I recall seeing screen shots of Dark & Light and getting very excited. Even more so when I read the FAQ and feature list of the game. Then there was even a few in game videos of the terrain and view distances. I was already reaching for my wallet to grab the old credit card, but still past experience told me to wait and see.
The point I am trying to make is that a few screenshots is not proof of something being awesome, great or even something that is going to be released (see Gods & Heroes). It is nice to see darkfall finally stepping out of the closet after so long to touch base with reality, but it still has a very long way to go before it sheds the vaporware stigma is has.
Really, devs can post all they want on their webpages about how awesome their game is going to be, but a free screenshots and some words don't make that a reality. This also wouldn't be the first game were rabid fans have very thin skin dealing with naysayers about a game that is very questionable to say the least.
I love what the devs are hyping about this game, but so far that is all it is. The game honestly is sharing similar characteristics with other high profile games that aimed high and fell hard. I hope the game turns out well just so that there is more variety in the genre if nothing else. For me, maybe it brings back a little of the early Ultima Online magic from years ago.
They give us plenty of information about gameprogress, but for those who don't care if its release or not don't go and read every news that has been published. So they only look at the vids and draw their conclusion from it.
We have 850 screens and a few videos, Many of the screens and vids have dev-comments behind telling us wich progress that have been done.
But you trolls are not the only one who whants more information, 50k others at the official forum whants it to. But we know how the devs works and they have told us why they do like they do. And we trust their words when we read it in devchats, interviews and common newsupdates. Wich you don't. With the lack of trust I can't even see why some people even are here. More then create trollthreads.
This has been stated many times;
But the game itself has not been in acctually development since 2001. 2003 they moved to greece and by 2004 they had a staff covering most areas. And why can't a game be in development longer than others?.

I'm skeptical of it too, but why do you even bother posting this kind of thing? Everyone is aware that the Darkfall devs are very tight lipped, for what reason we can only speculate. For most games, a lot of stuff in that list doesn't come out until beta or later. They're a very weird company, I'll admit though.
-snip-
Thank you for informing me, but I would like to point out that I am actually supportive of darkfall, and I very much would like it to be released. When I mentioned that they were a weird company, I am referring to the stuff I've read about their military connections, some contradictory stuff they've said, etc etc.
It took them all of 7 full years to get 50,000 people registered on those boards. How many of those do you think are even around anymore or care? MAYBE 50%? So you can go ahead and cut that number down to 25k. And it's probably even less than that.
Compare that to games like conan and Warhammer that both have over 500,000 people signed up just for testing.
I joined the Vanguard forums about a year before the game released and I was number 16,000 something. Not saying vanguard wasn't a huge mess, but by the time it released it had grown exponentially. No one is going to sign up to their forums right now. I think a lot of people would once the game gets closer to release (as in, a release date announced) or for beta. 50,000 actually seems pretty impressive to me given that.
50k others at the official forum whants it to. It's reality check time again. It took them all of 7 full years to get 50,000 people registered on those boards. thast what advertising does for ya bud sorry you need to stop with your crap

I agree with most of your post except the "hyping" part. The devs aren't hyping the game at all. I wouldn't consider occasional updates, anywhere from 2 weeks to months apart, and zero advertising as hyping.
There's a large lack of information and specifics about Darkfall. Hopefully it will be completed and live up to its promises; we can only wait and find out.
The OP listed a lot of things that were correct, but for some reason is adamant about it being vaporware. OP can't prove Darkfall doesn't exist, and other people can't prove it does.
Hopefully it will turn out to be a great, fun game. In the mean time, I can understand why the devs aren't giving a lot of information about the game. When the game is almost complete and ready for open beta, then we'll probably hear more about it. Maybe it will be 6 months from now or maybe a few more years.

