Wow...LMAO this post has gone far beyond civil rights...more like an argument about computers.

By the way, if you guys are arguing about what the definition of a modern "computer" is...  I'm pretty damn sure it's the one about 0's and 1's, meaning a device that runs on "bit" rates.  So a calculator is the "father" and basis of all modern computers.

On the other hand, just a regular computer can be anything used as a tool to compute.  This means your good'ol fashioned abacus is also a "computer".  Why?  I'm positively sure its definition stands for a "manuel computing device"

Lets also remember that China is the nation trying to censor the flow of information across the internet.
Yeah if your mother/father says that five hours is long enough, then you should listen to them. But your government?

Man, that does suck.  That government intervention is against the US First Admendment of rights!  I mean, I'm ok with parents saying so and so hours is long enough for you, so be it.  But the chinese government trying to control your game hours?  That's image.  I know chinese gamers will be enraged and so will I (as I am chinese).  I'm glad that I don't live in China!  I bet our president will be enraged at that totalarism, even though I never liked the president since the beginning.  But hey, it's a nation-to-nation's own policy.  But I do hope that next chinese leader that is elected or sometime in the future, will repeal all those restrictment laws.

Perhaps, they should ban the selling games that contain human-and-blood violence, including thievery-like real world imitation.  So THERE!  But then, as long as games doesn't include humans being mauled into bloodiness, or commit crimes in games that would most likely to imitate those same crimes in their community, I'd say those games are a-ok.  Mild violence should be fine as well.  That goes too for ROSE online, Pristontale, and Gunbound, because all their games are mild-violence, as I catagorise them.

While you do have a point, you're missing the big picture. This is stripping away one of the main God-given freedoms of people: to spend time how you want to for however long you want. Imagine your government suddenly saying, "Oh, we decided that you can't play MMORPGs for more than 5 hours per day." That's just like somebody coming up to your door and telling you, "You are no longer allowed to spend X amount of time doing X activity."

This is a horrible thing and makes me grateful that I live in a free country. If MY government told me that I'm not allowed to do ANY activity for ANY period of time, I'd pack my bags and leave because it NEVER stops just there. Trust me, soon there will be some new restriction on top of the 5 hour a day maximum. Then another, and another...

Some good posts here by the Norwegian and Korean guys. The problem with Americans is that they are just as ethnocentrically delusional about their own ingrained superiority as the people of Great Britain before them and as the Romans in their time. It's a cycle with Empires that they become totally myopic and treat the rest of the world like their own personal door mat. The truth of the matter is that Americans aren't better than everyone else in fact most of them are soft, thin-skinned slobs with the work-ethic of a sloth, the education of a dust mite, and the objectivity of a Salem Witch Trial Judge. But they're not bad people it's just that their government has been pandering to them and telling them they are Number 1 for so long that they don't know any different. America isn't the first Empire to be completely divorced from reality and it won't be the last. China has already officially emerged as the new Sleeping Giant and will overtake America economically probably within 10-20 years.

With that said as far as Empires go America has made a good deal of progress. Just compare them to Great Britain and the way they treated other nations and people, even their own, when they were the big kid on the block. The Crusades, etc. With things like Manifest Destiny the British Empire really did believe they could do anything to anybody and there was nothing immoral about it in the slightest. At least America at one point tried to have a decent conversation about things like Human Rights, Education for the masses, and Cultural Objectivity. That's all fallen by the wayside now with the Patriot Act II, Abu Ghareb, and Guantanimo among other things and when you look at Jim Crow and the Japanese-American internment during WWII it's difficult to find a period of time when America actually did practice what it preached but it was there, under the ignorance of the majority, it was there during the Civil Rights movement, it was there with JFK and MLK and many others.

And so it goes, world history continues, progress moves forward, and we keep asking ourselves that pressing question. Will we make it in time? Will we get it figured out before we Nuke ourselves into oblivion or have to wear Gas masks when we go out doors. Will we get it together or will we blink out like a candle in a hurricane.
