This game is awesome. The character design, character animations and controls are spot on. The special effects are gorgeous as well as the over art direction. This game is a serious blend of 3person shooter / Ao / Ryzom , and has been excuted very well.
This game is for hard core mmo players, there will be some serious puzzle solving as well as some insane questing. Be prepared for the later levels cause the games is packing the heat, weak gamers need not apply /
Great Job by Richard Garriot for finally listening to the bellows of the peopkle who want something completely different from the current trends. I will be playing T.R. at release !

Sad but true.
From everything I've heard (reviews, beta players), the quests are the same as always...
I.e.: Go kill those Womp Rats and bring me back 10 tails.
Other than that, I'm excited about it. ^_^

He said to me, "On your deathbed, you will receive total consciousness." So I got that going for me, which is nice.
you've heard lies.
Special effects are awesome. Is this the Unreal 2.5 engine ?
6. GVK: What game engine are you using for the game and what are some of the features it allows you to include that are new to the genre?
Starr: We are using our own internal proprietary engine.nvm.
Engine is spectacular.
[Mod Edit]
Place holder text all over the game and there is 10 days until they shut down the beta.
It's a pitiful unfinished single player shoot em up that looks like it was put together by some amateurs and it sure as hell is not worth a subscription.
Too many good games coming out to waste any money on Crapula Crasha.
I really like this games targeting as well, it makes it a little more fun then just standing around, also just saw how many logos I can collect too there is a lot
I'm a;so a complete sucker for special effects and the effects in this game are very well executed. I alot really cool atmospheric qualitites , which help me become completely immersed. Big up Lord British, great game design, great game execution, it is all coming together !
Hope people try this open beta and use high detail setting, this game is awesome !
This has also renewed some faith in NcSoft products. The game engine is stunning.
I've heard from a lot of people that it's a total lunch bag let down. Just not up to the new standards of the community I guess.
Think if this communicty fails to see T.R. concept and game design and how well it was executed, then they aren't part of the community, they are trolls . Regardless if the game is not you cup of tea or whatever, the game is polished and executed very well.
Hopefully this game doesn't geet to mainstream , cause I would love to have a place to play where there are other gamers of my caliber playing, instead of a flood of the most of the above troll posts.
Not that i myself have played this game but i was in ventrilo with 5 friends who were and they were loving it. I wouldn't listen to the nay sayers on these forums but try it yourself on the open beta.
oh oh I'm thinking this is one of those tongue-in-cheek posts where you reverse what the person says! I loved playing that in elementary school!
I'm guessing he's hoping Richard Garriott will sweep him off his feet and marry him if he says a bunch of idiotically positive stuff about the crappy game.
I'll never understand fanboyism.
This is by far the best mmo concept of the year, with only 2 other fresh concepts on the way in future months Conan , and Spellbourne. These are the games that are driving for something a little bit new and different.
Tabula Rasa is a complete renewal in how mmorpg's can be made and how to adapt other genres, creating a very smoothly executed blend of game mechanics. If you fail to see that, then you aren't a gamer.

Great Concept... taking the best parts of MMO and FPS games and mixing them together in a cool sci-fi setting. Unfortunately the execution on the idea was piss-poor. The game fails to deliver the fast, white-knuckle action of a first person shooter, and the MMO aspects just seem to slow the game down and make it feel like a typical level grind.
Combat is clunky, and not at all skill-based. As long as you are aiming in the right general direction, or simply locked on the target, you fire and the result is resolved by a dice roll. Damage is delayed to the point that it's frustrating. I found myself wasting a ton of shots on mobs that were already dead, and just waiting for the damage to update. Half the time the mob just freezes in place after you get it down to 0 HP and you have to run up to it to kill it. This is one of the most annoying features of the combat, and apparently it is intentional. Special attacks are silly and generally worthless, leaving you with just your gun type and your level to decide the outcome of any exchange.
I could go on all day listing this games shortcomings, but they are all over this forum if anyone wants to look them up. I really just wanted to post how much this looks like silly marketing hype... from the two guys out of nowhere with the low post counts.... spewing the standard marketing lines for the game. Hopefully they don't have anyone fooled with it...
-----Zero Punctuation Eve Online Review-----
Are you sure you were playing Tabula Rasa and not some other game that was good? The graphics were OK, but nothing to write home about. I personally think the graphics in City of Heroes/Villans are better. And unless they completely changed something in Charachter creation in the past couple of weeks, you can't really pick anything except your charachters look and occupation, which doesn't really do much. What am I missing here? Oh, and how do you delete the stinking Tabula Rasa installer off your computer? It just keeps coming back!!

