This isn't true. The design is that you can spend a maximum of $750 per month topping up your e-wallet if you want. The most it is planned to hold at any one time is $250 (250,000 UEC). That will be more than enough to buy various ships, ie a Constellation will cost between 250,000 and 325,000 UEC so at most, you would only need to earn 75,000 UEC in game to buy the more expensive hull.

Please link the information source about ship prices. To my knowledge no prices have officially been named yet. Would be interesting to hear where those numbers come from which you use as an argument.
If you could please, explain how ships will be earned in game. If you say with in game currency, could you explain how the economy will work. How much will ships cost in game? Will there a be a cash to in game currency system? Thanks.
Shouldn't exotic ships be really hard or tedious to get?... Regardless of the way they're selling them for money... when it comes to a game like this, doesn't the hardcore gamer (especially those on sites like this) want things to be hard to accomplish in these games, as otherwise it is too easy and hurts longevity?

$1 = 1000 UEC, that's the only information that is applicable at this time. There has been nothing to imply that ship prices will be higher in the PU and nor would it work. Some people originally claimed that ships would be 3x more expensive but I doubt they were thinking what that would do to the P2W debate.
Like opening the alpha for every backer regardless when they backed? Before you needed to pay 5$ to play modules (with the possibility to pay more bucks for upcoming modules) after the alpha slots were full. All original alpha backers got 10000UEC onto their account.
Free alpha for all was the free stuff. Some people may want more... some people always want more and are never satisfied.

So basically you invented those prices yourself because so far there is no official indication that pledge package prices are directly related to in game ship prices at the rate you mentioned. Official stance is as it always was: Playtesting with active economy module will show the best values.
I havnt followed this game much, but i was wondering. Are people able to play these ships they are buying with some kind of early alpha or something? or are people just buying ships so when the game comes out some day they can use them?

It's called logic and the non-existence of conflicting information, it allows a person to draw a reasonable conclusion from what's available.
We know that $1 = 1000 UEC, we know the conversion rate in the PU has not been implied to be different. Thus we have a fair basis for making an assumption.
You were the one claiming that you could only spend a small amount of money and only hold a small amount in your e-wallet, $750 and $250 are not small amounts by any measure. You claimed you could only buy small, somewhat trivial items which is clearly not the case. Perhaps you'd like to tell me again who was inventing things and making false assumptions.

About two dozen ships are already playable in Alpha. Almost every month more are being added. Especially those that are also needed for the Squadron 42 solo game (e.g. the Hornet and its variants or the multi-player Retaliator torpedo bomber).
we know the conversion rate in the PU has not been implied to be different.
THIS is where you make the mistake of calling your opinion a fact.
W.r.t. to e-wallet size - i claim nothing, i linked to the official FAQ. You do not have to believe me - just read the FAQ.

Non-contextual quoting does not help your argument. If you have anything to add then show me where Roberts has recently said that the conversion will be different. Taking the information we have at hand and using it to reach a logical conclusion is fine unless it can be proved otherwise.
Your earlier post stated "a very limited wallet size", $150 with $25 daily top up is not something that can be called very limited by any stretch of the imagination.
show me where Roberts has recently said that the conversion will be different.
That IS the point. Chris Roberts has not said anything on conversion rates. You can speculate that it is 1:1000. But that is your opinion. Not logic. Not fact. Just an opinion. Of which there are many.

How can it be the point? Their own bloody cash shop uses that conversion rate. That is a fact.
Where is the logic in thinking that the rate for alpha will be different from the rate at release. All that happens there is people will be pissed that they spent so much during alpha due to a high rate or people pissed that they didn't buy things while they were cheap. Capiche?
All this project has proven to me is if you offer people video game immersion they have been craving for years. They will throw money at you even without any proof and in some cases ruin their lives. Throwing money at an idea that hasn't manifested much is crazy gambling.
Especially when the only thing you win is a game. You don't win a house, or a car, or even your debt paid. You are giving a man with a shaky past money to forget about life in a game. We all love gaming but there has to be a limit. I thought 200 dollar founders packs were insane before SC. Now they seem like a great deal.
If people want to throw money at very far from complete ideas? I am sure the posters here on MMORPG could come up with some game ideas and even draw pictures for backers. We could even undercut Roberts by 5%. Pretty confident we would blow 100 million too. But don't worry we "promise" to work on it.
Oh our backers would want a game? They got ideas and some pictures. Talk about whiners. They want us get blood from a stone or what?

