Howdy, Stranger!

It looks like you're new here. If you want to get involved, click one of these buttons!

We (the carebears) have won the war!!

Yes that's right, we the "carebears" have defeated the so-called "hardcore pvp'ers".We didn't do it with swords and magic spells, we did it with our money! That's right, we have spoken and we don't like to be ganked and looted by some "1337 kiddie" who thinks he's tough because he's 20 lvls above you and 1 shot kills you while you're afk.We will choose when we want to pvp and when we don't, it is no longer up to you when you can kill us. We control you now and all the games you play, and upcoming games. Developers wont even make a FFA PVP game anymore. Want to know why, because we the "carebears" wont play it and there's not enough "hardcore pvp'ers" to make it a profitable game.

The age of the hardcore pvp MMOs is dead and gone, I for one say " it's about time". If you are that hard up for pvp go play a FPS that really does take some skill, or Eve that's all point and click and leave us to enjoy our MMOs.

its sad when someone is proud of eradicating someone elses playstyle, which did not necessarily impinge upon his own.

    Victory!

its about time PVP should be focused on FUN. not on player looting.

I'm sorry but it did "impinge" upon our playstyle, that's why we had to defeat it. You have been defeated, now give me all your stuff and delete yourself.

The PvE level-grind paradigm may be fun for some, but its tedious and pointless to others. If youre proud that you've managed to whine almost every MMOG developed into the same pattern with different graphics and a few new terms, thats a bit sad.

PvEers have their perfect game in WoW. Plenty of pointless grinding in large groups against dull NPCs and pointless or nonexistant PvP. Stop trying to turn every game in existance into WoW.

This thread is such an obvious troll... let's not raise our hackles on a topic this vague and opinion-driven.

  • GameloadingGameloading Member UncommonPosts: 14,182

It is not the PVE players fault MMORPGS of today are all the same. far from it. if they played PVP games, we would get all kinds of pvp clones, its that simple.

I also find it funny how people suddenly call this "trolling". when someone makes a thread "Omigawd, I can't pk and take other people stuff, wtfz!" then its okay, but when someone complains about so called "hardcore" pvp, its suddenly trolling.

I'd say this is a victory for people who want their play experience to be about having fun, not having someone else ruin their day.

It's no more of a troll post than all of these "carebears ruined pvp" posts. Move along!

There are many different ways you can do PvP. DAoC, EVE, Planetside, etc.

There are very few ways you can do Grind NPC -> Level -> Grind Loot, and PvE games tend to lack any real endgame. Hence most western PvE games tend to be reskinned versions of EQ1 with some new terms and a few nifty spell effects. I played EQ1, I dont really want to play it again.

There are also many ways you can PVE, but its full potential is not out yet. you can do SO much with PVE, developers don't do it because its not necisary. people will play the game anyway.

Who cares about carebear games like DAOC and Planetside? Everyone knows real PVP lets you take people's stuff, at least according to the people who go on about the topic the most.

Open PvP with looting isnt for the PvPers so much as its for the people who provide for the market. PvE games almost uniformly have useless, pointless economies. Either beset by inflation in the best of cases, or just pointless (where nothing worth having can be bought), like WoW.

Without some type of item churn, markets stagnate and die, and the only thing worth having is the newest set of boring equipment which has been slightly altered and improved from the last set of boring equipment you had to grind for. Which will of course be invalidated in 6 months because a new set of slightly improved equipment has been created to give you something new to grind for.

right, what the hell do you think they made separated servers for? Except in a very few games, if you got your day ruined by someone else, its because you chose to allow it.

That being said, I hate griefers and gankers, I will go out of my way to slap a character to the ground if I find him taking advantage of low level characters. They give the rest of us a bad name, and in no way deserve the right to call themselves PVPers.

That's why they are called PKers. :)  And that's why I think they should put some sort of system in the MMORPG so that PKers will be attacked on site by guard, etc.

So if they want to go around ganking crying carebears, they can... just as long as they aren't allowed into cities, etc.  Think Ultima Online.

Bravo to the OP.  His post was maliciously tongue-in-cheek.  And at the same time is completely true.  Take a long hard look at yourselves Carebears.  This, abomination is who you are now.  Hang your heads in shame.

Why would I want to do that?

I'm probably what many would call a 'carebear', I enjoy a bit of PvP now and then, if it's on my own terms, that was one of the reasons I quite LineageII, being one-shotted while you're away by someone that thinks that it's funny/elite/whatever isn't fun, also the grind was atrocious.

    Actually you lost the war.

At this point there is no good MMO on the market in the mainstream games.

"because he's 20 lvls above you"

right here is where you lost the argument.

Real MMO's should be skill based making it so even leet d00dz may end up dead due to a well played toon.

All carebears have done is watered down the MMO market into a pool of idealess nonsense that does nothing to bring MMO's forward.

    Congratulations!

For some PvP is fun. For some player looting is fun. For some PvE raiding is fun.

This sounds rather shallow of you Gameloading to be honest.

Fun isn't defined by 'carebears' NOR by 'hardcore PvP'. It's individually defined by what each person wants from a game.

If people fear being involved in PvP and fear being 'ganked',they'll find a game where they can grind and have PvE fun in their own terms. If people want to indulge themselves in full-on PvP,they'll find a suitable game where they can do that. If people want consensual PvP,they'll find that.

We shouldn't really diss 'carebears' or 'hardcore PvP' players if they don't like a certain game or play a certain way. We should stand up if they play a game and want to CHANGE it drastically to suit them, when they can find other games, but otherwise they should be allowed to make their constructive (if they are, that is) inputs about a game.

Archlord isn't going to win any war. Darkfall isn't going to win any war. Nor ToC,WAR,Aion,Chronicles,Age of Conan,POTBS,Fury,Fallen Earth,Huxley,God's Journey,Trickster,Vanguard and any future MMO games. All they'll do is appease certain groups of people; some bigger than others POSSIBLY,but stll catering to a wide variety of groups.

Can't we all just get along (within reason)?

PvP IS about taking a hefty shit over other people's fun, about being competetive, about winning.
These things are incompatible with people who actually play for the RPG aspect, which is cooperative.

This wouldn't be a problem if companies didn't keep trying to make PvPers and PvE players play in the same 'space'.

why can't hardcore pvp stay in a single game?

They seems to need others to roxor and leet kill.

When trammel in UO was invented nothing happened to fellucia .It remained there ,yet the leet ppl moaned.

they could have continued life as it was.But wait if there is no noob to kill,no miner to kill they will not fight themselves will they?

there is no skill in looting a noob or killing a crafter.Want to try skill go play planetside and use your skill.

the problem here is, that PVE players DO play the PVE games, where Hardcore pvp players want to do the same, but they can't, because there are not many games with pvp with full loot, because there are actually very little people intrested in that type of gameplay. gaming companies now create mmorpgs for PVE players because the market is just a lot bigger, and the chance on success is much bigger, which is perfectly reasonable. the pvp players don't have a game now to gank (because that requires pve players)  so now they blame PVE players that there are no PK games. the word "carebear" was not made up by a PVE player.
