WoW, being an okay game mind you, completely destroyed the genre for nearly a decade.
Now we are seeing the move away from it, but most devs still completely mess it up. They just don't get it, and for the life of me I have no idea why.
Lots of 1980s/1990s fad/gimmick technologies have now hit mainstream acceptance.
Motion controller: Wii
Motion sensor: Kinect
Biofeedback devices (fuel bands), personal GPS (Garmins)...all mainstream.
But this one feels different. It feels lik…
Omg I got a key!
I haven't played anything via battle.net in years.
Having to wait 1-3 days for my credit card to process to buy cards is very annoying!
OP is bang on. Although I do believe that inflexibility increases as one gets older, I certainly think that is an affliction that affects only some people.
Additionally, I don't think this is something particularly relevant to men ages 30-45. …

Tenancy laws differ state to state. I had difficulty reading your post but my impression is that you are worried about being sued.
If that is your concern, I would not sweat it. I would not bother even seeking legal advice until you are served. …

1) This game is nothing like FFXI. So comparing it to FFXI in terms of retention models is ridiculous.
2) In fact, FFXIV version 1.0 was much closer to FFXI than this game is. That obviously didn't help, did it?
3) So instead of …

OP nailed it.
I admit that even my cynical side could not fathom such a botched design. MMOs this content-lite and easy fail.
The subscription bleed from this is going to be hilarious: I predict WAR/AoC type attrition in the next 6 months.

Well, technically it is not the F2P that creates cheating.
It is the cash shops attached to the F2P model. If F2P games were completely free very few people would bother cheating.
This has happened quite a few times in my life across different genres.
Of course, do not be discouraged by this. Consider it a positive sign that you can take contrary evidence to your experience and incorporate it into your worldview (whether it…
