The only thing you're going to be waiting on is what we already know, escapist has no proof of anything, no evidence of anything, and at best a handful of people with an axe to grind against the man who canned them. If everyone were allowed to say whatever they wanted about their former bosses without giving any proof, the entire world would end up unemployed.
Except everyone IS in fact already allowed to say whatever they want to say about their former bosses, without that result.
Even if the Escapist wasn't thorough enough and this is "at best a handful of people with an axe to grind against the man who canned them". Well, there usually is a reason for wanting to grind that axe. A reason which could be perfectly valid and relevant for the public to know.

I work for a business that owns it's own parking lot in the middle of downtown. One of the business owners next to us was interviewed by the news paper saying that the parking problems downtown are our fault because we don't open up our parking to everyone who wants to come downtown.
So I wanted to see why that owner said that about us because we allow everyone to park in our parking.
Fact:
1. The owner was a blind man who does massages. He uses as seeing eye dog to get around. He can't see how many people are using out parking.
2. I asked him why he said the things he did about our business to the newspaper. He said he didn't say those things. He said he hasn't read the article for the previous reason.
3. I read him the article and he said he he never said those things to the reporters.
4. Went to the newspaper and they said they they will "look into it". They never posted an apology or retraction.
I was later told that the news media is not responsible for reporting the truth. We could go for slander against them but it would just make us look worse.
Ah see here's where you're wrong, the burden of proof sits on the accusers. In this case that would be DS, and Escapist. Chris Roberts is innocent until proven guilty of something other than wanting to make an ambitious game. It's the job of the accusers to bring forth evidence of wrong doing, and it needs to be verifiable.
Realizer is exactly correct in this. It is always the person that brings the charges that must prove them. CR does not have to prove anything. He can obiously poke holes in their charges, which he has done.
We are not in the court.
Doesn't matter the expectations are the same. Here I'll show you.
I have two anonymous sources that I verified via a badge with no name, that you are actually blood relative to Mickey Mouse. I believe my sources are solid. Now it's up to you to prove me wrong. Even if you do though my sources say otherwise.
Although obviously false these are the types of statements that could be made in "your world". Glad I don't live there.
Well, since im not realtive to Mickey Mouse, its shouldnt be hard to prove you wrong. CR should prove his innocence out of pure respect for people who gave him their money. If he has nothing to hide, that is.
Nope my sources say you're wrong, and there's now 9 of them. I threw away all the evidence of their identities. One of these sources is also a direct relative of Mickey Mouse and we chatted over skype. He had big ears, but I couldn't swear to that on a bible. All sources however still confirm the relation. They also posted their views on the same day at Ancestry.com.
See either which way you look at it, when you can't show accountability you are letting the media run wild. That's what we saw with the escapist article, and it's the crux of the entire argument.
If the story remains out there and there hasn't been a retraction then that says a lot.
Others will wait while you still try to discredit the article. lol
Actions speak louder than words.
Well if they have no prooof then we will be seeing a retraction of the story then, i am not sure why Chris Roberts would want slander being said about his company if it's not true.
No I don't expect a retraction yet, I fully expect escapist to stand by their shoddy attempt at journalism for traffic purposes. Only after they've been through the mud with how bad the article was via forum feedback, will I expect a retraction. Even then I'm not sure the "mutual source" would be very happy it didn't end up in court. However given the shortsightedness of their actions, I think they may be drastically alarmed at how that case would really go.
I'll give you a hint, it probably wouldn't end with CIG showing their financials in the case. So far, much to the dismay of some, this article made things even less about the money, and more about false allegations in general. This doesn't bode well for money side of the argument people have attached themselves to.
<snip> I was later told that the news media is not responsible for reporting the truth. We could go for slander against them but it would just make us look worse.
They already did retract and edit several things. Which speaks in favour of them wanting to give correct info.
I don't know media law in your country, but we have something called a "right to reply" in mine. This is taken very seriously by courts and it's your best bet when you feel wronged.