Interesting, and you posted all this on the official forums ? I find that the game is based more around the Logos then weapons , and the list of logos to obtain is great.
As far as performance, I have 0 issues with just little video lag caused by my card. Other then that the game plays solid for me and rather surprisingly sharp features on the player characters. Did you notice how well they modeled the characters features like bisceps and cheek structure, Not even Vanguard has that level of detail , I mean they have more polygons on those characters then I have ever seens on any mmo character. There is probably more polygons on one arm of aT.R. character then 10 full characters of WoW.

Call the little lady a Waaaahhhhmbulance.
Too bad if you don't like it.
Crapula Crasha sucks no matter how much you cry.
Hmmmm...I just stopped in to get some buzz about the game after noticing the open beta, but dude you are kind of a turd. If you are seriously 40+ you should re-evaluate.
LOL, fanboy takes the cheap shot because he's got nothing better.
You worry about your little failure of a life, I'll worry about mine.
And the buzz about the game is that it is crap with three or four rabid fans clinging to it as it descends into the toilet.

By the success of WoW, it's not like games have to be enhanced graphically for it to be successful. Compared to WoW yes, the graphics are nothing short of "Amazing" (only in comparison). CoH isn't far off, but the shadow detail is greatly enhanced.
Combat is more skill based then you think, whereas most people look at the skill sets and think they don't have many options, you have a plethora of options from day 1. Health packs and grenades (all different kinds) can be used to slot your secondary powers. Certain enemies can only be killed by certain weapons. This is a somewhat exciting and new concept. The skill bars a remind me of guild wars. You stack weapons dependant on what type of enemies you face, or what type of build you are going for. Close combat IE shotguns, pistols, (which have different variations due to weapon type) all the way up to chain guns, leech guns, rocket launchers, net guns, and so on. Along with different armor styles and emp/cryo/frag, and so on for grenade type. It's all dependant on your play style, and you can customize that from level 1.
Some believe there is no tactical advantage. Again, if you've ever gotten into any of the instances or past level 10 you'd realize that you would be mistaken. Cover DOES actually play a big part in the game. Hiding behind walls, grouping enemies, and using varios weaponry to herd certain types comes in handy. Moving decreases the amount of damage enemies do to you as well as give you a greater missed chance. Crouching increases damage done, but leaves you prone and easier to hit. Leveling skills can either hurt you or help you in the long run. Cloning is quite possibly the greatest, yet cheapest way to play. As long as you clone before every juncture you can have 1 of each type of character without spending the hours to level them all. This is helpful for those who like to try a bit of everything.
As for ichijo, the infamous broken record of this particular thread, I find his comments erroneous on every account. "Blah blah blah turd, Blah Blah Blah Crapula Crasha" is about the extent of his arguments. He probably enjoys bashing it just because he wants to coin the term "Crapula Crasha" in hopes someone will think it clever. The game isn't finished by any means, although some people rather pass judgement before "the fat lady sings" so to speak. I on the other hand enjoy the core mechanics as they are, and find it worth my time to test.
I do have great respect for those who test this game and leave with the simple notion of "this isn't for me" instead of "I hate this game so everyone else should too." Heaven forbid we make up our own minds nowadays.
I highly encourage people to try the game so that more can realize what a piece of garbage it is before they waste any money on it.
The overwhelming opinion in the majority of gamer forums is that Crapula Crasha is not worth anything more than a quick $5.00 playthough with the preorder.
I hope all 150 subscribers have a wonderful time before the game is flushed like Auto Assault.

