LOL you only do it once, it uses a system similar to torrents so it stops and starts while you work on other things. You might prefer a small client or browser mmo but classic AAA mmorpg's like Aion have a ton of content to enjoy.

Give Aion EU a try is free to play now, no pressure to make up your mind. It' really is large and is rich with good grapical PVPVE content, far more complex than Rift.

In general going back to a subcription mmo does not last long, however now that Aion is free-to-play it's one of the modern classics that everyone should have a short-cut on their desktop to play as and when they feel like it.
