Effects are over the top, and in some places just plain embarassing to see in a North American product.
Linear Hand-Held Questing, even with voiced interactions, is simply boring. Not to mention developement for new quests will take several times longer to produce because of all the different choices available, but in the end it's essentially the same outcome with a momentary "feeling" that you're actually effecting the end game goal. Needless to say the final outcome is something less desirable.
Arena based PvP is pathetic, and a redesign needs to be implemented. Whenever a developer allows for BOTH Open-Zone & Arena based pvp the player's focus is split causing one to become more populated in regards to the other. Leading to one audience being completely alienated over the other. Bioware, being new to MMOs, hasn't figured this out yet .
Crafting is a joke, and is completely uninspired. Allowing your companions to craft FOR YOU doesn''t make this any easier to stomach either.
On-Rails space combat & travel is also a MASSIVE downer. What's the title called again? PlanetWars? OH WAIT, doesn't it have "STAR" in the title indicating that HUGE SPACE BATTLES would most likely be found inside? No? My fault then !
If you loved World of Warcraft, you'll adore this game.
Just my two cents from being around MMOs, Alpha & Beta testing them, since 1998

ps: Please fix your damn edit-post option. It adds like 6 lines of space between each entry!
Incredible! You didn't explain the classes you've sampled or the difference between them and their story. Did your system meet the requirements of SWTOR? From what I have seen gameplay is very smooth and graceful at 60fps, what was your fps?
Who doesn't hold your hand through quest nowadays, and for the casual player who may only have time for a few quest a week this is not a bad idea.
No one gets into pvp unless you’re on a PvP server “sure some people PvE and would like the option to PvP hints arenas”, and judging by your arena response you may have just played PvE server for the most part "that may not be accurate but you did not specify that either".
Ok lazy people who complain they never have enough time to sell/craft or the casual gamer who does not want to spend the time traveling to town to sell/craft find that sending you pet to do that for you damn good! You may be a crafting, sell, and traveling GOD, but other players enjoy having that luxury sending the pet to do it since some quest "especially group ones" can take up to an hour to complete...(hello Gibs and the repair mount from wow? Oh yea and guild mailbox – goblins have a portable banker so your argument about pet crafters just looks silly)
You talk as though you made a North American MMO and know firsthand of they want to see. Over the top graphics in SWTOR will not “break” the game, and since this is BioWare them graphics better be hot! (But then again you are 46 years old and graphics today in anything may be over the top for you)”that was a directed to Fadedbomb *lol at the name*”
Sir I looked over everything you have said and it just looks like your talking out of your butt, or your just angry that you can’t be a Wookie *sad face* People wouldn’t mind seeing and HEARING the quest givers story and choosing how you can play it out. Name another MMO that you can have your party effect the decision of what you all will do? As a matter of fact name one MMO that has 100% voice acting?
Keep your two cents as this machine only takes dollars J
Giving this game four months tops before it goes F2P with cash shop(hey, Bioware has already perfected the cash shop with their ridiculously stupid Me2 and DA2 DLC stuff)
I see you are a Dragon initate for the Secret World
Chaos theory is tinling your dragon senses yeh?
How much WoW could a WoWhater hate, if a WoWhater could hate WoW? As much WoW as a WoWhater would, if a WoWhater could hate WoW.

He is the same guy who claims that only couple of thousand players are playing Rift and Aion. He basically hates anything themepark. I wouldn't take anything he says seriously
Well I, for one, stopped following closely the whole MMO beta & announcement PR quite a few months ago, because:
1 - I'd been "into" the whole MMO buzz for years and quite frankly got tired of being over-sold and then, obviously, over-disappointed by shallow games. In fact, most if not all my 2011 games were solo/MP titles. I find it harder and harder to even consider having "fun" in timesinks and repetitive/grinding content, which is apparently all MMOG studios are willing to offer these days—bewilderingly at no less than a premium cost. Don't get this the wrong way, I love paying for quality, but I just can't do that with MMOG these days. Not that I lack the money for that budget.
2 - Star Wars is such a pop icon that it exacerbates to a ridiculous extent all the criticism generally associated with PR buzz. It's a global mess. It's impossible to form an opinion based on sole reading/watching. Take it from a guy who's highly skilled in monitoring trends—I used to make a living out of it.
And I must say that short preview was interesting and quite informative for an outsider. I saw it through my RSS feed, thought it would be a good time to see where SWTOR's at after all those months. And I like what I heard. Bioware's art of telling stories is a real treat that I always thought SWTOR would be exquisitely threaded of. Of course, should you look for a sandbox, here and now is just not the right spacetime. We're talking heavily theme-parked MMOG, and it's just what I expect of Bioware in this case.
OK, watched the whole video. The cut scenes are off the charts, the game play meh, but one thing always comes to mind when i watch anything on this game. CLONE WARS and my kids are the most dedicated fans out there.
This game is going to be a huge hit with children, there is absolutely no doubt about the amount of kids whom will be playing this game. However my kids have lost all interest in it already so not sure if we'll get a round of this game for them or not at xmas, i think they might be surprised and like it at least for a little while. Dunno?
Hated the music for this purpose, it's such a subjective thing, you should go for something less distracting because no matter what you choose someones gonna hate it, less beats and annoying noises please, don't get me wrong I love beats and over the top synth noises but not as backing for a video article.
Overall a nice addition to the site, look forward to seeing more.