Your post makes no sense. But I will retort with.....you are living in Oklahoma. Which, by all accounts, means you are a failure and by proxy automatically lose any bitch-fights your start on the internets.
You automatically lose, and not by proxy.
"Alphaville" is a fictional place.
No, I do not live in Oklahoma...
But hey, there's some rice-a-roni for you backstage, thanks for playing !!!

Well, I used to be against abortion. Thanks for changing my mind, pal. Go back to playing World of Warcraft, let the grown ups decide what we should spend OUR money on, not what we should spend our PARENTS' money on.
'Awesome' is right
Awesomely effing bad
it's thin, unfinished, shallow, and just not fun
while the concept is good, the implementation sucks hole
fanbois, however will love it
Agree, after playing this weekend, not even touch any of my other games, but fully test played the game and its starting to grown on me, who ever is saying it's all the same has not played TR, if people complain about the placeholders then we already know they not gamers as gamers play what is playeble and will expirement with other things when the news has arived that those place holders have been replace'd with the actualy thing. To many people especialy on mmorpg.com seem to play the game of things not in these games, Most complaints about the game seems to be coming from either people who are new in mmorpg, or are stuck in the past with mmorpg and seem to be unable to addept. You often see those individuals talking about what is wrong for them in a game, you hardly read any reall constructive post. But its very easy to complain cause thats seems to be the sheep way of many poster. We even have paranoia on these forums from people who might consider those who are positive towards a game to be working for that company. People who hide behind things like that are mostly cowerd and people without a opinion of them selfs.
Usely i'm a crafter in MMORPG's but i have not touched in TB as its not finished yet, but what is there is a very enjoyble and challenging game. Yes it appears to look easy as we can kill the Bane pretty quick, the challenge is in the instances like Pravos facility or the Crater Lake facility , Cave of Donn. But you have to know these to understand to go in them as a low lvl soldier as that will bring the challenge, while most can be done solo its more fun to pick the challenge yourself with a group. To many people continue the solo play making them enter instances at a higher lvl then they actualy should, making those individuals really believe all of the game is easy, while they do not seem to understand that they could challenge themself but instead they choose not to challenge themselfs and become sheeps.
Also keep in mind serten individuals will pretend its a shallow game as most likely its the inpatient type of player saying that, you know the type of player that does not take the time to look at cutscene's, the type of player that takes not time in actualy reading their quest. So for these individuals TR looks rather shallow indeed. Good thing for us gamers who are able to addept, the game is turning out pretty nice. I won't go as far to say AWESOME, but it sure is a very decent to good MMO, yes its lacking serten feature's for now, but like i said there is more then enough to enjoy yourself till more things will be implemented. In this weekend have done allmost everything of wilderness, got all wild.spots. logo's , quest in the area and moving this week into the divided sector. Only have explored the second map but have not done anything at the next map yet. Exploring is also allot of fun cause of the way the maps are handled, hidden passage's makes it worthwhile to explore.
Challenge yourself , don't always expect these games to be a instant challenge if you do not take the time to get to know the game. Every game has its challenge, but its the gamer who can go for it or ignore it. And seeing the comments on TR most seem to not want to challenge themselfs.
And...... the way one jumps into the water, the way spawns works in a more natural way example Xanx spiders who crawl out of the ground instead of just spawning out of thin air like we see in most mmo's, the way weapons work and are handled/holsterd, the way we need to keep a eye on decay, bullits ect, ect , the way you need specivic weapons in specivic situations, the way the story unvolveds, the way we can find cover and dogde attacks. The way healing works. There are so many feature's that simply work in this game that many games could learn from it. But like i said and the poster i reply'd to said, you have to be a GAMER to see it.
