You might give Jumpgate (the original) a try as a prelude to Jumpgate Evolution. It is somewhat dated, but still has the space flight physics feel that will be carried over to Evolution. I believe Jumpgate has a free trial as well.
In some ways, Fallen Earth reminds me of Age of Conan. Both have a fully voiced tutorial which degrades afterwards. Both have a limited story line (AoC - desitiny quest, FE - Clone death quest).

I am very much looking forward to SWTOR. I am hoping that it delivers where AoC dropped the ball, especially in the voice overs and the crafting areas.