First and foremost, TOR is not being aimed at children or the clone wars kiddy crowd. If you want to see how it plays and what it's all about grab yourself a key for the upcoming beta next weekend and find out for yourself. You will see that playing the game and watching a video of it are worlds apart.
Honestly, just take a look at some of the responses in this very thread. Childish banter and back and forths between haters and fans, misinformation galore as haters vent there vitriol for the day, and people making outright false statements (which they realize they are doing) simply to try and put down the game.
This is no Gamebreaker TV, that's for sure.
That having been said, I really enjoy Pokket's stuff, and always have. It's definitely nice to see her here again (pretty sure she was around in the past, correct me if I'm mistaken). If she posts weekly I'll be reading.
This is the incorrect belief that an assertion is more likely to be true, or is more likely to be accepted as true, the more often it is heard. So an Argumentum ad Nauseam is one that employs constant repetition in asserting something; saying the same thing over and over again until you're sick of hearing it.
On the Net, your argument is often less likely to be heard if you repeat it over and over again, as people will tend to put you in their kill files.

Thanks for the feedback! It looks like the biggest negative is the audio and music. I will definitely work on the audio and, as for the music, I will turn it down a bit. Perhaps it was too loud >.<
That being said, If you check out the earlier Game Face videos on my Youtube page, you'll notice this song is used for nearly all of them (but maybe the first two?). I sort of just built it up as a theme... that's why I keep using it XD Again, I'll just need to turn it down a bit so it isn't drowning the voice over.

Yeah not many of the kids on hockey i coach including my kids aren't that interested, however all seem to admit they have several friends whom are interested. Funny my kids Football team all were interested, it's a funny thing these kids could probably knock most of the people posting here (including me) straight into next year on a pair of skates, they are rough and tough so to admit they are going to play a fruity star wars game might not be top on their list of things to admit.
You have to read between the lines at times, they all have friends who are going to get it and play... Hmmm??? I can understand what you mean by don't do justice, had i went by screenshots and vids alone for Skyrim, i wouldn't be playing it, they simply don't compare.
I like the parts where people are standing motionless firing blasters, and also taking multiple blaster hits without even flinching. The combat looks like it belongs in a MMO made seven years ago...

Why blame the combat of the game and not the player. I never stood still one time while i was in combat.

Well said, music is fine imo just if you end a sentence on a high or friendly twang atst as a beat & I've lousy hearing anyway, it's harder work to follow..

You're blaming bad combat when you should be blaming bad players. Trust me, the combat isn't anything like you think it is. The videos out there don't do it justice at all.
Very nice podcast! I agree with everything she was saying except I never managed to pull myself away from the questing. The decisions that you have to make were always on my mind as to how things would play out overall with my decisions. Glad to see I wasn't the only one struggling with those choices. I normally do not follow blogs or podcast but I may have to make an exception here. But it all depends on if she can keep her articles spoiler free, since she's playing two classes that I'm not going to play first. Regardless, great addition to MMORPG.com. We need as may open-minded mmo players writing articles as we can get.

TBH I've yet to encounter anything like that in game. You don't really see people standing around during PvP doing nothing... As easy as it'd be to stand around and shoot a gun, someone is bound to target you if you're foolish enough to not move. Free kill imo.
The footage used in my videos were all trailers and probably made by marketing. So, if anything, I'm guessing they had "fillers" to add to the scenery.

Can't wait for ME3 too.
I am very glad seeing Pokket in this site. I love her.
At first I was very skeptical about SWTOR but slowly I am changing my mind about this game.
What I have seen and read so far got me very excited about this title. I am eager to test the game next beta and to watch another Pokket report.
Maybe after the incoming big beta they will drop the NDA.
