IF that would be a real post and the guy is telling the truth. Then if Roberts had any decency in his body he would refund the guys money and tell him he is banned from the game forever.
But of course that just wouldn't be CR now would it.
Oh boy a sale on pictures of stuff that doesn't exist! What a deal! You would have to be a complete idiot to still be throwing money down this hole at this point. How many more years can they keep this nonsense going? I remember when this game was talking 2014 release. Well 2016 is here and they are still in Alpha. Delays are common in MMO's, but this is getting a bit silly considering they have spent 100 million and barely have a tech demo. Shop wisely.

That thread in whole shows how naive and stupid people are. Some is obviously sarcastic and made up but most are real figures and them saying that they have gotten their moneys worth just playing the tech demo shows the mentality of most hardcore fans of this game, and why I guess, theyre raking in the hundreds of thousands of dollars (a day) they still are.
I suspect many of them are Euros and there will eventually be a lawsuit brought, so I am surprised that thread has been allowed to exist for as long as it has.
These SC threads continue to provide me with great amusement !
I haven't spent a dime on SC yet, but I will as soon as Squadron 42 releases. I look forward to playing the MMO version once it releases, but I'm not waiting with bated breath. I expect it will take some time yet, it's a large and complicated project, delays and overruns are expected.
Despite the dramatic allegations, dire predictions and threats of lawsuits and federal investigations, the good ship SC sails on. Nothing concrete has come from all the noise on the interwebz, which is not really all that surprising, lol

CIG support the attitude. They built a new marketing plan entirely focused on milking these guys more, as revealed by Sandi Gardiner one of these days. And they don't have any shame of saying that, but of course, quickly bringing those worthless disclaimers, like if changed the reality that its a clear exploitation of addiction, way above reasonably levels.
And probably all this is directing them to "add more fluff" to make it take longer, so it takes more time so this whale party ends. Even going to points like having the original features who brought people to pledge sacrificed in the name of "fluff to feed whales wishes", as well as obviously, throwing away their contract with the consumers and their word in the process. In the end of the day, everyone has been impacted by this shit, those who spend and those who doesn't... even crowdfunded projects that had no relation with Star Citizen can be impacted negatively by this shit, so as the genre. And my understanding is that already impacted and will become worst as this continue.

Nothing concrete has come from CIG and their fan noise too. One year late. Four years and counting.
To be fair game development on average is 4 years.
I am not defending SC I am just saying there are a few items people should take into consideration
That in no way is defending CIG. That is just corroborating more with their dishonest behavior. They are claiming that are going to deliver a game that will take 10/15 years to make under their hands (considering their own premises of what should be considered a released product) , in 5 (at the moment). After al, this game is more ambitious than others from that average. Besides, they would take that average, if in the hands of experienced teams, working already for a long time, with proper processes and engine in place, and usually doing a game for more than one platform.
Obviously their bait tactics to claim "next year or next 2 years or "it's around the corner and trust me, will worth the wait" is already very well-know and was claimed from the beginning and while justifying delays for all the stuff that they released so far. It is just a way to keep people hoping and tied and watching their new sales offers. Means nothing and those who after 4 years of plans presented "failed" (I wouldn't say that they failed, but instead, they lied about the reality of their plans/capacities for marketing) still believe in whatever they claim or present, and state the will happen next time are just fooling themselves.
A true about this project: The only unforeseen event that could happen with this project would be a Roberts plan presented to the public actually working as he presented/hyped about it (plans and hype usually going on at the same time of a ship sale).

Dont use excuses from the past to defend these guys, especially when it contradicts what they have said themselves.
They have (if you want to give them credit for everything) the biggest budget ever (and growing) and no 'corporate' over seers, they just have to 'make the game'. So why all the delays and push backs? Why has there been no real advancement of that tech demo they release last summer (until very recently)? and those 'advancements' werent anything to get excited about.
theyre 3 years into a 4 year project, what they have is something they should have had at the 9 month mark (and probably did) If they wanted to REALLY excite people a lot more 'stuff' should be done. I mean they havent even gotten the hanger mod close to presentable and that should be the cheapest and easiest thing to do. Then you have the single players and then the MMO (which I dont think ever gets done)
The arguments fan boys use to defend them are also the reason critics can cite to criticize them. To do ALL this claims to do they have to do it ALL simultaneously. The 4 (or 5) year argument is for a FULL FLEDGED MMO not a mod and a single player game. Unless they have used the past 3 years on the MMO as well then do the math.
Like I said they will release something, that something is highly unlikely (as in zero percent chance) of being anything any REASONABLE person would define as an MMO let alone a AAA one. And certainly not by this time next year, despite how the money seems to keep flowing out of thin air.

well...
on average indie firms are able to create more content in less time than a AAA game and with less people and with less money so taking the average and assuming 10/15 years might not be very accurate. HOWEVER, I would say a game of this size should have about 3 years before any content is seen and I think its perfectly fair to be concerned that that it appears at the moment all that is being done is promotional content however it doesnt mean by default that its all they are doing, we still have about 1-2 years before we can say that is for sure.
Please do not respond to me, even if I ask you a question, its rhetorical.