Erillion, you're more than welcome to my Aurora LN, I didn't want that ship anyway.
Out of curiousity where are you getting the details for that skin, I assume KS? The store page doesn't show any of that info. Has it made a reappearance in the last couple of days or has it been there all this time?
As someone who works in audit, I can tell you for a fact that making that kind of report is not only time consuming, but costly as well. Not to mention the extra burden placed on people for validate, be validated, etc etc.
This is why you don't see many private companies disclosing their financial details. If public companies don't have to do it, I'm sure many will choose not to do it either. It is a way for CIG ti defend themselves, but for them it may not be the best option.
Complete and utter nonsense. They use a software package like every other company and they come with a module to create these financial reports because the CEO and the bean counters need these reports on a monthly basis.
It takes a workday to create such high level a report with the software available. If they don;t do their books with a software package, then they got a real Problem.
As someone who has participated in creating such reports:
It takes significantly more time than one day. And yes, appropriate software is used.
Not to mention the additional time necessary for everyone else to insert the latest data for the area he is responsible for so the accountant can do his work.
Not to mention having the report validated.
Not to mention having the report printed in a nice format before you show it to the external auditors.
It is also costly because not only the salary for the accountant needs to be priced in but also the quite significant time invested by all the others to enter the newest data. Plus the fee for the external report checkers. And of course the cost of the audit.
Depending on the company size thats 2+ weeks for external reports and at least a week for internal reports.
<snip> I was later told that the news media is not responsible for reporting the truth. We could go for slander against them but it would just make us look worse.

I didn't know they had done that but seems it still hasn't or probably will not stop people trying to discredit the article as we are obviously seeing.
I work for a business that owns it's own parking lot in the middle of downtown. One of the business owners next to us was interviewed by the news paper saying that the parking problems downtown are our fault because we don't open up our parking to everyone who wants to come downtown.

If you and the "blind man" went to different reputable news outlet and explained how a blind man's story was taken for a media spin. I'd had a hard time believing they wouldn't run the real story. Retractions at that time could be considered prudent.
It always will end up depending on how the article's feedback goes. If the public sees the deception and pushes to where it hurts the reputation and thus the bottom line of the publisher; they will eventually admit their faults. If the public simply sits on their hands however, time will pass and it will end up forgotten and cast aside.

I think you might be alarmed at how that case will go. A solid case for CR being a limited-purpose public figure could mean that CIG will have to show not just negligence, but actual malice on the part of the Escapist.
Even without that standard, CIG will have to show negligence. Escapist took multiple steps to verify sources, and sent the article to CR prior to publication (and, unless Escapist is flat out lying, didn't include the response due to an issue they were unaware of at time of publication). CIG will have a hard time proving negligence.
And this is all after CIG very well may have to provide spending reports to prove the claims of mismanagement of funds are false and defamatory in the first place. Do you think the courts will just take CR's word that the funds received were spent appropriately?
You're being suspiciously tone-deaf regarding the lawsuit threat. We shall see how it goes, but just the story being false isn't grounds enough for a successful lawsuit. There's more to a defamatory lawsuit than just the truthfulness of the claims made. Especially where public figures are concerned.
Consideration of the motivations of those involved, is typically a good idea in these types of situations. As for the merit (or lack there of...) of the various allegations, those remain to be seen.
In any event, this has followed an all too predictable course. I now return you to your regular mud slinging... ^^
You're replying to the wrong one.
No one of note should care, it's a straw man argument and a red herring.
If anything there is nothing to warrant DS being involved in this. They specifically and repeatedly said he wasn't in any way and there is nothing that points to him being involved.
It reflects poorly upon the SC fanbase and Roberts himself to keep pulling his name. Very few people actually played his games, he's made only relevant because of this absurd rivalry and he doesn't have anything to do with this.
No one cares, and if they did no one should.

Are you joking? They have time and money to produce high quality brochures and commercials for spacecraft. I am sure they can spare someone for 1 day to create a simple report.
So you are saying they need to do all this "extra work" because they normally don't do their accounting at all? But, if they do their accounting then how is this extra work?
Again this is utter nonsense. No one needs to enter the newest data, no one needs to validate anything extra, they already do that every month. That is of cause assuming they do their accounting correctly.
No one is asking for an Audit. A high level financial overview of where the money was invested, spent and how much of it is left would suffice.

You could be right. I got my info from SC's subreddit, they were making out it was a fresh addition to the store this weekend.
Even without that standard, CIG will have to show negligence.
