LOL dude stop trying to argue with Gameloading and Beatnik
Gameloading has been trying to get peopel to play Korean games for the past six games, not to mention that his favourite game "ARCHLORD" bombed. So he's a bit upset and can't stand it that Eve has fans and that his attempts to con people into playing Archlord aren't working very well.
Beatnik, couldn't cut it in eve and has been sobbing on these forums for the past year or so about how they aren't changing the game to suit his particular needs and therefore must suck. He doesn't really even have the IQ to be classified as a proper troll.
And to the whining losers, go vote against eve if you hate it so much.

Actually i agree with what you say here. Differnce is that on the forums the devs actually try and get on with us and even support us at times including on the topic of voting on MMORPG.
Support you? Or support themselves?
Make no mistake, the reason the post and the message got hyped was because it served their interests to hype it. It is about them, and what they want.
I work in academia, and every year, there is an instructor of the year award. I know a couple of my students nominated me. I'm sure the students who nominated me would be very flattered if I said, "you know, it is such a good thing, maybe you should speak to the other students before class to tell them to vote for me too." I bet I could go to each of my classes, and say, "the university is sponsoring nominations for instructor of the year, so let's go show the university how much we like our course, and our instructor."
I bet you that nobody would say I didn't have the right to do any of that. It is not like I would, or even could, say "if you nominate me, you get an A," or say, "those who didn't nominate me would not get an A." In fact, seeing as how this is our life's work, and the instructor of the year award is an honor that one can put on their CV, and can mean better pay, and increased respect, why don't I, or the other instructors, campaign in our classrooms?
Because while there is nothing that says I cannot campaign in my classroom, a good instructor, like a good MMO provider, doesn't need to campaign for honors. The virtue shines through. In fact, by campaigning, one puts undue importance on the honor, and not the virtue that is supposed to be honored. It cheapens the honor, implies that those who are responsibe for honoring are not capable of coming to a wise decision on their own merits, and shows an ambition for honors, and not an ambition to be worthy of honors.
In short, it looks tacky, and very undignified.

Wow, this is simply amazing. you actually think the only reason CCP made a post on the mainsite asking to vote , and made the thread a sticky is to support that poster, Despite the FACT an EVE developer made the exact same thread last year. I knew some EVE fans were biased and naive when it come to their game, but this just beats all.
Actually it is you that is deluded [Hands over a tinfoil hat].
Yes it is fact that a ccp dev posted a topic asking us to vote last year.
And its also a fact that this thread was a year ago. So stop flogging that tired old horse pls.
Fact is this year a dev didnt make a thread for this.
So once agin if you dont like it VOTE.
Oh excuse me, the Dev didn't make a thread about it, all sympathize CCP! they sticky a thread asking to vote for EVE, they made a news post on the main website asking to vote, but the awards are not flawd, becaused look, it wasn't a dev that posted it on the forum this time!

If your going to troll on the forum, then it might be wise to at least get your facts right, so that you don't make yourself look like a fool too much. I haven't been trying to get people to play korean games for the past six months any more then I asked people to play western games. I recommend games to people when I feel they might like the game. to one person I recommend Everquest 2, to another City of Heroes, and to other Lineage 2.
I'm not trying to get anyone into ArchLord any more then I try them to get into other games. In fact, I have suggested Lineage 2, RF Online, City of Heroes EQ2 & WoW to gamers looking for MMO's a LOT more then I suggested ArchLord. I won't ask people to vote for ArchLord, because I think the only vote it deserves right now is for best release of 2006.

