I'm generally more attracted to girls in a game than I am to girls in real life. I just love their voices and start to fall in love. Then, there was this one girl that I met in real life from my guild; to this day, she's still my dream girl.
Gotta love your honesty. I can't say that pixels really do it for me but I will say that the idea of having a gamer girlfriend seems like it would be pretty cool, well, so long as we both had systems.
Rule 30 of the Internet: There are no girls on the internet. Your all morons for even imagining such a possibility..
This entire post is based on a fallacy. There are no women on the internet. Make believe. boys wanting to be girls. Go outside and clear your head.
Rule 3: insert foot up your ass

Eh I kind of get where you are coming from, fiancee is a gamer just not an mmo gamer x.x trying to bring her over to the mmo-side. maybe one of these days...
I knew a lot of women in their 20's who played AoC; that obviously didn't save it from doom.
Just because the majority of us, including myself, tend to think with our penises doesn't mean there are not limitations.
1. For god's sake mmo gamers, enough with the analogies. They're unnecessary and your comparisons are terrible, dissimilar, and illogical.
2. To posters feeling the need to state how f2p really isn't f2p: Players understand the concept. You aren't privy to some secret the rest are missing. You're embarrassing yourself.

I feel I socialize a lot better with women than with ..girls
So I try to stay away from HelloKitty, certain WoW chats...jee, even EVE has a sparse few girls who are just terribly annoying attentionseekers with no grasp of the game except to pretend to be in the "know"
However, there's one thing far worse than that actually...
The very average teenage boy who often curses , shouts at how bad everyone else is and how much of a smacktalking PvP god he is... and sexualizes everything that resembles a "female"
Sorry if my post offended anyone, its merely meant as an honest opinion
Seriously... I mean, girls play games, we know this, and a few even play mmorpgs, we know this also, but by looking at the Aion FB page it looks like this game has managed to appeal to the female player base in a massive way. And we all know that where girls go, boys follow...
I'm not going to read all 6 pages but judging from the first page a lot of you seem clueless to the fact that girls have more appeal to asian centric type games... games like this, and particularly Final Fantasy have a 'ton' of females playing them. I don't blame some of you though, seeing as most western gamers have never played outside of the westernized style rpg.
I'm not sure I am ready to subscribe to this theory about girls loving Asian grinders... but I did want to ask, when you say "a ton", do you mean 5% of the player base instead of the usual 2%?

I'm not positive about how the western world would be impacted, but in the East alot of girls game and MMOs are included.
This won't change the numbers that much. It does not have mass appeal to females like it could. Yes, Hello Kitty is aimed at a bit younger audience, but it's something familiar IRL, that people can pick up on, and might try. Aion is much more for gamer girls.
This is not going to bring a new, huge group of females that did not play games before like wow brought in people who had never tried mmos before.
Sorry :. But I am sure this post will serve it's purpose. Most guys will see it, and the tiny head will prevail and they will want to play for the "girls".

It won't change the overall numbers that much but I'd be willing to bet in terms of the population of women/girls that game, Aion will hit a good portion of that player base. The fact is that most women in the western world just aren't interested in gaming and those that are usually haven't gotten into MMOs. But that's also changing with gaming getting more and more into the mainstream and media like G4 having alot of female reporters/hosts, movies that are now motivated by games or games by movies, and how much the gaming industry as a whole is rising up the ladder as a revenue generating machine.
have to watch out for guys pretending to be girls though.. theres a lota pervs out there..
Plus... i know one thing about you nerds.. my GF played EQ2 and as soon as you little puberty patients think your grouped with a girl; you make special exeptions for that char.. and even in some cases; give away free gear.. people know this and will pose as girls to get some hand outs.

As shallow as some girls are, this does not offer things many girls who are not mainstream gamers want. Yes, the graphics are great and the avatars can look very pretty. But that's it. Your normal gamer girl, this is just another mmo, and if they like this type, they will play it. A girl who has not played an mmo before, may look or try Aion at a friends, but most likely won't be interested, especially since this game lends it self to being a rush to the end, and not about the journey, or being able to do anything else in the game, but grind/quest/level.

Funny you say that. My younger sister used to play WoW and GW, and all of her toons were male, for that very reason. She said she got sick of all the nerds hitting on her, and it was harder for them to act like then when her toon was a male tauren.
Besides, the idea that a forced-pvp game will draw women just because they can be 'pretty' characters...yeah, sure.

So it's actually the other way around OP. Women are playing Aion to hunt the men... in more ways than one.

"HOW SHE OUTSMARTED A BRUTAL RAPIST" Such an edgy but great headline....generally Cosmo and other magazines like Vanity and Vogue just have great catchy headlines
Besides, this particulairy one would be fun to exploit for a story in an MMO, similair stories do happen you see ^^
After reading 15 pages of this thread I have a couple views on the subject.
1.) I love the idea of playing games with women, it adds a new element and "Some"times promotes people to attack a little more mature.
2.) A lot of guys in this thread have insecurities about the opposing gender resulting in attempted insults about their ability to function in a game. I have played with both good and bad female pvpers. Who cares? Are you really going to play the girls are icky card?
so I have a question for you... Are you secretly into men?

I am attacking both sexes, even giving females the advantage somewhat
So perhaps I am secretly into sunflowers and seaweed instead ^^

Well they mislead with headlines like that... a BRUTAL rapist is worse than a kind, gentle and caring rapist... cause you know, it's all about tact.

Haha, I didnt understand it at first but now I do .....thats funny ^^ :P
By the way, There are also plenty of women who will consider playing an MMO if there are more women having a good experience in there
So it goes both ways
