[/quote] No, that you would react or, rather, not react like that makes you a push-over and a willing target. When it's a couple small incidents, you can ignore it and move on. But when the OP is being harassed as frequently as they describe, and their ability to play and enjoy the game as they wish is being constantly disrupted, then a reaction is completely warranted.
It's pathetic that Trion lacks the ability to recognize the difference between "general use of game mechanics", and "use of game mechanics to harass other players". Their non-action against it is equally pathetic.
It's also interesting how many people are ignoring or misrepresenting so much of what the OP has explained and described in their posts. In other words, it goes a whole lot further than just "not being able to plant a few roses". But then, if you were actually being reasonable, or even honest in your replies, and *not* cherry-picking, you'd realize how dishonest and silly your response is.
That there are people who will actually attempt to defend that kind of behavior is really sad, as well.
If you have to misrepresent another person's situation - despite it having been clearly and thorougly explained in detail - just so you can tear it down, while propping yourself up... well, that's pretty sad.
Actually you are incorrect .. getting on the nerves of the guy/gal answering the call does NOT help.
This i know as i used to work for British Gas when they had the monopoly on energy supply and where on WatchDog EVERY SINGLE WEEK
I planned appointments for a regions engineer's and I was the only one who could handle the vile trash that people spew.
Now the people who called and were reasonable, I would sort out their problems first, those who phoned up and were the general crude, insulting customers .. I would put to the back of the pile and BG service engineers generated ALOT of complaints every day.
After that I was on Central Heating Customer Complaints (for the same company) where people had spent roughly £10000 on a new heating system, same applied, the customers who bothered to understand it ISN'T the fault of the poor sod answering the phone .. they got preferential treatment and i'd do all i could to sort out their problem.
Started as free account and I'm more then glad I did not purchase any sub, immagine for year. My experience is one of worst ever, comparable only to Aion. But at the end what would one expect from Korean game. Saddly. I can not remember single one worth anything at all or beyond month or so of gameplay.
While that dude was a total d-bag for just no reason, you have to keep in mind that it happens in every game where there is PvP. I played WoW back in vanilla and swarms of horde would come camp redridge just griefing players over and over until you would log and come back later, they would get bored, or alliance members would actually come assist. Some people just derive joy from being a pain in the ass.
The problem is that it's a slippery slope when the companies start laying down bans for in game actions. This guy wouldn't let you farm, what if the opposing faction won't let you run your trade route? How can one action be ban worthy but the other is part of the game? My point is that you will occasionally see this type of behavior in any MMO and your best approach is to just log off for a while or go do something else. If you let it bother you, they are more inclined to keep doing it.
Originally posted by Varex12 Pretty shameful display of "customer service" by Trion. They don't have a clue as to what they're doing.
Biggest problem is , this is NOT Trion CS.
It is some weak pathetic cheap out sourced CS company.
The very same company now does CS for PWI, Trion, and last I looked Turbine.
Trion no longer gives a rats ass about customers, and as long as anyone continues to spend money on subs or cash shops this will continue to be the business model of operation.
Want things to change, then boycott Trion and let them know you are boycotting them.
Cancel your subs, delete your CC information from your account, uninstall their games, and send a certified letter to
Trion Worlds Board of Directors

Trion Worlds, Inc.