Well you obviously superiou brainpower is definatly not showing itself
What? That the current review that is posted on MMORPG.com gives EVE a score of performance/lag a perfect ten in the same month you had blogs that were entitled the following:
"And down we go again."
"Tranquility down."
"Tentative patch deplyment Tuesday, August 22nd, Windows 98/SE/ME no longer Supported."
It doesn't take any serious brainpower to see that, but what it does take is a little honesty, and courage, to tell the truth.
It seems to me that there is a loyalty to this game, and this company, that is bordering on the unhealthy for some people here. There is nothing wrong with loyalty and affection, but when it starts to make excuses and tell lies over and over again to protect the object of the affection, that is when serious abuse can occur.
I may not be the most restrained person here, but I can see a pattern forming in CCP and EVE that was very similar to a certain Star Wars Galaxies I used to play in 2003. There, like here, promised content upgrades were delayed (Kali was promised in 2005, and a year later, it is only beginning to get deployed). Developers would say they were focused on improving things, while spending vast amounts of time and money on anything but what the players wanted (card game? White Wolf? China?). They would nerf, throw in stuff nobody but they really wanted (Vivox?), and say one thing, and do another.
However, all of those things are not bad in themselves. What was worst of all is that we all made excuses for SWG, because we loved it so much. We did not see that while we were making excuses for SWG, they had no problem at all disregarding that loyalty as soon as it suited their interests.
Perhaps if we had made the case a bit more strongly when problems did come up, and warning signs were there, we would have saved a lot of money, and saved others from buying in to a disappointing experience. All I am trying to do is point out that Iceland is no MMO shang-ri-la, and before someone puts too much time, money, and concern into the game, they need to be informed that CCP and EVE are as good and as bad as any other MMO provider, and they should be skeptical at any bold assertions of its greatness.

Originally posted by leipuri lol just as i expected all eve fanbois come here trolling when you show them their way of winning these meaningless awards *gasp* guess what? Means nothing. What these eve fanbois still dont realize is what makes these awards meaningless is them and their constant rallying every fanboi to come here to register and vote.
I will congratz CCP already. Well done you won it and you can add it to your "awards" section on your website and maybe it will trick someone new to mmorpgs to think your game is actually good.
What has been constantly brought to this forum's reader's attention is that there is nothing wrong with fans of eve to tell other fans of eve to vote for their favorite game... It doesnt make the awards meaningless, it just means that there are more people that play eve who love the game than other games... Dont forget that more people submitted votes for wow than eve on this website in the ratings tab of their respective games, so you cant say that there are more eveboi's on mmorpg.com than WOWiots... i just made that up.
Now, on to your second comment, How is it possible to "Trick" someone into thinking the game is actually good? The game *IS* good. Your personal opinion of the game aside, the game's subscriber base is still steadily growing... without any paid expansions. Besides, They are confident in their game by giving a 14 day trial.... if you dont like it - close your account and it doesnt cost you a dime... pretty straigtforward to me.
CCP encourage people to vote because CCP cares about the results here.
Why? Because CCP is aimed at the kind of gamers who frequent this site, what you could call "core MMO gamers" to use the words chosen by Vanguard's developer, Sigil. CCP wants to be highly rated at this site, and they are encouraging people to do so by voting here because they think it will help the game.
Blizzard, SOE. NC Soft and the rest couldn't care less about this site, to be honest. That's the main difference.

I don't doubt they care about the rating here.
I don't doubt that they care about the reward here.
I don't doubt that they think it will help EVE financially.
What I doubt is their faith in the MMORPG membership to make a determination in their favor, based on the merits, as intelligent connoisseurs of the medium.

Yes i quite agree because eve is a Nich game not a mainstrweam one like WoW. Also it is well known by those who follow these things that eve is inovative and doing well and this is acknoledged by devs from other games too.

If that is true, then there is no need for CCP to wage a campaign, because as intelligent connoisseurs of the medium, we will see the merits that you describe without needing to be prompted to do so.

There are 2 ways of looking at the site advertising of this MMORPG reders choice award.
1. It is as you say it is.
2. The devs are actually passionate about what they have created and want it to do well as does the community.
Well you obviously superiou brainpower is definatly not showing itself

