It was a great idea with huge dungeon for up to 6 players in the same world as the great game "Daggerfall" but it was really bad, really really bad.
Obsidian is one of the worst companies out there making bad sequels to ther companies games, but Battlespire was bad even by their standards.
I have been playing computer games since 1984 (longer if you count arcade machines) so I seen a lot.
But it has been developed and published by Bethesda Softworks (say UESP.net and wikipedia). And you got to admit Fallout: New Vegas and NWN2 were good games once you installed five hundred patches. : )
Well the only MMO like game I regret buying is Guild Wars, not the worst mmo ever, just not worth buying, and is the only reason I'm a little skeptical about GW2.
Another game I regret is Minecraft, waste of $20, great at first, but really boring after. Would rather just get some legos out.
However, the worst game I ever bought, I ever played...is a game I luckily (or maybe not), don't remember the name of. However it was a ps1 game and when I was that age I really liked cowboys and stuff, so I bought some western shooting game, I think it was called Jesse James Shooting, I don't know...it was horrible, worst combat in the history of the planet. It is the reason I don't even want to try Western games nowadays.
I did some research and I think it is this game called Gunslinger: The Legend of Jesse James.

That means that Bethesda kept an eye on the development and said yes to releasing it, yes.
I have to admit that I havn't played F3:NV, I didn't really like Fallout 3 prefering the earlier games so I stayed away from it, can't judge how good it was.
NWN2 did not impress me at all. Still the best Obsidian game I played since I at least bother to complete it and at times had fun but Biowares NWN is the best multiplayer game I ever played so it is like comparing eating at a fine resturant and Burger king, BK will fill your stomach but it just ain't the same.
Battlespire in that comparision is like eating in the dumpster behind Burger king. I bought it because Daggerfall is one of my favorite RPG game of all time (a lot better than Oblivion BTW).
I guess Bethesda was desperate for money at the time. But as I said, the idea behind it was really good, but the game still sucked really badly.
Mortal Online and way back in the day Roma Victor. Both were unplayable at their "launch". I'm a paying customer and I have to use slash commands because your interface isn't finished, are you f**king kidding me?
Do I have to only pick one? It'd have to be FFXIV because it was a buggy, broken and unplayable mess. A close second would be Warhammer though I actually had a few months of semi-enjoyment despite it being mostly broken.

You 100% sure about that? Obsidian was founded in 2003, it was previously Black Isle Studios, creators of many classics like Fallout and Baulders Gate. I never played Battlespire but a quick little research says it was realeased in 1997, so it doesn't really make sense.
Obsidian games are not terrible. They usually produce enjoyable experiences, not quite triple-A. I actually enjoyed Fallout New Vegas a whole lot more than Fallout 3.
Luckilly, I managed to convince Steam Support to refund it a good 4 weeks after release. The PC version had quite a few stability problems, and after having shown my logs where I had spoken to activision support: voila. I didnt have any REAL stability issues, but it didnt run great. That said, I thought the game just sucked.
Honestly though: That was the last COD game I will ever buy. BF3 might have something to do with that as well, but only slightly .
Rift. Despite everyone saying it was a wow clone I tried it out and got burned. All mmorpgs I can play out the trial/free month at least. Rift I put down a few days into it.
Mine is Mortal Online. Paid $75.00 over 2 years ago for the limited Edition, haven received a working client on media as of yet.
The 30 days that I paid for was also taken away after launch by them starting the clock at launch whether you were able to play or not. All in all i haven't really received anything for my $75.00 as yet.
Warhammer Online (I have no excuse for buying this, other than is SOUNDED cool, but I did get a refund because I pre-paid before beta and then during beta I realized I had made a big mistake. To Mythic's credit they refunded me promptly.)
Originally posted by Adhesive33 AoC and WAR. I've been very careful ever since, never buying anything without trying it first.
Yeah, both of those made me do the same thing... I actually kind of enjoyed WAR during beta, though, partially because I could forgive the problems with it as beta problems.
Single Player - Dungeon Siege 3. Man, what did they do to create this piece of crap. I enjoyed Two Worlds more than this, and that game sucked.
MMO - FFXIV. Maybe Square has just lost what it used to have in the FF franchise. But though the graphics are pretty darn good, so's my computer Screensaver, and I would prefer to watch that then play this game.
Mortal Online - Your account was activated right at from the start, so if you were not around during the launch you lost your free 30 days.
Mafia2 - A lot of eyecandy and ambience, but lacked a huge deal of gameplay. These days I only play it for 15 minutes and drive around in one of the cars from my garage. Driving is the only fun thing to do.
Earthrise - Luckily they never charged my copy. To be fair I never used the key they have send me.
I think i got everyone beat,...and i dont think ive seen it mention,,,THE MATRIX ONLINE...worst game ever, played it for about 3 days and couldnt bare it anymore

What about the people that DON'T play/like WoW?
I am one of them, played Rift, and I still puke a little in my mouth every time I hear about it.

WAR The salesman did his job selling poop though I thought the game had potential they just didnt deliver.
Aion (though its great now but at the time the collectors edition became my regular jibe in the house)

hmmm... my biggest game purchase regrets ever?
non mmorpg = Descent to Undermountain by Interplay.
mmorpg = geeez, take your pick. WAR. EQ2. AoC. All of the above.
That means that Bethesda kept an eye on the development and said yes to releasing it, yes.

Single Player Game:
Minecraft (Zzzzzzzz) it's just NOT for me
MMOs:
Warhammer Online (I have no excuse for buying this, other than is SOUNDED cool, but I did get a refund because I pre-paid before beta and then during beta I realized I had made a big mistake. To Mythic's credit they refunded me promptly.)
AION (same as above)

1. Horizons. Speaking of which, I just looked that game up and it hasn't been shut down yet. Hard to believe.
2. Star Trek Online. Only reason I bought this game is because a few friends wanted to try it out. Big mistake.
Star Trek Online and Rift.

There are so many... it's hard to choose.