Explain that you will no longer support Trion or any other game developer that makes the choice to license with Trion that you will be a carbon copy to ALL companies that choose to do business with Trion that as long as they continue their association with Trion that you and your family will never buy any product they offer.
Further indicate to Trion you will be forwarding this complain to the Scfy channel ( CS 1 (800) 219-1187 ) and indicate to the Scfy channel as long as they run Defiance or are in business with Trion Worlds you will be boycotting the SCFY channel and every product advertised and that you will be contacting their advertisers as well.
Explain to the Trion board of Directors as long as Scott Hartsman so much as owns one share of Trion stock, has any business association with Trion Worlds, and as long as they do not return to in house CS with phone support you will continue your Boycott.
Further inform them you will be filing a complaint of record with the CA Better business bureau as well as the CA AG's consumer protection complaints department.
Then have the will and motivation to follow-up and carry out your threats.
Consumers have way more power than they know if they would only stop being lazy and use it.
If players would start being hardasses we could change the way these companies have begun to do business.
Dude this is a capitalist society. The consumers are powerless. You really believe that companies will change their ways because a few people get mad? Lol. If that was the case, Fox News would have been shut down years ago due to racism. Companies, especially large companies have power. Your only option is to move on.
Sounds like to make the mechanics work: just fix it so that stuff left on land you own becomes yours after a certain, small, amount of time. Or give the player the ability to burn to the ground anything on his property.
Didn't read the whole thread but read the entire OP. You stated your case very calmly and professionally, and then when the dude said nah sorry you started telling him you'd blast the company on the internet and all that. I don't know for a fact that it would've made any difference in your particular case. But as an escalations officer in a lucrative sector of finance, you're generally not getting anywhere with staff with this approach.
.....
And people more often than not, want to be convinced.
I have been a moderator for a couple of years now. And while I am maybe not THAT nice to CS, I agree with you. I also never had trouble with solving my issues and in a few cases even having the rules changed after campaigning for it.
I agree, my experience is that I usually get what I want/need precisely because I can "sell my plight" to the person on the other end and not make them feel like crap.
Like Skyrim? Need more content? Try my Skyrim mod "Godfred's Tomb."
I thought about a couple things that are easily common sense and makes Trion GM support look bad.
1 You should not have to SELL anything, player harassment should NEVER be an issue that has to be sold.
2 This GM's response was the same as saying oh we allow chat, therefor anything can be said in chat.
This GM should look at the sole pretense of the opposing players,if their ONLY reason for using game mechanics or anything else is to harass another player and NOT play the game as intended or designed they should be dealt with.
This is the same as any player using game mechanics to explolit, that is ALWAYS frowned upon and often dealt with severely. The main reason behind this is because you are KNOWINGLY try to exploit of harass,it is not like you can say "oh i was just playing the game and did not intend to spend 24/7 harassing said player.
Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.

You did not read the ToU closely, no where does it say the actions by the "griefers" were against the game's rules, and not only is using game mechanics to exploit or harass "ALWAYS" frowned on, sometimes they are elevated to an art form.

trade and duel request to stop people using AH is intended purpose?
using your mount to push people out the way, is intended purpose?
Preventing people from progressing without anyway of fighting back?
Say i got an item that let me place a house, but found out if i use it in another way i could remove people from their houses an claim it for myself and they could do nothing about it, would that be fine? it's part of the game and pvp so should be cool right?
The fact that players of this game defend this sort of thing tells you a great deal about the playerbase.
If making other people miserable is a key element of game play then the game deserves to fail. And normal people are entirely justified in wanting games designed to encourage sociopathic behavior to fail.

Just seems like where do you draw the line imho.
Herase, give the guy a break, for a sociopath that is the EXACT use of game mechanics. Its what they were designed for right? Funny listening to people defend the blatant harassment of players using game mechanics because Trion has no control over parts of the game (they didn't create it they just publish it) and therefore are paralyzed with indecision.
Let me see lets check the feature list on the Official ARcheage webs site, okay here it is.

Best thing to do is quit and if you spent any money get a refund only way to get them to do something is hit them in the pocketbook.
I quit because of the same problems player kept uprooting all my stuff for no reason i didn't talk to them i left, they just kept uprooting till i had nothing left.
Even if they wanted to they can't fix the problem they have to get XLGames to do the coding chances are they won't bother.
Best thing to do is find another game not made by Trion i had so many bad experiences with Defiance i bought DLC packs i could not use any gear from any of them, sent in ticket took 4 months to be looked at and gave up the could not fix the problem.

Yea, then those guys could have just killed him instead of shoving him around or blocking him.
