LMAO talk about spin, that isnt a 'community' its enough employees to hold the letters they printed out to spell the 'message'.
Where were the 'we stand with Sandi' people at Gamescon? Was thre a picket line? Were there protesters? Were people wearing T Shirts with Derek Smart on them with the crossed out circle covering him?
It will be interesting to see what they have in store for Oct. looking forward to hearing more about S42.

but still waiting on a full game to play. I backed this title a long time ago, never asked for my money back, but i do at minimum expect a full game. When i pledged it was only the hangar you could look at, i'm sure there is more now, but i'd rather have a full game. I'm From the pay now get finished game now era..
i'm not too big on alphas, pre alphas, whatever they call it.

And what you expect that for every $ pledged that the game magically takes 1 minute less to produce? Games of the scope of Star Citizen typically takes 7 years to make, we're on year 4.5 ish, the game is not taking longer than other games to make.

Unfortunately, no one has ever told Chris Roberts this.
And in all his years of game work, he never figured it out himself. Hmmn.
If you are holding out for the perfect game, the only game you play will be the waiting one.
This is an article about the best things found at GamesCom. And Star Citizen is No.1 on the list, before Battlefield 1.
Heiko Klinge is the editor-in-charge of GameStar, one of the largest German gaming magazines (and No.1 for PC games). He says in the article that in all his 17 years of professional gaming journalism this was the most impressive demo he ever witnessed. He adds the usual caveats w.r.t. timeline and scope of the project.
It may be important for some that Mr. Klinge is not one of the GameStar authors that usually write about SC (e.g. Dannenberg). He is known for impartial and factual comments.
You know we watch the news and it talks as if the EVERYONE is for Hillary....just not the truth.
I read someone talking about giving money for this and then being told things like this take YEARS as in 7 or so and they are only on 4.5y. Welcome to the wait. Ah but what was left out was the PROMISE to launch what 2014? And EXATLCY when did this start..anyway what do I know.
Not sure anyone will be so willing to invest next time. Looks like a beautiful game

October 2014 Kickstarter launched; closed mid-Nov 2014. Prior to that there was some stuff done - since we know what happens to Kickstarter projects that turn up and simply say give us money - they get pulled.
As for development times they vary. Bungee will have done some work on Destiny before they inked the deal with Activision with Destiny launched 2.5 years later (so 2.5 + X years). Carbine spent 2 years on Wildstar before they agreed to being bought by NCSoft with the WS launching 7 years later (so 2+7 years)
Caveat though. Comparing an established company which has teams in place to hire staff, do the accounts, arrange contracts, find office space, agree leases etc. to a "newly funded" company that has has none of this - so it has to find and hire the people who can go and hire the coders etc. - isn't an apples to apples comparison. All the time having to keep an eye on the funding unlike e.g. Bungee. Across multiple countries and continents its even harder (a statement not an assumption).

I think you mean SC was supposed to release in 2014 and the Kickstarter ended in 2012
SC went from one game to two, SQ42, then the second one turned into three parts. so that's four not counting AC and SM.

That isn't true. They have always been talking about sq42 and the persistent universe. Star Marine was added not much later and all that is FPS combat in a room. Nothing more.
That is like saying COD is 4 games and not 1. Regardless they did claim it would be finished in 2014 and claimed that Star Marine would launch last year and are still claiming that SQ42 will be released in 2016.

SQ42 and Star Citizen were in the original pitch. SQ42 was supposed to be how people got their citizenship for Star Citizen (and I haven't seen that changed yet).
AC was always part of the SQ42/Star Citizen pitch as well, it's an arcade flight simulator just like Wing Commander 3 had.
SM was added as a feature creep once the funding reached ground level combat.

Heya Erillion! Sounds right. Even one of my most anti-Roberts ex-Origin sources was seriously impressed with the demo.
