So I ask for the 3rd time, just who the hell is the NA publisher that Av has to pay money to since there is no box, no advertising, no shelf space, it is a torrent download, no customer service, etc, etc, etc.....
FRAUD sounds like the name of the publisher to me.

FRAUD or not (which I'm sure it isn't) it appears you tards don't know how to read this:

"Clarification: American players wanting to clone and transfer their characters do not have to buy another client. Everyone else needs to buy the American Darkfall client to play on the American server."

That is a misdirection. They do not have to buy the american client but have to then wait three months. I.e. a clever way of saying that they dont have to buy it but if they want to be there at start, which most people will, they have to buy it.

Tasos is a scammer and this whole game is one big scam.

Yep, that has the Tasos brand all over it. What a guy!

next time get your parents or some eligable adult read things before you fork over your/their cash to buy a game.
take a look at EVERY other MMO out there, yes you guessed it, same shit.
Me and my friends waited for NA release (after playing beta) because we knew there was a 99.9% chance that transfers wouldnt even be available.
I say its all the people fault for not thinking or reading properly. Period.
now either play EU, play NA or play WoW, either way, shut up and play already.

Someone posted....a hellova lotta people posted.  Wake up.  When I purchased my car, no where did it say that I can actually frive away with 4 wheels.

Get ready to pay more to transfer.  In order to transfer, you'll have to be an active subscriber on the EU server, so thats $15 buck there, then pay a transfer fee, and knowing Aventurine, lets say its $50 bucks too.

Then after Aventurine completely botches the transfer, you'll be sitting with nothing anyway.  All I can say is good luck to you and your boyfriend in NA.

I think we all understand that the ability to transfter your account from a region to other is exceptional. Most games (There are exceptions) don't let you move your character, account or whatever from a region or other. If you buy the UK version, and the game is managed by a company like GOA, you are screwed. If you want to play on the USA server, you have to buy the USA client, and start from scratch, there are no character transfer.

Thats how almost all (there are exceptions) MMO's work. I hate it, but is how it work.

You are asking the wrong question.

The real question is... whos the publisher in USA? If the publisher is... Adventurine USA. Then yea, maybe AV sould habe let the people with EU clients have a USA account has a "gift" or convert one account into the other. Since is a no-economic transfer, I don't think you have to pay taxes for that. No money transfered, no taxes needed. If the publihser on USA is a different company than Adventurine, then hell.. yea.. all you guys are doing QQing.

Holy wow, this made my head hurt trying to read this.  Maybe you should let your parents or some "eligable" adult write your next post.  It may be a bit more comprehensible.

Suckers, you've all been paying for Open BETA.

Anyway, the whole paying multiple times per region is not new. Blizzard has been doing it since always, problem is no one in their right minds would play outside their region if there's servers in their own region. This is where DF screwed up.

If you look at  AION, you can go play it on Asian servers, but they'll probably make it VERY difficult for you to get in from outside Asia [nevermind the language issues] , and if you DID get in, you KNEW you will have to buy everything AGAIN when it launch in the US/EU.  DF, on the other hand...not very upfront....

If you live inbetween the EU and US, like me, you would have noticed this "nuisance" long ago. I own two copies of WoW, the US -client- and the EU -client- . It's 2 different boxes, 2 different clients, 2 different accounts,2 different subs. I can't transfer between them either. Each time i had to pay the full price for the account, fortunately blizzard gives you 30 days playtime WITH this purchase. So your $50 = the box/discs/account + $15 free sub.

You can't be dumb enough to try and say playing Aion on a china server is the same as Darkfall NA players being pissed about the current situation.

Are American Aion players being invited to those servers, while being told there will be some sort of transfer function for them to use?  No, they're likely not saying anything to ask people to go play there.  It's entirely different situations.

There's absolutely nothing exceltional about being directly told that transfers are allowable, but hide and deceive about the re-purchase of another account or pay similarly to actually transfer.

No one, for the most part, is one step ahead of a scammer, if the target, the purchaser of a product or service for a fee, is lead. . .actually lead to believe in writing that they will be allowed, not 'charged' but 'allowed' to transfer their character to another server. There is nothing exceptional about this.  And to top it off, just to make sure the patsy's are had, the scammer dictates at the 11'th hour that there will be one character per "account". . .not one character per "server" as was also once told.

Telling players from a region, that will be able to be transfer to other region is hardly the norm. I wish where the norm, and not exceptional, but that what we have.

There is one significant different between DF launch and that of other games.

Take WoW.  When WoW launches, we know there are two clusters of servers, namely NA and EU servers.  We know right away that the box we buy is US or EU version.  Asian versions were later introduced, ... eventually I heard there is even a Russian version.  Each of these are clearly marketed as different, as the game is localised.  Most important of all, there are multiple servers in each region.  People can make multiple characters in each server and in multiple servers.  There is no reason or need to make characters in the other regions.  If I make a character in every server in the NA servers, it will take me a lifetime just to level them all.  If I make 10 characters in every server, I need to pay an army to play them all.

DF launches only 1 server in EU with very vague information on what next to happen.  They also allow only 1 character per server, which frankly is a disappointment for many gamers who likes to make alts.  When they first said 1 character per server, it appears to tell ppl that alts can be make when other servers are launched, much like SWG.  Now, hideously, the words are changed to 1 character per account.  That is a way is a huge letdown, and to many its out right cheating.

Is it worth the trouble to sue AV for that?  With this business volume, AV is heading to bankrupcy.  Sueing it will do not one no good, as the attorney fees alone rules it out.  AV will lose the legal dispute and go insolvent, leaving the legal bills in the air.

Smart business move on their part, for sure.

Alienating your consumer base is never smart business.

Maybe some people don't get it.

Not everone is worried about the money.

Av is working with intent.  They didn't just decide to charge, they KNEW they would be charging.  They said nothing for 4 months, and invited NA players to buy the game cause we could just transfer when a new server opened.  They change the info on the FAQ from one character per server to per account, after the magority of sales had gone through.

    They did this with intent.

    It's misleading.

It's not the money.  It's the feeling of being scammed.

I guess this is a classic example of: I told you so ?

Just seeing their website and the horribly outdated FAQ that still hasn't been updated says more then enough and SCREAMS scam!!

How many times have they said to come up with a new website? Right.

They never bothered to update their FAQ, but when it comes to things like these they are suddenly able to change / update things on their frontpage afterall.

    LOL.

Can anyone link the "free transfers" bit that  AV said? that way it will just shut everyone up :) i know they are saying they are charging now, but somewhere they must have stated free transfers or we wouldnt even be arguing about this.

Its understandable that these kind of mistakes happen,

Its a bit like the DDO thing, its going free in america but not in EU.

However these terrible things do keep happening to Darkfall, and while the forums are just full of Trolls I'd have to say I love Darkfall the pure commedy and the posts people come up with.

I doubt I would ever buy Darkfall, but I seem to be constantly on the forums, lol

Perhaps the game was/is so good that "If You Bought It Once, Surely You’ll Buy It Again And Again."
