WoW devs, L2 Devs, UO Devs, FFXI Devs, EQ2 devs...want me to go on? Because none of those MMORPG's have devs making a sticky about MMORPG.com awards, neither do any of those devs post it on the main site. Talk about beating a dead Horse Just goes to show the support we can get from the eve's devs. And just goes to show the lack of suport from other games it seems.
If the "eve-fanbois" are a spitten image of you sir, then thank you for giving me a reason never to try this game ever. Must have the worst community out of all the mmo's if the fans are anything like you. Not only do you points make little sense but they are bias, untrue and generally idiodic.
if you are letting 1 idiot sway your opinion about an entire game, then you aren't the sharpest tool in the shed. It would be like if i refused to try wow because i heard of the barrens chat (or whatever it is called)
Actually I meant to say ANOTHER reason not to try this game, my other reasons would be your character is a spaceship, skills increasing when you arn't even playing causing plenty of crazed rampant eve fans in the forums and the fact that mmo's today are bland, uninteresting and I am awaiting 2007 in hope. And note in my comment I said "If the "eve-fanbois" are a spitten image of you sir, then thank you for giving me a reason never to try this game ever" I was stating that if every eve fan has the attitude of that guy, what a crappy community it would be, I was making the point of how stupid his posts were in this entire topic.

Well in case your interested we are getting avitars next year at teh earliest.
Also the point i kept on making is still valid if you dont like eve vote against it. And if you like eve vote for it.
I figured it out: EVE is rated high here because the game is so boring they have nothing better to do.
Whats funny is you pretty much nailed it. 99.9% (survey taken from local super market) of the time when you see an EvE player posting here they are also playing the game. Most the time they are surfing the internet while they play. So since most EvE players are surfing the net they run across this voting BS. Most other gamers are to busy enjoying their games to give a shit about this websites awards and the ones that do come here that have tried EvE and think it sucks have mostly gotten tired of the other games out so they choose not to vote either. BADDABING!
P.S. EvE sucks, tried it twice.

Wow, thank you cap'n obvious. I think most people got that far themself. That isn't even the issue here!
What is the issue is the huge swarm of EVE fans that never come to mmorpg.com now come here to vote for EVE in ..ahum, "Mmorpg.com's readers choice" awards. its now eve-online.com's community that picks the awards.

Ofcourse you don't see them, they only come here to vote to get EVE the awards and don't even bother to stay any longer. thats what people have been trying to explain to you.
So there are very roughly 150,000 EVE subscribers, and according to mmorpg.com's site stats, there are 540,000 subscribers to this board. You tinfoil hat-wearers are claiming that approximately 27% (and 100% of EVE accounts) of this site's accounts are EVE players that are here just to vote on the "best" game?
I had no idea EVE was filled with such rabid players or that they were so organized. Or, wait, it's actually just 100 players doing this, right? Each one controls, hmmm, 20 accounts here? No, wait, that would only be 2,000 votes. It's actually 200 players, each controlling 100 accounts here (my, that's a lot of logging in) for 20,000 votes. Well, out of 540,000 members here, that's still not that much--only 3.7% of mmorpg.com's total potential votes. How about 2,000 players, each controlling 200 accounts at mmorpg.com--that would be a whopping 400,000 votes--now we're getting somewhere.
Do you not see the ridiculousness of these claims? No, I'm sure you don't. After all, everything else on the planet is a conspiracy to you as well because you feel powerless and clueless in the world we live in. You have no education and no practical life experience. You are searching for meaning where there is none and you are no better off than a stoneage primitive making up "causes" and "reasons" for the world around.
Apply lemon juice and candle flame here to reveal secret message.
Even if only 1000 EVE fanbois come here to vote, then it already screws up the rating, not to mention not all of those accounts are actually being used.