The sleeze that exudes from the makers of this game appalls me. The money grubbing has gone to new levels. I can't believe anyone would support this even if it's the best game ever created.
These guys have to be laughing everytime someone buys another useless item.

They didnt had 100 mio right from the start, also they had to built their team step by step, they couldnt develop the game with full force right from the start with a full team like other companies, where the financing is certain and the team is already there.
Seems like some people have double standards when it comes to SC.
Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.
So why all the delays and push backs? Why has there been no real advancement of that tech demo they release last summer (until very recently)?
There are no delays and push backs. What there is, is Roberts lying to people about when the things are coming out from the beginning, because he needs them visiting their website and hoping for "sooner", "progress", and buying more stuff in vaporware style.
He is a veteran and with plenty of people under his paycheck who actually knows perfectly well that the things that have been claimed to be released by 2016/17 won't come out just as claimed before that would come out by end 2014, worst case scenario end of 2015, EXCEPT, if they call, just like have been saying today in official email answers that, an unfinished mess, something between a prototype and a pre-alpha that "sound" like what was partly advertised, and still just touching it superficially, of "substantial game released".
I don't doubt... they probably will do that.
Either way, they are ruined (CIG, SC, crowdunding and its over-hyped fans - Roberts and a few associates are anything, but ruined) because if taking longer to actually deliver something compatible with their words and hype, people won't keep supporting them... and that's why they are so focused to keep in the vaporware-style as long as possible. Screwed in any way, better screwed richer.
I can't help but notice that the "critics" seem to have subtly changed their tone on SC.
A year ago it was: "This game is a total fraud and a scam, there IS no game, it's all a lie !!!"
Now it seems to be: "This game will be released, but it will be utter rubbish and nowhere near what was promised !!!".
I wonder how far the goalposts will move in the next 6 months ?
Not really. The critics rarely went to the level of calling it an entire fraud and an entire scam and "its ALL lie". But that was how you fans sensationalized (and continue to) any tip of criticism that demonstrated CIG doing a sort of fraud/scam, in the hope that people would dismiss the arguments entirely and not been afraid to pledge their money to help a cause that you have faith that is completely honest, otherwise "would be a total fraud and scam".

Yes. It's a scam. But they are not, in general referring to the project as a whole. In general they are referring to the consumer fraud and marketing practices. Not "Star Citizen" - the game/project/idea.
That's why it does not matter if they release the BDSSE (which is hard to believe that they will, at least under a perception of a majority of people/press, etc.). Still, many will consider that many people were scammed, many times and in different forms. And they are definitely right.

Is that a joke? Have you read any of the posts made by people? There have a been a fair few you have just said "scam" with no back up to what they are saying

They had 10 million within nine months. That was half what he said it would cost (after he revamoped the plans).
So if at that time they THOUGHT they had half of what they needed in total after 9 months why didnt they get started and in the next 6 months after that (and when the ship sales idea really went crazy) they had 35 million. So a little more than a year after starting they had a third of what they have raised in total. So why did it take them another 18+ months to get rolling and set up dn do all the things youre saying they did (in trying to defend them)?
10 million can get more than an adequate team together, 25 more million will pay them and develop the game nicely, they 70 million they have gotten the past two year should have been MORE than enough to develop something. Especially something more than people are seeing now.
this is the age of paid pre release and pre alpha play. What you see is what they have. People that think theyre sitting on some big reveal are completely naive. The whole business plan of these guys is to put stuff out slowly (not by design but by necessity and hope people are fooled into thinking it is by design) and PROFIT from it.
They had PLENTY of money in short order and they have continued to bring money in regularly, so money isnt the excuse.
Like I said IF you believe the money they claim is genuine then you MUST be disappointed with where the game is. If you DONT believe the figures on the money they have raised (made selling ships) then you MUSt be fearful the game never gets made. Beyond of course this tech demo which isnt even playable ATM.