No game is perfect and no one claims that EVE is perfect. If you actually read the review, you'll notice that he is talking about actual INGAME lag, server optimization and the fact that the game can take advantage of using fewer polygons due to the fact that space is empty.
"Tentative patch deplyment Tuesday, August 22nd, Windows 98/SE/ME no longer Supported."
This is the natural progression that all software must take in order to stay efficient. Windows 98 is 8 years old for crying out loud. Dont blame EVE, blame microsoft if you have to blame someone. Regardless, this has nothing to do with lag, and is perfectly acceptable from a performance perspective... if not irrelevant.
is a little honesty, and courage, to tell the truth.
It seems to me that there is a loyalty to this game, and this company, that is bordering on the unhealthy for some people here. There is nothing wrong with loyalty and affection, but when it starts to make excuses and tell lies over and over again to protect the object of the affection, that is when serious abuse can occur.
So far, i've found more lies, over exaggerations, and skewed truthes from those opposing eve's dominance in the polls. Your right, there is nothing wrong with having a loyalty for a game. But to say that you find some people's affection for the game unhealthy... I see no proof of that. All iI see is you to undermining people here who have intelligently tried to validate their reasons for liking EVE.
I may not be the most restrained person here, but I can see a pattern forming in CCP and EVE that was very similar to a certain Star Wars Galaxies I used to play in 2003. Thats rediculous to say you see EVE following the same "Pattern" as SWG. I'm not even going to explain myself on that point because its not worth the time it takes to write. I'm not an EVE Player anymore, It took up too much of my time . But I dont believe anyone is making excuses for the game. I see more excuses being made for why eve shouldnt make the awards. The fact that *free* updates are being postponed? Is that really something that unusual in ANY game? Its a fact of life in the gaming world. It doesnt make EVE a bad game and it certainly doesnt put it in the same ranks as SWG's - which has already crashed and burned while eve was and continues to steadily growing in size.
You need to stop basing your argument on hypothetical and unrealistic statements. The truth of the matter is that Many people enjoy Eve, and more people every day download the trial and become engulfed in the game and become a subscribing"eveboi" that votes it as their favorite game. Because the fact is, that EVE IS many people's favorite game... Its just not EVERYONE's favorite game. Its an adult mmo that requires patience, thinking and strategy to fully enjoy the game... Which is not everyone's cup of tea... especially the patience part.

I think that Helios from SWG, the guys at WoW, Brad McQuaid from Sigil, and even the developers at Runescape are all very passionate about their games, and their community wants the games to do well too.
In fact, I don't know of any MMO developer, provider, or community who doesn't want their game, their work, or their community to be rated "the best." However, if this award is to mean anything at all, it can't be on the basis of who wants the award more than the others, but rather, who deserves the award more than the others.
What EVE and CCP did is not going to make their game magically be better than it is, or worse than it is, if the awards truly mean what they claim to mean. The only way their actions, and the actions of the community on their main site can influence the outcome is if they believe that the awards are a sham, based upon deception. Because if they truly felt that the awards represented the best in MMO gaming, then they would want the judges to be impartial, rather than part of their, "supportive community," with ambitions to "do it again...only if you cast your vote now!"

What I gave you was only a taste of the misery that the server lag and performance issues caused. What made those statements telling is that they came from developer blogs, but if I had the time, I could pull up hundreds of horror stories of lag and performance issues during the late summer of this year.
And yet, the reviewer chose to ignore all of the problems to post a review on this site that looks as if it was given to him by Reykjavik in the hopes of getting another non-refundable $20 out of some consumer who was led to believe the game was stable.
Yet, all you have here is a bunch of spin, and hype, with no proof.
The truth is that only one out of every four registered accounts actually pays the box price, according to data posted on this site at fanfest.
The truth is that EVEangelists constantly monitor this site, and post about reviews, post about polls, and about the awards for no other reason than to manipulate the results in the game's favor.
Despite what you say here that it is not "everyone's cup of tea," it does not stop the quest to get everyone's non-refundable $20. And I do emphasize non-refundable. Too many people regret getting into EVE, because every time a criticism came up, one of you EVEangelists would slam the argument, even when true.

Who says you have to play WoW to give a rating to WoW?

I don't doubt they care about the rating here.
I don't doubt that they care about the reward here.
I don't doubt that they think it will help EVE financially.
What I doubt is their faith in the MMORPG membership to make a determination in their favor, based on the merits, as intelligent connoisseurs of the medium.

Yes i quite agree because eve is a Nich game not a mainstrweam one like WoW. Also it is well known by those who follow these things that eve is inovative and doing well and this is acknoledged by devs from other games too.

There are 2 ways of looking at the site advertising of this MMORPG reders choice award.
1. It is as you say it is.
2. The devs are actually passionate about what they have created and want it to do well as does the community.
