... They are the right questions. 90 million is a shit-ton of money, all donated towards a game where no-one has any idea of whats going on except what they're spoon feeding you.
..t.
Lol yeah, perhaps some people will be a little more careful when handing over cash to fund game development projects in the future. Somehow I doubt it though.
If your donation or pledge is conditional and dependant on a certain level of disclosure, better make sure you agree on the scope of the disclosure BEFORE handing over the cash. If the terms of the agreement are vague, the service rendered is bound to be equally vague. You gets what you pays for.
CR and CIG have been working on SC for 3y7mo. Work started a year before the kickstarter, as stated by CR. Heck that was the reason given for why it would only take them another 2 years to finish.
You have not yet understood why Derek Smart does this ?
Read a bit on what he did to the game "Alganon", its creator David Allen (formerly CEO for this game, until replaced by Derek Smart) and the people working there (e.g. Allen's friend Jason Blood).

Fool us once, shame on us, fool us twice, shame on him.

Chris Roberts has stated no such thing. You are referring to an article from Oct. 2012 were the unnamed blogger states that SC was in development for a year before the Kickstarter campaign. It was NOT a quote from Chris Roberts. It was a guestimate, an opinion, from an unnamed blogger.

This is what makes me laugh about the SC "defense." Here is the site I found that he is referring to:
And they do in fact quote CR from GDC Online and posted it at 10:32 on 10 October 2012.
Our purpose today,” said Roberts, “is to allow our fans to join us in this process early. It will likely be another two years before the full product is ready for release, but early backers will be able to play a version of the game a year from now."
Simply another attempt to discredit a (any) source, instead of addressing the real issues some may have. Of note the source is CR himself.
Oh right they did. The game Demo, the game assets, the Bangle, all of those things magically appeared with out any prior work. Hahahaha, man what will the fanboys think of next.
That is the problem with CIG most of the things they say are in videos. Here you go this is when it was stated, it was during the 24 hour live stream back in 2013.

Simply stunning.
Can you point to the part of the quote that states that Chris Roberts directly says the game has been in 'PRODUCTION' for 12 months before then?
There's a HUGE difference between stages that happen before production and those that don't. Production is when a shit ton of things are in place and it takes a great deal of time before you can reach production (especially on an MMO). A handful of people is not enough to go into production on a full-scale, AAA MMO.
CR and CIG have been working on SC for 3y7mo. Work started a year before the kickstarter, as stated by CR.

The game was a year in development before the KS. He was working with Travis Day (employee #2) when it was just two of them. During that year, they worked with CryTek to do that promo video that launched the KS and unveiled the project. It's all in my blogs; and it's all sourced (no making shit up) material.
So, since Oct 2011 to Oct 2012 (KS) to Nov 2014 (promised date for KS pledge) to July 2015, is a total of 3.9yrs. And the KS was promised in Nov 2014. There's no getting around that.
More to the point, the reports coming out are that Sandra Roberts, having gone on the record many times, as saying she has an MBA from UCLA, is somehow the VP of marketing, making around $250K (!) per year, yet doesn't know what the position entails. CR is reported to be making about 2x that. I have updated my Interstellar Justice blog with this entry, once the researcher sent in the results from UCLA. Se said here (pos 18:45) and here (you can see where CR abruptly interrupted here - on camera). And here is where she said she has no clue what the position means.
These White Knights are making this about me, in an attempt to take attention away from the real questions being raised.
They will not get away with it, because once the investigative media reports, currently (I am aware of four who have contacted me, and other sources) underway start reporting on this, it's all over. Probably long before the FTC even gets in there.
ps: The OP probably works for RSI/CIG, or performs some function for them, in case nobody picked up on that yet. Check the date of the account creation.
Game developers are just human beings who happen to make games for a living. If you want to hold us up to higher standards of conduct, then go ahead ...but don't be surprised if we don't uphold them.
Kickstarter page, at the end.. they mention that sgs would make sure them to deliver in 2 years...
Section updates of ks page, roll down until 5.5 million letter... he says the 6 was enough to make the entire dream with all things that he imagined... the next one in the timeline of updates, Roberts with 6 million and an expanded scope already in his hands say: "the next 2 years will be great" (something like that)
Erilion knows all that. He should be banned from here by trying to deceive people. They guy is only making marketing for cig here and, in general, pretending abojt things that were presented to him many times.
I have no idea why mmorpg let this guy go free here. Probably cig and he are paying for that, because does not make a lot of sense.
You can be a fan... but what he does is more like dishonest.

