No, I want you to stop complaining about things you don't have full information about.
By using things you know less about?
I'm just suggesting that you wait until more information is availble before you turn on your "panic mode."
Edit: And seriously, are you really complaining about a completely optional feature? There is absolutely nothing in those chests that warrant all this whining. Some temporary buffs and polymorph potions. Really?

Is there a turn off mystic chest tab? If there is I apologize. I was not aware they were optional.
If you watched the video and were perceptive, you might have noticed that the Butler appears to be consumable.

Just because it drops in the game, doesn't mean that you have to use it.
Temporary buffs and polymorph potions. That's what you're complaing about. Just think about how silly that sounds.

yap.if even was anything special inside that boxes....
The armor bonus and strength bonus have been changed to offensive and defensive boost. The pick, sickle and salvage kits appear to increase your drop rates of rare resources.
I would rather they just make all of the above cash shop items rather than tying them into the loot system.

They should get rid of the armour, strength and rejuvination boosts. Possible the speed boost as well. Actually definitely the speed unless its out ofcombat only.

I agree. Those 3 things are the only ones that bother me. They just don't bother me enough to make me pass on the game.
Why do all you people keep saying you can't open the chests unless you buy keys???!!!! I mean you just said you can get keys as drops and then the very next paragraph you say it's repulsive that you have to buy keys??? WTF??? Let's go back to Guild Wars....you didn't get loot chests, but around the instanced world you'd run into chests on the ground that you'd need a lockpick for or the correct type of key for. These keys would drop, or you could buy them from merchants in cities. The drop rate on the keys were really low if you didn't want to buy them from a merchant....did you have to pay real money? No. Guess what, you still don't. Nobody is forcing anyone to do anything with the current setup. It's available to people that just wanna get a chest open now rather than wait for a key drop. Am I a fanboi?? I don't think so, but I believe Anet has proven that they put their money where their mouths are. Impatient people can bit*h all they want, I'll just put the chests I can't open in my storage until I get the keys to open them. Simple as that. Another thing to think about is this, Anet isn't forcing you to support the devs that put all the time and effort into this game, but if you're anything like me, you'll but some stuff from the shop here and there, mainly out of want or a desire but also because it helps the devs by putting money on their pay checks. Quit crying all you babies that keep lying to yourselves about what's happening with keys....YOU DON'T HAVE TO PAY IF YOU DON'T WANT! NUFF SAID!!!!
Why because it's obvious that it's the way the sytem is designed.
You have to have less keys drop than chests for it to work. That inconvenience has to be built into loot drops to get people to buy keys.
Do you have to buy the key? No. I even wrote that I will probably auction all chests and keys them all in my post.
I don't like that they are tied to loot. I know you don't get this. Maybe you are used to playing CS games and are use to it.
The fact remains. If I don't pay for keys either through gems or in game money. I won't be able to get all the loot dropped by mobs. I personally don't like this. It bothers me. This will be the first game I played that has a CS tied to loot and I personally wish Arenanet would scrap this.
I'm not sure I understand the complaint.
The keys drop in game, they are given as quest rewards in game, they can be sold by other players that got them as loots drops in game, they can be sold by players that purchased them off of the cash shop with gems, you can purchase them off of the cash shop with gems, you can buy gems with gold and use that to buy keys.
With so many ways ti get the keys .... I'm not exactly sure what the problem is. Can you elaborate for me a bit?

As I said before, there are alternative ways of opening those chests, without relying on the cash shop. So who cares? You really want that 10% speed boost, which is barely noticable btw, buy the mystic key from the AH. Besides, as far as I know, those boosts don't work in PvP and don't persist if you die.
Or just ignore them completely. It's not going to ruin your game play. Unless you really worry about what other people are doing.
Or even better, sell the chests on the AH and make some gold.
Here is a thought. Grow up and put on your big boy pants. Nobody gets to have everything that they want. That is what keeps people playing mmo's. Are you completely unable to see that the need for keys is the carrot that keeps people playing. Are you unable to understand the concept at all? You don't have to pay cash for them, you can play to get them. Not having what you want makes you work to acheive it. Someday you'll learn this or you'll end up living in a cardboard box.
I'll probably get banned for the post but it needed to be said. If they have any respect for the truth, they can edit out what they feel is offensive. I'm going to go ahead and ignore another person who doesn't deserve to share their opinion.
Here is another thought.
You don't have to lash out and attack everyone, with whom you have a difference of opinion.
Second I find it funny that you are trying to tie the cash shop with developing work ethic. I find it a stretch to say the least. I could see the marketing pitch. "It's not a Cash Shop, it's a system designed to build work ethic. If we didn't use it, you would be living in a cardboard box." I think linking the cash shop to self control would be an easier sell. But thats just my opinion.
Of course you didn't manage to understand what I said. I will do my best to approach this on a more *ahem* suitable level.
There is certain things in the game that people want. Some people like to make stuff, so they want materials to make things with. Some people like to find stuff, so they put stuff in the game for people to find. Some people like to loot stuff, so they give monsters thing to leave behind when they are beaten. Some people can't stand not looking in a closed box, because inside that box is more stuff.
If you want stuff, you'll have to work for it. You might have to go out and gather it, or maybe fight evil monsters. You might have to search low and high for stuff, and you might have to find a magical key to open a box. Yes it takes effort, but if you want to try real real hard, you can get what you are looking for.
Some people are rich and they have lots of stuff, and some people are poor because they don't have as much. Does that mean that all poor people are sad because they don't get to have stuff? No, because most poor people have enough self respect to not whine about not being able to have everything, and they just work towards what they can.
People that have lots of money like to buy stuff. The game makers say "if you want to trade some money, we will give you things for the game so that you don't have to work so hard." This is ok because that is what business' do. They try to make it fair still, so that if you work for it, you can still have all the same stuff, This is nice of the game makers, because they don't have to.
Some people think they shouldn't have to work for stuff, they just stand there holding out their hand, saying it's unfair for them to have nothing. Those people live in cardboard boxes.
The keys drop in game, they are given as quest rewards in game, they can be sold by other players that got them as loots drops in game, they can be sold by players that purchased them off of the cash shop with gems, you can purchase them off of the cash shop with gems, you can buy gems with gold and use that to buy keys.

