I'm wondering what twisted justifications the proponent of "P2P is better" and "P2P gives 100% access to game content" are going to come up with now?
We have: extra race in cash shop, extra mount in cash shop.
The "best" excuse I heard so far was that to put exclusive items in a cash shop is a waste of development time that could be used in developing the game. My response was that the kind of items they offer in B2P/F2P game do not usually take long to develop/design (just skins, bag slots, etc.).
Clearly this excuse of "development time is dedicated to content in P2P" doesn't work now... So what's the next excuse?
please everyone read the above link, and make it a sticky, so we dont have these pay to win topics pop up atleast 2 times a day.
this is not meant to be a discussion topic, but as a fact and a statement... There is no reason to discuss this for now and the future anyhow, as there are no plans either to go free to play ... Just accept this as a fact...
what i dont like is Dev team talk about cash shop since beginning, but this dude "confirm" that "
On a different not, I still think that there is money to be made in developers keeping promises, and not trying to squeeze the most money out of their game in the shortest time possible. Unfortunately, we now know this game isn't going to be the one to prove it. I had high hopes for Matt Firor too.....
Oh well. Perhaps Camelot Unchained will be the one.
Most P2W deals will be focused upon the gating of races (such as the imperial) that I feel can be considered valid reasons given the class does provide things others dont (which they would btw with how skills are). With gated races with their own strengths (which can be bypassed by PAYING with preorder) I'd clearly say in a way it is pay 2 win. Cash shop doesn't need to be there when the box is sold with perks that alter your character to an extent giving them something others can't get.
And no, I don't trust anyone to balance things right. Even if they did try and balance skills it would be difficult to do so in a 100% 'balanced' format.

no reason to discuss yet here you are posting it. Posting in those threads would have been to hard.. omg this is so much better thanks.. pffft
If you SEARCH you will not like what you read. There will be a shop..
I was playing xxx games and all the promise they made in the beginning is broken. The direction of game can change all of a sudden, especially if money is in the way.
Sorry but I already consider the fact that after release you can purchase the Imperial bonuses through their store an in-game cash shop. I'm still buying the game and playing but their rhetoric isn't changing my opinion on this issue.
You consider a shop accessed through account management outside of game as in game? That's interesting.
Well "No plans to go f2p" is nothing but an assumption, only Zenimax really knows that answer. The truth will come out around the 6+ month time frame.
A financial design needs a fair amount of time to pull off so if it hits this game before 6 months you know they had it already figured into the game.IMO there is no excuse to ever see it,they had a guarantee 100% FACT time line on release,so they met their budget and release date, that means they are doing fine and turning in profits, everything now is icing on the cake.
Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.

F2P mmos didnt have in game cash shop before, they had (and some of them still do) website based cash shop. So whether the store is in game or in browser, it is still the same cash shop.

Considering how many times they have lied about their cash shop it's safe to assume that they have already planned a F2P conversion
The cash shop is already there
1 year to grab all the boxes cash thanks to the TESO IP and then switch to f2p

Can I upgrade to the Digital Imperial Edition?Starting April 4th, 2014 all customers who pre-purchased the Digital Standard Edition can upgrade to the Digital Imperial Edition by visiting The Elder Scrolls Online Store (https://store.elderscrollsonline.com). This will allow them to receive the exclusive collection of in-game rewards available from the Digital Imperial Edition. This upgrade service will be available from April 4th, 2014. If players have purchased a physical copy of the Standard Edition but wish to upgrade to the Digital Imperial Edition, our upgrade service is there to help you do so.
https://help.elderscrollsonline.com/app/storefaq Official Elderscroll site faq So FACT 1There will be a cash shop where you will be able to BUY a playable race, a mount, a pet and a EXP boost item. And of course account services (very loose definition.... considering Zenimax's moneygrab disposition things could get ugly really fast) This is not the "explorer pack" that's limited to preorder. This is a "you pay in our shop and you get in game items and gameplay features" F2P mentality and FACT 2every single mmorpg that launched with P2P claimed that they have "no plans to go f2o in the future".
LMAO! so buying the imperial edition is considered a cash shop item now?
Their biggest mistake was making a race a pre-order only item forcing them to also place it in the cash shop for those that did not pre-order.
Subscription based games should never have a race or any other pay walled content. Period. That is a Freemium/F2P thing and I do believe if the race lock was not present, no one would care about there just being a mount there. The fact that a pay wall is already present in this subscription based game provides all the reasons anyone needs to be worried and complain, its blurring the lines by having a sub, and a pay wall non-sub games have.
We don't need nickel and diming in a subscription based game.

I may be wrong but it seems that you cannot play a certain race if you don't pay extra dollars.

P2W (aka F2P) = bankruptcy
Plain and simple. If the game fails, they will go f2p. The hope is that it wouldn't fail, naturally.

It is a fact that Zenimax now have a credibility gap.
Why do I get the feeling Bachus is eating a black feathered bird right about now?
For me, all this does is make the game an even more "wait and see" than before.

Well for that you have to actually use facts as opposed to speculation, the only "fact" is that you don't know an are assuming.
The one "fact" we do know is the director has already backtracked on the horse issue so if anything else this cast doubt on anything else they say.
