How do you organise pvp ?
How do you organise pve ?

its 2014 ffs people still affraid using a mic ?

If I'm not running content that requires coordination - then I don't want to hear anyone else's sob stories or their recent alcoholic endeavors.

If I'm out questing/leveling an alt, particularly if the content has voice acting in it - then I don't want those people yakking in my ears.

How is that difficult to understand?

This.  Voice is perfectly fine for good purpose, such as organized activities, but when I'm out doing something solo, I don't really need to listen to others in random chat, I'm normally listening to something else, be it the TV, my wife, my music, or maybe even the in game voice-overs.

But as far as just generally listening in on open chat, guys, you just aren't that interesting, which is likely why I'm in the afk channel.  BTW, if you want to contact me for a raid or something, feel free to type in the in game chat channels, and I'll come up and join you.

Ive tried joining guilds with mic requirements and it just doesn't work. Why? It immediately ruins my perception of my fellow guild members. That guy who made great in-game chat turns out to be either whiney or a real life dbag. For some reason, chat becomes this stream of personal sharing that is frankly uncomfortable. I appreciate text based chat because it obfuscates detractors and personal tendencies that become obvious over VoIP.

Having voice coms is usually an indispensable feature for games nowadays. Especially if you want to do anything organized. So that much makes sense, and is something you should probably get used to (even if you don't have a mic or w/e).

However requiring it 100%, whenever you log on, regardless of if you're part of what's going on or not, is ridiculous and absurd. Tbh, I would say the same about most 100% reqs from guilds these days. It's an outdated way of thinking and they will more than likely not be able to get away with that for very long. They're either crumble, or be forced to change, as so many guilds do.

People just don't have the patience / time for such strict reqs these days. Either you've got multiple games / friends you're talking to, or you just need a break. Being social is one thing, forcing people to talk to you is another.
