    Here's some fact :

1000's of in-game videos on youtube
    millions of people pledged
I can log in and play right now
I can buy in game ships with in game currency
I can do various types of mission
    -bunker missions
    -trade run missions
    -bounties missions
    -maintenance missions
    -fed ex missions
    -I can become a criminal
--Hack the admin terminal to wipe crim status
--criminals go to a prison when caught
    ---prison mission
    ----mining
    ----maintenance of air machines
    ----escape mission from prison
    -I can simply explore

I'm sick to death of the whining and crying about how this title is scam from boomers who's games couldn't get funding or releases games so medicore no one even bought them. get over your self really.

Another fact, perople would rather fund Star Citizen  and "hope" for it's release, then play the shit that is available now.
    Here are some FACTs:

It's 9 years over due and still in some form of incomplete Alpha.
Not even some vague year estimate for Beta
Not even some vague decade estimate for release
Not even one single second of Squadron 42 has been played by customers

I think the funniest part of your post is where you make fun of "boomers".  You do know that Chris pitched this game to target people who are like 45 and up today right?

Didn't know you were the project manager...
How much has technology changed in 9 years ?

Players can't retain any of the progress they've earned nor play SQ42.

It really doesn't matter what one can do in SC, nor how much they might enjoy it, they are just playing for funzies right now which seems all rather pointless, but perhaps that's a millennial or Gen Z thing, leading an angry, sad, purposeless existence with little accomplishment?

why would you expect to retain progress in an Alpha ? All games are pointless, there's no point in any of the games we play but to fill  personal time with enjoyment.

The fact that you are filling your personal time, time used to live and breath on earth to hate on something you've never even  tried... says a lot imho/

In a nutshell, and this is something that is disclaimed as to what you are buying, is the early access of SC as is, which is how it also works on steam early access.

This is why you also not seeing metracritic professional reviews of steam early access games such as Valheim or Baldur's 3. Both realities co-exist.

Valheim is available for purchase and has over 300,000 Steam reviews. Can you explain the difference between buying a game and pledging money towards a game?

Pre-release reviews, that's why Steam labels them as such even after the game releases, then after launch is when professional reviews kick in.

Pledge is just terminology, what matters is what is disclaimed as what are you buying and its terms, and as far SC goes, it's akin to early access, pledge package gives you game access and entitlement to new stuff as it gets developed, that's about it.

I just mentioned the early access and reviews thing because as it shows, despite early access games on steam being sold "as is" as what you're entitled to, it still co-exists with the reality where these games do not get professionally reviewed until they leave early access.

    OK, I'll stop, for now.

Just know none of what I say is personal but if Star Citizens want to take it to heart that's their own conscious gnawing at them.

See you all here again, probably when funding cracks $600M in a month or three.

    Cheers.

I have a very hard time thinking of anything that interests me less than the question how pretty the website for a game looks like.

An up to date and fairly accurate wiki for example would be of far higher importance.

It matters to me because attention to detail.

Also, the inability to put up a website doesn't speak well of a company's ability to create a game, IMHO.
  • AdamantineAdamantine Member RarePosts: 5,094
Whow is this thread dead now ?

And the website isnt part of the game, thus its not a case of "attention to detail", but part of advertisement.

Well, Star Citizen funding has become mostly a meme at this point, and a well worn one at that.

$600M, $750M, or 1 Gazillion dollars, no matter how much money comes in this one is likely to never go out the door.

Yet while "some" feel that way, MANY do not.  I know I bought into the hype many years ago when Chris first announced what would be the natural successor to Wing Commander.  Today I have not played a single second of SQ42 in any way, shape or form.  So while I guess it's great that "some" are content, I personally fall into the other camp.  And I think I have a valid complaint.  At least as valid as those happy with an non-permanent Alpha version of one of the two games promised and bought all those years ago.

Yup.  Sadly we have advanced to a point where Darwin’s law seems to no longer apply.

Sadly we have advanced to a point where Darwin’s law seems to no longer apply.

Its more that we live in a strange society that basically demonizes traditional values such as family, in which jobs pay too poorly to found a family anyway, etc.
