I find it really depends on what type of combat your in. Fleet combat currently is a snipefest where range counts but it's basically low dps, so most people can get away. Now small encounters of 10 or less are still great fun as they generally are …

There is but much of it is empire stuff. If you are casual and want to pvp it may be difficult to sustain yourself. If your not really interested in the PVP then there quite a bit you can do: * missions * hunting rats * mining * trading

It is very good, but things like the queues are a very bad idea. Blizzard is making quite a bit of money off this game, they could at least invest in there hardware a bit.