I don't like the cash shop being tied to loot.
Keep the cash shop seperate from my loot.
I have played many mmo's. None of them have held back part of my loot before.

I don't understand how it's holding you back from part of your loot.
Again there are so many ways to get keys.
1) Buy them from other players with gold.
2) Get them as drops from mobs.
3) Get the as rewards from quests.
Thats options for the keys that don't have you going to the cash shop at all.
Then you have cash shop items.
4) Buy the gems with gold and buy the keys (No real money yet).
5) Buy the gems and then buy the keys (Finally touched on you spending money)
So.... 5 different ways for you to get the keys.
3 do not involve the cash shop.
2 have you going to the cash shop but only 1 has you spending real money.
So again........ please elaborate because I'm still not getting the problem.
Your held back from loot because your given multiple ways to access that loot in game without ever touching the cash shop?

HIs point is that its like giving someone a hot off the fryer box of Krispy Kreme glazed donuts with a padlock on it.
He knows there are goodies in it RIGHT IN FRONT OF HIS FACE but he can't get to it.
This is different than simply driving by a Krispy Kreme. Its more insidous. Even though if you paid the money in the long run it would be functionally the same. But is a much more likely inducement.
So you need to pay real money to open lockboxes.... sigh
Keys are from more places than just the Gem Store.
I got 5 boxes and 2 keys as drops in beta. Sorry but the loot just doesn't impress
That I can agree on, the loot in those chests are fairly pitiful lol. Why there is such a commotion on something so insignificant to begin with is beyond me. A polymorph potion that doesn't allow you to engage in combat, a minor buff and a harvesting tool....lol.
But I guess to some this is a huge deal even though they have at least 5 different ways of obtaining keys. Makes you wonder if they are just trolling or not.
But I got carried away, in any case... I agree the loot in those chests simply doesn't impress.

so the all entire content of boxes are just average (just to not say a crap), buffs im 90% that you only can use on pve (so all players won), plenty of keys available in world, plenty os way to get keys without spend money on shop but still you complain about something.
jesus, add me as in game friend and i will give all the keys i won. xD
When will people learn to not believe the first ignorant person on a forum ?
The post from OP is incorrect! Yes these chests randomly drop , yes you can buy keys with REAL MONEY!
BUT you can also buy those keys with ingame money. If you're really impatient then sure you'll lose some money, but if you just play the game you'll earn plenty of money keeping you from spending any real money.
Sometimes I really wonder if alot of people who seem "intrested" in GW2 do any effort at all to find some solid information.
So you need to pay real money to open lockboxes.... sigh
Yes that isnt pay to win but if you dont pay, your gonna feel like you cant get the items you grinded for and that would piss me off terribly.
Yes they need to make money but i for one HATE HATE HATE this model.
If you grind for those boxes than there's your problem you called upon yourself. If you hate them that much you could see them as trash and just destroy (or if not bound then even sell for gold and/or gems).
You also don't miss out on any loot when you're unable to open them if you didn't get a key drop; because a dev confirmed on the beta forums that those boxes don't replace any items that would drop as normal unboxed loot. They're on a separate loottable with a small chance to acquire them on top of the loot you're already getting. So just ignore them or make some cash selling them.

2) Lockboxes contain mostly fluff: potions that turn you into mobs or animals, that kind of stuff, nothing mandatory to play.

I got 4 boxes. I never got a key drop. I got one key from the personal story. Then 2 more keys from the boxes I opened.
Let's be realistic you will not be opening all the boxes you get without buying keys with in game money or real money.
Can you get keys in game? Absolutely yes. I guarantee it.
Will you get more boxes than keys? I am pretty darn sure you will be.
