if you round down, average Star Citizen is spening $100+ on the game. That is pretty amazing imho.
I suspect that like most online games it's the whales which are contributing to the greatest part of the spending and not the average Rocket Rick.
It's sort of a status thing, I recall reading some threads on their forums where players routinely shared how many ships they had purchased, how much they were in for etc.
Quite a bit of back patting and giving kudos to each other instead of the derision or scorn one might have expected from "normal" people on a typical online forum.
I imagine that's largely a result of heavy moderation more than anything else.
Most people won't let someone take a crap in the middle of their house or make comments on how ugly the children are.

569$Millions lol. That format is just so obnoxious to look at. Just type it out as $569 million, or 569 million USD or even just $...... and it's MILLION, not Millions, we are dealing with US Dollar not Euro or what weird notation you are used to using.
