For GOD's SAKE LET IT DIE! You've taken over this perfectly good thread to have your little bitch fest about absolutely nothing. You are slamming each other's opinions, which is about as ignorant as it gets. Just shut up and drop it already. You all win. Game over.
March 14, 2006 - Star Wars producer and Lucas's right-hand man, Rick McCallum, was visiting the Ericsson Empire Awards the other night and gave Empire Online an update on the status of the upcoming live-action television series Lucas is working on.
McCallum confirmed the broadcast timeframe we've been hearing about, suggesting a start date in the fall of 2007. In the meantime, writers are busily preparing the scripts that the show will need when it goes into production.
McCallum stressed the darker nature of the series compared to the movies. "It's fantastic; we've got some incredible writers. It's going to be much darker, much more character-based, and I think it's going to be everything the fans always wanted the prequels to be. They'll be one-hour episodes. It takes place between Episodes III and IV." He also confirmed that the series will feature all-new characters, and that it would likely start off with several bounty hunters. If an hour of new Star Wars with rebels, Imperials, and bounty hunters doesn't whet the excitement and anticipation of Star Wars fans, what will?

Gives me alittle hope. However the idea of Star Wars as a TV show still makes it feel like it's going to cheapen it too me.

Ack, sorry. It's so big and green I can't figure how I missed it! Your case uses a lot of assumption. You're assuming that everyone knew there were no Jedi available at the start, although the game states that you can follow the path of the Jedi right on the box. You're also assuming people would have been happy had Jedi never been included, even though a huge segment gravitated towards pursuing that profession as soon as it was introduced. I would think the contrary, and that the forums would be constantly seeded with posts asking how people are supposed to expect to believe this was a Star Wars game if there isn't a single lightsaber to be found. But this is the problem with theories. I can only agree with the people who say, "there are no hordes of Jedi in this timeline." But even without actual "Jedi" I would argue that the game must find some way to introduce the force as a playable factor. If you pull the fantasy element out of Star Wars it just becomes a glorified Battlestar Galactica, IMHO. -d
That is a great idea actually. Oh, I would play that if they could come up with a way to have the gameplay inside the capitol ships not seem limiting and not make it a space sim only. IE I wouldn't want to rehash EVE or Deadspace with Cylons instead or something.
Anyhow, like I said, speculations abounded in regards to how to become a Jedi, but "most" were quite happy with Jedi being unattainable for most. The problem came when they were attainable. Then "most" felt they should be one of the "few" that should be allowed to be a Jedi. It was a funny time for the game IMO. It's part of why I thought that the Jedi implementation ruined the game for some time. I am sure that there would have reached a period where implementing FS would have been required to some degree in my imaginary "no Jedi in SWG" scenario. But I would think that having FS skills would have been easier to maintain in the overall scheme of things than adding the alpha Jedi.
Back to the topic, like I said in my first post on this thread, I think the rumor by the OP is just too good to be true. Nice goal to hope for though, LOL.
Check Google news, (search George Lucas), many sites are quoting producer Rick McCollum with the quote I posted saying George Lucas will write the episodes. It is possible they misquote him, or in his enthusiasm he phrased it wrong. Here is one link:
Lucas agrees to write Star Wars TV series 16/03/2006 - 19:02:58
Star Wars creator George Lucas has agreed to write a 100-episode TV series of the classic sci-fi epic.
The series will focus on the missing years between Revenge Of The Sith and the original Star Wars movie, released in 1977.
Producer Rick McCollum said at Monday night's Empire Awards: "We're very excited - we just got confirmation George Lucas has committed to writing the Star Wars TV series.
"I guess this is the news all fans have been waiting to hear."
Filming on the TV series is expected to commence next year.

Thats the worst news I've heard in a awhile. I hope he has some people colaberating with him on the writing because StarWars was good in spite of GL. The Phantom Menace is a great example of what he's capable of when he operates without anyone elses input. *shivers* hideous
Flame if you will, but the movies (and who contributed to them) speak for themselves.
Well confirmed good news from Billy West's website...

Well IMHO regarding to the original post... I've seen posts like this before, about 6 months back. I didn't believe it then, I don't believe it now. If it did happen I would half expect to see a flying pig just when I open the window, and of course submit my credit card for several more years of LA's pleasure spending .

too lazy to read through all those replies but for the OP i hope this is true more then anything. Would be cool if since its after ROTS, Vader goes around hunting all the jedi and if you have a jedi he can hunt u which is sorta like a permadeath thing going on. But i dunno no one would go for it ,would just be cool as hell.
How good would it be? Every Stormie takes a shot...hehehe Bestine. Squads roam the planets for just these players. Anyone can take a shot when they are in combat??

They also posted their new MMORPG will not be anything that requires licensing (like starwars would).