Exept to vote for the game they like which is what the Award is for after all.
Your just complaining that more people who visit this site actually likes eve than any other game.
However wouldnt it be funny if after al lthis Hype a game like say RFonline won instead wouldnt that be funny, after all there devs ahve done exactly the same according to some and posted a news item or forum topic asking people to vote for them here.
Originally posted by Kremlik FYI: It's not just CCP you know, on the RFO site Codemasters are trying to eurge their players to vote also (i'm pritty sure they're doing the same on the DDO front too), I've seen 'vote for X game' topics in their repective sites elsewhere also... Basically IMO this plot to make EVE win is just an excuse to grief EVE, you can't stop anyone from voting the game they prefer, if you don't want EVE to win then VOTE for your repective games and urge others to vote yourself, quit whining about it thats not going to get you anywhere
There you go M8 i reposted this post to remind you in case you missed it.

I note you never commented on that one before
Do you even bother to read my posts before commenting on them? Because my complaints clearly has been that CCP encourages Non-mmorpg.com community members to vote for mmorpg.com's awards. I didn't know CM also posted this on their website, but my stance remains the same towards CM as towards CCP.
having said that, I don't think CM's post has as much influence as CCP's, looking at the number of subscribers compared to EVE's. But its still something I think should not be done. I say mmorpg.com community should pick the awards. after all, its mmorpg.com's readers awards. Not CCP's/CM's.
I think this thread is so funny. There sure is a lot of Eve envy. Since I have not subscribed to Eve in about a half a year I don't believe I'd be considered an Eve fanboi. I have a hard time playing Eve (and any MMO for that matter) because I can't keep focused on any game for more than a few months. The longest MMO I've played before becoming bored is AC2 (6 months).
Still IMO Eve wins in many categories hands down. It's a complex game..yes..when it comes to strategy. You have to have an analytical mind to enjoy the game. But contrary to popular belief the game isn't that hard to learn. If you follow the tutorial (best I've ever seen for an MMO) you will get the gist and basic controls of the game in a few hours. Add to that the noob channel where people are always willing to help and their home website that has enough info for any serious player and IMO this game stands alone for quality in many ways.
I would agree that players who want instant gratification would not enjoy this game. WoW is a game that provides instant gratification. It's fun from the very start and you feel like you are accomplishing something from the very beginning. It doesn't take a lot of time to analyze how you want your character to develop in WoW (or for most MMO's for that matter). Oh you may have a few skill trees to choose from or you may have a template guide to follow or their is some minor variances. But Eve is totally open ended. You can train skills however you wish. You are never locked in to any skill path and you don't have to untrain skills to start another skill path.
To sum up. Even though I don't play Eve right now, it receives my vote in many of the award categories.

It seems your problem lies in the fact that you belive that to be a member of the mmorpg community you have to post 1000's times here on this site before you are even allowed to vote.
Well let me say this its not up to you how the competition is run. Its up to the owners of mmorpg.com not you. They were the ones who decided that anyone who has registered can vote.
Next you will be joining one of the extreme groups trying to stop certain types from voting full stop.

and here was me, thinking forums were a place to express your opinion. Imo, you don't have to post 1000 posts to be a part of the community, but if your only here to vote for EVE in the awards, then your not part of the mmorpg.com community, simple as that. Again, I think the mmorpg.com awards should be picked by the mmorpg.com community, and not the eve-online.com community.

Anyone who plays MMO's is part of the MMO community, If they sign up to this site just to vote for the awards then they have every right to vote, and their opinion is just as valid as yours and mine. REGARDLESS of which MMO they play or vote for. it's as simple as that. Out of the 540K people signed up here or whatever it is, only a few thousand are really active and the rest are either just here to read the features and news, or to read the reviews when trying to find a new MMO to try. its the same on most MMO official boards, only a fraction of the people who sign up for the game ever post on the boards, its no different here.
I figured it out: EVE is rated high here because the game is so boring they have nothing better to do.

I only post here when I'm at work. I never post while in the game. To be honest there's lots of times where I'm browsing the net in other games, or sure as hell wish I could be (EQ2 crafting anyone, almost as boring as WoW PVE). I generally don't have time to browse the net or post ingame while doing missions, unless of course I'm looking to lose my ship like a noob.
