Im confused, this thread isn't even about how bad his dress code is, it is about the principle discriminating. The principle, vice principle or even the head of the department don't have the right to just make up rules. They are voted on by the PTA. Since it is a public school and the parents pay taxes they have the right to vote on policy. The VP or Principle, whichever one it was was in the wrong, not thanatos.
as for following the dresscode? As long as you aren't disturbing class most teachers don't give a dam what you look like. No other students are offended by how people dress, so I think people should just get off of others backs.
PS: Thanatos, are you in the "thanatos" clan in AA?

Ah, no I'm not. There are a lot of thanatos's out there tho. Greek god of death is pretty popular these days. Thanks for your opinion btw.

I bet the only people that the eyeliner distracts in possibly some of the teachers. but even then they shouldnt allow it to. but saying because you pay taxs he has to listen to you is a bunch of bull. If I wore eyeliner to school, I would have been beaten up, sent to the office, had the shit wiped off my face, and been given D-Hall.And no, I never rebelled at school, because if I did I got D-Hall. Oh wait, one time I left my top button unbuttoned and got some D-Hall, but it was rebellious as shit. And you may call me a closed-minded asshole all you want, but 88% of my graduating class is in college, I have a full ride to a good university, and he's going to technical school. So yea, my school was run by dickheads, but at least I won't be installing cable modems for Comcast the rest of my life, living in a $500 apartment, and driving an '88 Camry with 225,000 miles.
He's making the decsion of what he does with his future and so do you, being closed minded is not a good thing, and besides grades in high school have no true meaning of what is learned and hardly prepares you for life. Usually those rules drafted at the School Board level (uh, generally not the Parent-Teacher Association, no) are very general and provide the school staff (Principal & teachers) with broad discretion to interpret those rules.
Because nothing else works, you think the School Board wants to convene a hearing every time Johnny whines that he can't wear his Death To Puppies tee-shirt in history class? Hardly.

Wear it anyway, when you get suspended you get a hearing from the school board, if they say you can't wear it, then sue the school for violating your constitutional right to self expression.

If I'm paying even a penny a month, I should have some say in what I'm spending the money on. I only own 1 share of Wal-Mart, but I am still technically a co-owner of the company.

a good job and pay is equivelant on cost of living for an area, if you can make before tax approx 75k in one yr thas a decent job and more depending on when you work. I have a job that pays me 35.00 an hr during the week and 100.00 an hr on the weekends. I have not taken any college classes outside of ones i did for fun. I have an out put of approx 2.5k a month in expenses and the rest is mine to do with as i wish. before this job i had another making 35k a yr but had 2/3 to 1/2 the cost of living but i went with the one that paid more and gave me a way to make more if i decided to, example is work on the weekends. they have no care on what i wear on my face or how many peircings i have or where my tattoos are placed. if you look you can find descent jobs with out the hassle of college and some of the hoops they have you jump thru. but if you can go to college im actually happy for you, yes it makes getting that descent job abit easier but not always a given.
Were all not honor students, and I think its wrong that you look down upon people like me because we don't want to go to college. You think my job isn't important? Its people with these two year certs that keep your computers in top shape, and that keep these websites running.

Actually, I don't need a 2 year cert to fix my own damn computer. My apologies. I didn't say I looked down on you for not going to college, I said you are an underachiever for settling for less. There's a difference.
actually, I doubt you are even paying that towards his school system, being that you live in a different state than him. Yeah, you do have a right to a say in the walmart thing, but no one would care what your opinion was there because it is so miniscule.

Thanks for coming up with an exception to my rule of thumb. I wasn't aware that a very very very small percentage of people with no degree make pretty good money. Thank you for the enlightenment. Maybe I should get out into the real world so I would be aware of these common sense kind of things...

Sorry, it just seems as if you are when you call us "underachievers". Remember, we are the ones that hold you and the big boys up on your high horse. Thats good you can fix your computer, but can you hold a website up? What if a website just drops? What can you do then? Its people with these certs that fix it man. Its not my branch mind you, but I know that it requires these same type of certs that can be achieved in a couple of years.

And how much exactly are you paying for him to go to school? A HUGE amount right?
And quite telling me about the "Real" world when you clearly have not had any experience in it.
For real, we all live in the real world. I'm just not satisfied with surrounding myself with underachievers such as yourself. But my world is every bit as real as yours, I assure you.
I'm no underachiever, just because I'm an individual you assume I'm an underachiever? I'm working hard to get my certifications just so you know. What are you doing with your life? You going to college? awesome, but I'd rather have a decent paying job when I get right out of highschool. I hate school, its boring and I don't wanna pay a bunch of money. I realize I could go to lawschool and be a lawyer, or go to medical school and be a doctor, but to be frank I know I don't have the grades to get into lawschool. I'm not an underachiever but I sure as hell am not an overachiever honor student either. I respect you if you want to go to college, but I'm right under college graduates with my certifications I'm going to get.
If you're satisfied with a 2 year certification, and you know you're capable of doing something better with your life, I think you're an underachiever. If you don't have the grades to get accepted to college, I call you an underachiever.

Maybe not, but I have an open mind. I understand how people work, in school and out of it. I know how the government works, I know how our elections don't mean anything. I know how you will get cheated in jobs the same way you will get cheated at school. You know what I HAVE experienced the real world. Its the same as the school world, just you don't get paid for going to school. At least your boss has the right to control you because hes paying you to do w/e the heck he says.
Me and my fellow taxpayers are paying for you to go to school, so by your own string of logic, I can boss you around.
+1 Joe.

I didn't say I looked down on you for not going to college, I said you are an underachiever for settling for less. There's a difference.
