gear in credibility for me. At about 1:11:10 countdown into the interview he says "No, there will not be a little guy in game saying, give me your cash." Everything else he wasn't sure about. He said he honestly didn't know if you would be able to get stuff in game or web site only, and that nothing was in place yet.
How you get 'no in game cash shop' from an off the record interview is beyond me. The 'ask me anything' question and answer postings are officail.

What is a F2P supporter?? F2P is just a scam for people who's attention span is too short to play the same game for a while. They just keep switching to different low budget crap and blowing their money on meaningless items rather than enjoying a real MMO.
So do we have any indication as to what types of items will be sold in the cash shop?
Im assuming imperial race...account services...respecs etc. My concern however is that things like consumables and gear that will have an effect on pvp will also be available
I think TESO will release with a cash shop that sticks to solid MMO gaming ethos. But you would have to be blind to ignore what eventually happens to every MMO with a cash shop.
If TESO does not have a P2W cash shop within one or two years I will be astounded. Your definition of P2W may be different from mine though. Speeding up travel, anything that gets you to top level more quickly, that's P2W in my eyes. The extremely dubious sort of P2W cash shop that is now so prevalent they will have in no longer than two or three years time.

Unlocking character slots, account wide bag space or account wide bank space, these things could be considered account based stuff. Now, I'm not saying that ESO is going to be offering those things (not unless it goes F2P), but what about things like say an Explorer's Pack? How about unlocking a new race like the Imperials? Those things could also be considered account services, right?
Even if the shop only offers transfers and other standard account related stuff, the fact is that there will still be a shop in game. And, you can bet that, if they need to (like switching payment models or just generating extra income WoW style), the shop will have all the functionality needed to sell other stuff.
Then again, maybe not, we'll see.
All in all these account services will be accessible trough your account page, and will contain stuff equall to WoW´s account services from a few years ago, before they started to sell ingame stuff like mounts and pets..
What kind of services will be available... So far it seems, namechanges, extra character slots and such .... but no things that have an ingame effect, like extra storage, extra races, extra bank stuff ..
And your bankspace is standard accessible by all your characters.

please everyone read the above link, and make it a sticky, so we dont have these pay to win topics pop up atleast 2 times a day.
this is not meant to be a discussion topic, but as a fact and a statement... There is no reason to discuss this for now and the future anyhow, as there are no plans either to go free to play ... Just accept this as a fact...
Just accept this fact: you will be able to even buy playable races in the cash shop.
As to "no plans to go F2P".... i find this statement very funny

I was thinking almost the same thing. If this game doesn't bring in the money that the suites want, then you can bet that there will be a cash shop and it will go F2P as well.
I am glad that there is no plan to have it in at launch though. All we can do is hope that it stays that way.
The problem is the suits will always want more, if they are doing well two years down the line, the suits will be asking why can't we make more money out of this? And they won't have to look far to see MMOs making a mockery out of gaming ethos to see how to do it.

Yeah I don't trust that the game won't go F2P shortly after launch.
Look at TERA, I purchased collectors edition paid over $100 for a game that I didn't even play for 8 hours before saying im done because of the UI Font Size bug on smaller monitors.
On top of this I was told that the game would not be pay 2 enjoy or other words charge for cosmetic items but shortly after game Goes F2P and here we go Cash Shop Pay 2 Enjoy.
I think the same thing is going to happen with ESO players will play it for a month or two if that then they will be like This game sucks, now I could be wrong but based on my Beta experience with the game the game is bad lacked all the content I would want to see in a 2014 MMO Release, and locked character classes rather than going sand-box based allowing players to develop their own unique race story line & play all classes on a single character.
Your correct, there is a dysfunctional group of content locusts that will blast through the game in a month bypassing 75% of the leveling content and then go this game sucks and sit on the sidelines complaining until Wildstar releases. Then repeat their MO.

They explicitly said nothing that affects gameplay. They could change their minds, I suppose, but I highly doubt Zeni wants to risk facing backlash over such a decision. The loss of a huge chunk of the playerbase would not make up for the small sums they received.

That article is from 2012 but i agree... it has high chances of F2P... in 1 year or so. So it depends if you want to wait 1 year or not.

Are you referring to the fact that you can purchase the Collector's Edition post release? Because that's the only way, and every other game with collector's editions allow you to do the same thing. What are they going to do, rip it off the shelves before they all sell just because the game has released? Most people don't preorder MMOs, they wait until release anyway.
They have explicitly stated that they will not be selling global race access post release (so the only chance for the explorer's pack is with pre-order.) This would obviously change if they went F2P, but an MMO this size will make more profit going P2P, assuming it's mildly well received. I really don't think this even has a chance of happening for at least ~2 years. The number of preorders for Elder Scrolls Online is insane, and the majority of the MMO populace, as I said, does not preorder their MMOs.