By hype I meant all the features that they claim to be putting into Darkfall. It is a very ambitious project to say the least, but if done right will be a very fun game to play.
Yep, thats seems to be what some trolls think. So its a good thing we can think abstract thoughts and understand things...even if dont see them. Snakes lack that ability.

well all we know is the onyl thing thats not in really is prestige classes until after rleease had to put them on back burners
And i dont know about you, but i really think the prestige "classes" are out of place. I cant see any point of having them in a MMO as DF. OK, you can get a nice looking medalion from some church...but that doesnt mean you are a special "class".
If the players want "classes", they can make them themselves. But thats just what i think.
i've not really been following DF closely at all in the last 6-months, but the OP is just trolling...
and many items on his 'list' are inaccurate, or patently rediculous things to gripe about (he hasnt seen a video of someone 'gathering' resources, and no one has given him a walkthrough of the quests yet). FFS
whether or not DF ever reaches Beta / release, people are entitled to their hopes and dreams. I for one hope it does make it (just to piss off the trolling 'its vapourware' camp).
However, the blind rabid fanboi mentality is equally as irritating, hopefully the game will have an adult (18) rating on the box so mommy / daddy wont buy it / pay subscriptions for them.
YOU WANT TO KNOW WHY IT IS TAKING SO LONG?
They are amateurs who were making a game with little to no idea of the technical and manhour requirement. That game has changed in scope to try and compete with titles released and in development by the major game studios. We have seen this with the graphics overhaul, for example, and you can be sure the 'content requirement' has exploded exponentially to what they had originally envisaged.
No doubt there are technical obstacles every step of the way that take time they hadnt considered due to their inexperience, and the fact they are trying things never done before.
Every MMO nowadays massivly overruns time schedules...
So, dont hold your breath, and if it ever makes an Open Beta be happy ...
I swear to god there have to be 15 people who post with this exact same tone with NOTHING better to do. You're not offering anything new, if you don't like it, gtfo.

When I suggested Prestige Classes back in 2001/2002 I put it out more like a solofriendly alternative. We've had a long talk about it and back then, people seems to like the idea very much. But I think the devs know what they doning. And I like to see the game before they concider it to be in.
It was my first "First page news" =D.

Only way i can understand presitige "classes" is if you are for example: working for the church and you swear to protect something, and as long you stay and do that......and have the right skills.....you can add the title "paladin" if someone cares to look at your character.
But this is important for me: you need some skills to make it. You dont get new skills to become a prestige "class".
Since Post Count and Join Date matter so much to some of you. I have over a 1000 post and a join date of 2003. Does that really matter though? I honestly still do not understand why most of you get so bent out of shape, when we call it vaporware. Ubergoober and Seaglion (sorry if I spelled it wrong). I can understand them getting bent out of shape. They seem to take their love of Darkfall to extremes. I mean have you ever heard them start posting about it? Scary stuff, they talk about it like it's the second coming of jesus or something. I don't really understand how anyone could love a game that much, but I guess to each his own. To those Darkfall followers that haven't reached that fanatical point in their daily praising of Darkfall. Let me just say don't go that route.
I make no secret of the fact that I believe Darkfall to be vaporware. Yes I use to be one of the people interested in it. If you believe that Darkfall will be released that's fine. Just don't get bent out of shape when someone says otherwise. Just keep your composure and realize this. If it does actually release, even if it releases as something totally different then what is promised, you get the last laugh. Because the game will have actually been released. If saying "I told you so" fits your personality you will be able to say it till your hearts content.
Forums are a great medium for communication, but the Darkfall forums has become a pit of hostility with "believers" and "non-believers" on each side. It's ok to ignore some things, there is no need to make hostile post towards everyone and everything that don't praise Darkfall. There was really no need to even reply to the OP's post if you all thought it was bogus. You could have just ignored it.
In War - Victory. In Peace - Vigilance. In Death - Sacrifice.

I've don't have a problem with folks that think it's vaporware. I can't say it's not. But it's how they choose to give their opinion about it, they can elaborate in a more mature manor. Don't you think?

Darkfall website is probably the one with most nonbelievers with no interest in the game except pissing of the fanbois. Without these characters Darkfall forum would work just fine.

Reason why there is so much hostilness on Darkfall forum is that people not interested in game post negativeness 100% of the posts they make. Immature characters with needs to piss people off.

I thought that too, but it seems they done it 4 times. Read it on the Darkfall forums last day. I try find the quote.
