They are not interested in debating the merits of the case, they have already passed sentence. All they are prepared to discuss is the severity of the punishment that will be inflicted. Yes, there are gameplay videos of the "module". This module is smaller than most game demos I've seen. It's about the size of many proof of concept projects out there. In case you're not familiar with those, it's what a team of developers makes to show investors in the initial stages what they plan on creating/delivering. It's the earliest, smallest possible build of a demo.
The point you're droning on about above, that there is "no footage" is probably meant to mean no gameplay of a COMPLETE game. There is no complete game to be had, either in alpha, beta, or even "pre-alpha". The one and only thing that exists is this "tech demo" they call a module.
Most people in the industry would scoff at that term, and call it what it really is.

Starlancer was designed by Warthog Games for Digital Anvil. Thus an out-house production.
If you are holding out for the perfect game, the only game you play will be the waiting one.
Apparently they're showing off their first proper multi-crew ship at Gamescom next month, that should silence the rebelling rabble for a while. However the demo obviously comes with caveats and if history is anything to go by - see does not equal use, as shown by the FPS which was demoed in April with an ETA of 2 weeks but has disappeared for an undetermined time. I'm curious if there will be a discounted concept art sale for the newly revealed multi-crew ship?
Might give a nce taster of what they hope to accomplish but a demo means nothing to me until I can actually play it myself.
Even if they manage to show a good multicrew demo - and release it shortly after - the fanatical mob against this game will ignore it.
This isn't about justified scepticism, which I could appreciate when it comes to people who don't understand the challenge of developing perhaps the most ambitious video game of all time.

Yes, Starlancer bears only the production house's name. He in no way made it. And if you think those videos are gameplay footage, your expectations are INCREDIBLY low. Gameplay footage is a polished, damn near finished portion of the game. It can be a tiny, few minute long experience where you get a feel of how the full game will be. These videos are nowhere near that. It's like claiming watching the audition tapes are a good way to know what a movie is about. You don't have to white knight for this game. It's QUITE OBVIOUS to apparently everyone but a few of you, that people are unhappy with the trajectory and lack of clear vision this game has. You don't have to run in and defend it everytime someone says they don't like something that is completely subjective. People can have differing opinions from yours. The world won't explode. True story.
Originally posted by Ganksinatra that people are unhappy with the trajectory and lack of clear vision this game has.
With 950.000 people in the project there will ALWAYS be some people that are unhappy. Because you cannot make a game that makes 950.000 people equally happy. 950.000 people that have their own, often conflicting views of the perfect game.
So - yes, some people are unhappy. No, by the very nature of such a large project that cannot be helped and will always be the case, no matter what CIG does.
So i hope that CIG does not try to appease everyone (which they cannot) and concentrates on making the game (which they can). To the best of their ability.
Contrary to you I think they DO have a clear vision for the game. Again, not ALL of the 950.000 backers share this vision .. and its impossible (without mind control ;-) that all the 950.000 have an identical vision. So - someone will ALWAYS complain about CIGs vision, no matter what they do.
Anyone that takes his points or words seriously is incredibly naive. Just because certain points are raised or has some measure of truth in this doesn't mean the entire thing isn't credible due to dishonesty, misrepresentation, a play on people's ignorance, and so forth.
The small rowdy group with the pitchforks will welcome any supporters to their cause, no questions asked.
They cannot afford to be picky, they need the numbers desperately.
I'm sorry but 30 percent of the Backers wanting their money back is not a small rowdy group. It is almost 1/3 of your support and would probably cripple CIG snd RSI's attempts to put the game out.
Why do people keep saying this? A poll asking if people want the ability to receive refunds, is not exactly the same thing as people saying they want a refund, they're saying they'd welcome the option if they wanted a refund. Was it also representative of everyone who backed the game? I highly doubt that as well.
Why do people keep saying this? Goebbels has the answer: “It would not be impossible to prove with sufficient repetition that a square is in fact a circle."
<Date on which consumer could buy final version of game>
Yes, it's standard practice for backers to "buy" the final version of a Kickstarter-funded game at the point where they pledge for the campaign. Nothing unusual about that in the slightest.
Didn't you know that ?
Or are you implying that games should not be allowed to be funded via Kickstarter ?
"............Star Citizen, already 12 months into production"
Neither does the graphic reflect the vastly expanded scope of the game that resulted from the string of stretch goals reached after the end of the highly successful Kickstarter campaign.
Given the eventual scope and complexity of SC, it's not unreasonable to compare it's development time to that of ESO, for instance.
So the correct launch date for SC will be 2011 + 7 years. I'd say they're actually ahead of schedule at this point !

First of all I would like to say I don't want to BURN Star Citizen down. I want it to succeed. I just do not Believe Chris Roberts will ever deliver the game he promised. I can point to another Kickstarter where people Prayed that it would be delivered and shouted down all the naysayers despite all the evidence that was shown to them . It was a republish of a game called up front you can see it https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1325766284/up-front-the-card-game. Go to Board Game Geek and look up the game and look at the threads.
My point is that Chris Roberts is a Brilliant game designer. He is a not a proven company or business manager. In fact he has a history of over promising and under delivering. Even now he keep promising things he doesn't deliver. The FPS he said would be released LONG before now in fact at one point he said it would be released in three weeks. I have seen the reasons it wasn't released. All good reasons. Chris Roberts as the CEO should have known the game was not anywhere near where it needed to be and not promised something that would never happen. RSI and CIG need a good business management team Period. THAT is what I am saying.
no reason in arguing with the OP, he's just salty people are calling CIG/RSI and Chris Roberts out... therefore he's offended people are insulting a game (that still doesn't full exist yet) that he's invested into so therefore he'll keep making spam threads to white knight the sh!! outta star Citizen. Which is fine, nothing wrong with defending something your emotionally and financially attached to.
But he hasn't invested in the game. In his own words he has no interest in the game and won't be playing it lol.
Thing is this numtie has been posting for the last 24 hours about a game he has no interest in. Yeah he will tell you its all about Mr Smart.
If that's the case why hasn't this numtie started a thread in the ot forums about Mr Smart instead of a game forum he pretends to have no interest in.
Anyone who who takes this joker seriously can't claim that anyone who takes Mr Smart seriously is delusional.

I don't know how your dilemma can be solved. You appear to want CR to be in control of the game design, but someone else (a good business management team) to be in control of the budget.
That would effectively mean that the management team would decide what Chris can and cannot do in the game design, because they control the money. Ironically, avoiding that scenario was one of the main reasons why CR resorted to crowdfunding in the first place. Chris would then have to launch a Kickstarter campaign to raise the funds to make the game that HE wants to make, and so on and so on...