They are buying a dream, a dream of possibilities and immersion in a game. That's why there is no game mechanic nailed down at the moment to leave your brain spinning and creating your game - they are not paying for CRs Vision - they are paying for the dreams in their mind.
Every implemented game mechanic will pull them back to reality a bit more - thus less sales.
To increase the revenue you have to increase the theoretical possibilities - just sell modules like Biospheres, your mind starts imaging what you may could do with them - from creating a "Spore" or "Farmville" like minigame or to be a botanic, up to creating "outdoor like" FPS forest zones. https://robertsspaceindustries.com/pledge/Add-Ons/Biodome-Pod
When you have cake, it is not the cake that creates the most magnificent of experiences, but it is the emotions attached to it. The cake is a lie.
Where is the logic in thinking that the rate for alpha will be different from the rate at release.
The logic of playtesting the economy module in Alpha and Beta and seeing what conversion rate makes sense in game. Based on how many players go into manufacturing and trading (my guess: many, like in EVE).
The conversion rate may even be non fixed, like the PLEX in EVE.

AFAIK the players do just 10% of the market value, the other 90% are done by the NPCs to hold the market stable (basically I have no Idea how they want to implement it but that's what they said)

" As we announced during the 2015 Holiday livestream, as of January 1st we are updating the RSI
site’s Euro exchange rate. For the next five days (through December
28th) we are unlocking the previous ‘Weapons Free!’ sale to give
everyone one last change to pick up limited ships and packages at the
old rate. We hope this helps you pick up the ship of your dreams as we
continue to build the ‘verse!"
Another last chance (' change' lol) to pick up those packages! Get them while you still can! There is only a limited supply of these ones and zeros!
But seriously, when I saw this page (including the 'in stock' below the ships), I thought it was a joke at first. These tactics to make people 'donate' to the production of the game are getting ridiculous. And the 'old rate' ? What does that even mean, it will become even more expensive?
Even if this game will eventually shape up to become most the impressive expansive virtual galaxy ever, I still expect it will be basically rl cash for items. With the worst f2p grind (hardcore gameplay lol) as alternative. Meanwhile having no chance against people who just put down big bucks to buy their ships.
But impressive idea (not the game, but how he rakes in the money) nevertheless by that Roberts dude though.

So my assumptions (based on available facts) are not okay but yours are....
Good god, have you totally lost all your perspective and objectivity?
You'd think that after a 100 million bucks donated to the project, they'd give some free stuff. But that's none of my business.
Like the regular free fly weeks where you can test ships you did not pledge for ? Or various gifts like 10000 UEC ?
Have fun
You do realize that they can make as many UEC as they want at no cost to the company at all right ??
Well, what should they give instead of UEC and sales on ship? Give money back? I don't really understand what you want from them. They are no charity.
I do not want anything from them I'm merely stating the fact that their virtual currency is free to produce..
Basically if a Company sells a Currency for RL Cash the sold currency counts as a RL currency to the IRS - Columbus Nova had to experience this when they bought SOE, they had to count all station cash as $$ in the books. This is a much bigger problem if you can earn the currency for ingame actions too (basically as a developer this is a no-go due to massive tax issues) > the players are earning $$$ no matter how your game calls it when there is a direct link (either 2 or 1 way) to RL Cash.
If some dodgy China farmers are selling their gold in any game it's different cause of the involved 3rd party
PostScriptum Blizzard also dropped their RL Cash D3 auction house because of this > they made a link from RL cash to Gold.
PostPostScriptum This law is made to prevent shady money laundry
PostPostPostScriptum All independent Dev should know this - to separate the buyable currency from the earnable currency