Sounds to me like you don't realize that a higher budget = more content, higher graphics level, the ability to develop things to allow for future expansion on consoles, etc.
The thing that costs the most resources in a full-scale MMO is content. Content also takes the form of voice-overs, cut-scenes, etc. I'm willing to bet that Chris Roberts didn't plan on having AAA level cut scenes in the $6 million budget.
His 'dream' was probably counting on the idea that he'd manage to only raise a few million, not $85 million, and with the additional content; cutscenes; voice over; etc.

Stop shilling this bull. Nobody cares about that. All most of us care about is the KS campaign which promised a SPECIFIC game, by a SPECIFIC time frame. That being Nov 2014. In the interim, they significantly INCREASED the scope.

I believe that this whole charade has more to do with this game he is "developing" named Line of Defense and i'll explain. According to him LoD's development budget is 10 million $. He refuses to disclose any further info regarding the projects finances, we just have to take his word when he states that he and 9 more people (it's a 10 man dev team he says) invested 10 million in LoD.

Hey D.S. I actually undeleted my account here merely to tell you that many of us 100% agree with you and respect that you have the balls to actually stand up and at least try and get some answers.
You are dealing with a cult mentality of many people who are emotionally and financially invested in this and to even suggest something shady might be happening is like personally insulting these peoples grandmothers.I also think the paid viral marketers who have been here since day 1 are making mad overtime.
Im not getting involved with any of this because both you and I (and many others) already know and TBH there probably isnt a damn thing that will be done about it. Crowdfunding scams are too lucrative, easy and nearly impossible to prove and CR has Millions and a team of rabid fans and viral marketers who will excuse everything . Ive seen this before. All they can do is make this about 'you' to deflect from the valid questions you ask and points you make.
However, Sir...As you said- you will be vindicated when we see the finished product.
Take care man- You're right no matter what and alot of us know this. props and respect.
I invite people to go to the cig forums and make a search "release 2014"...
Its pretty telling about the behavior of fans. They were all saying about coming out in 2014 (in 2013), and explaining that was becuase that year before announcing, and that they have many employees and that they had experience blablabla.
Pretty much common sense that would come by 2014- earlier 2015, worst case 6 months later ("but we wouldn't mind 6 months later, because rather later with more quality than blablabla).
During the delay of the dfm, the fans migrated to shut up the concerns of the uninformed with the famous "paralel development", because they said, they told many times, and all people were uninformed, and the delay of dfm would not mean that fps, social, sq 42 would delay, because paralel dev and roberts god. And that after the netcode ok, which caused the delay of dfm, all other modules would come faster, all that corroborated by statements of the team, so yeah, the uninformed haters does not know nothing and should watch the shows and read all that transparent dev reports.
Fps and social, were scheduled to come out by march 2104 (according with est. Of 2013). With the delay of dfm, everyone apparently forgot that. So, actually, i cound the fps-social delay since then, not since april of this year.
In any case... see the trend? The thing is, there is a group, of the same fanboys (or pr workers of cig?) driving the opinions in the cig forums or in any other forum of more famous websites. The objective is to promote and silence, and when someone persist, they made or try to make character assasination and provoke people, so they give reasons to mods to ban, etc. Or simply report posts by numbers, with their armada, so it be deleted without proper analysis.
There are some places, like Massively, that the mods and members there are also fanboys. They basically make fun, and try to pretend that everyone loves sc by deleting all criticism and banning people while posting with multiple acc and making questions just like erilion did... saying that roberts never said this or that blablaba.
Its a cult. Formed in general, by the same group that followed ben lesnick fro the cic wc blog. Organized and focused in their shady tactics of spreading the word (and silencing the word)

You were told you were going to get at least a 'sailboat. Funding reached the level to create a 'battleship'. Now, you're screaming for the sailboat knowing most people won't stop to think about your ridiculous position.
I'm willing to bet you're going to leave fairly quickly because of the fact that I'm someone that actually has experience in the gaming industry; and I'm someone that can call you out on your nonsense.
Ready to go on this, Derek Smart? I am, because I'm going to bring some REAL QUESTIONS.
