regardless of how many negs a few people here can come up with , this game is well geared more to the type of player i am.
A casual player with not much time in his hands , who belives lotro is to slow just for the fact it takes forever to down a mob and that (WoW sucks due to its "geared for hardcore gamers when you reach level cap" attitude (lvling up was a blast at least)
This game is more pick up and play. Has autoloot where you just pass over the dead mob to loot instead of clicking on it to open the menu and then to collect the loot. Also tons of activities to be done in a short timeframe.
i know that many who post here want player housing, hardcore pvp, female characters who only have a slither of cloth to cover their jewels, 4+ hour dungeons and harsh death penalties. game has none of this and it = fail.
while cor and hard core mmo players wont be attracted to this game, tons of casuals will.
now as for the state of the game. I did beta test wow before i became more casual, wow was also in easymode during beta so we could test the content. still when the game was released 2 classes, warrior and druid were gimped as hell and well to this dame classes are still being rebalanced. Also you only had strat, ubrs and lbrs and scholo as endgame back then so there was not much for the hardcore to do.

i tried this game, man was it a disappointment. didnt even feel like an FPS. The character creation was cool, but who cares when the actual gameplay is so bad. ill continue to play Planetside, much better game imo.
Played TR for couple of days. I had nothing else to play but i gave up playing anyway. This game have nothing interesting in it.
- PvE - nothing new, easy grind
-PvP - aka Hello Kitty online
-Quests - 3 pages of explanation why i should kill that 10 mobs and bring pieces of their hair as a proof dont make quests so different from asian online games.
-Crafting - games many years ago have more interesting and useful.
-character development- with all those 4 final skill which players will be using for months i doubt anyone with a little respect to himself would pay for that.
Overall as UO fan i'm really disappointed. I just expected some player skill involved. Calling that game awesome is serious crime in my eyes.

Just because i might play (and many other casuals) an hour tops a day does not mean i cannot afford it.
keep in mind casual games have a job just like the rest, prob a family to tend, bills to pay ect just like cor and hardcore gamers do. just because we play casually does not mean we do not enjoy games or we have no damn clue about games.
if this game lets me have a burst of fun while im at work during my overnight shift, its worth more than the $15 even if i play 30 min to 1h a day.
for me as a casual gamer, doing a sm instance run = fun for me in WOW than waiting to do an end game instance with 25+ players spending 2 hours to get ready and 5+ more to finish the instance.

I like the game because it is getting closer to what I visualize the future of mmo games to be going. Shooter/3rd person/action/mmo/rpg A game that you can play solo oor pick up a group seamlessly while in game. Though this price module is not something that will be competitive in the market, since a larger portion of game from people like Capcom are moving into the Free To play / item shop catergory. If some how they could offer this as a buy to play it would have a great chance on a loarge install base. I will probably play thing for a while and finally get a marvelous taste of what Richard Garriot can produce, and he stepped outside of his element and created a post apoc sci fi mmo. Seems really strange that no one is giving him any credit on this, the entire premise of game design is completely different , I have not even seen 1 sword in this game.... Really takes a great designer to beable to make games across a multiple spectrums that lay between Fantasy and Sci Fi.
Really don't get what half of the people here want. What ever it is, you will never get it cause it is apparent with a lot posts you have no clue what mmo gaming is about or even what you want out of a game.

I LOOOOVED UO and had such extremely high hopes for this game... but there is nothing new here, nothing ground breaking, and worst... nothing that grabs you and screams PLAY ME!
I will admit the intro was absolutely AMAZING! I was so hyped... but that all kind of petered out rather quickly.
Graphics are nice... but they are no where near the "amazing" you are claiming. I have an Geforce 8800 GTS 640 meg card, ran the game on max... and while pretty, it felt around the same level as EQ 2. Vanguard while buggy was prettier.

TR: awful design, story = nothing, only bashing mobs (always same mobs repoping) , poor crafting, no housing not even vehicles , all char made on BT= stucked (ALL) , quests = bashing "i need some pieces of mobs please take it " go back " i need another pieces of mobs" OK stop it . Stopped the beta because found it really BORING.

I had high hopes for this game but after playing beta I won't be playing when its released. Right now, its just a very poorly designed game. I only got to around level 10 or 12 but that was enough time to know I didn't like it. Some people may enjoy the quasi-fps style but it just reminded me too much of swg and the nge combat system. Pass.

Okay let me put it this way the reason why i responded the way i did is becasue thats the reaction i give when people are nott being constructive, i do not mind if someone thinks another game is better, For one i fully disagree on dungeon runner, i have played it, and honostly when i got in TR the first time i actualy thouth it was a scifii version of dungeon runners, untill geting to know the game TR is, but hey my opinion, so really i did not want to attack you the way it might have come acros, i just want to see people take some responsibilty and explain why they feel some games are better and why they feel TR is crap.

Think if this communicty fails to see T.R. concept and game design and how well it was executed, then they aren't part of the community, they are trolls . Regardless if the game is not you cup of tea or whatever, the game is polished and executed very well.

Agree, after playing this weekend, not even touch any of my other games, but fully test played the game and its starting to grown on me, who ever is saying it's all the same has not played TR, if people complain about the placeholders then we already know they not gamers as gamers play what is playeble and will expirement with other things when the news has arived that those place holders have been replace'd with the actualy thing. To many people especialy on mmorpg.com seem to play the game of things not in these games, Most complaints about the game seems to be coming from either people who are new in mmorpg, or are stuck in the past with mmorpg and seem to be unable to addept. You often see those individuals talking about what is wrong for them in a game, you hardly read any reall constructive post. But its very easy to complain cause thats seems to be the sheep way of many poster. We even have paranoia on these forums from people who might consider those who are positive towards a game to be working for that company. People who hide behind things like that are mostly cowerd and people without a opinion of them selfs.
Usely i'm a crafter in MMORPG's but i have not touched in TB as its not finished yet, but what is there is a very enjoyble and challenging game. Yes it appears to look easy as we can kill the Bane pretty quick, the challenge is in the instances like Pravos facility or the Crater Lake facility , Cave of Donn. But you have to know these to understand to go in them as a low lvl soldier as that will bring the challenge, while most can be done solo its more fun to pick the challenge yourself with a group. To many people continue the solo play making them enter instances at a higher lvl then they actualy should, making those individuals really believe all of the game is easy, while they do not seem to understand that they could challenge themself but instead they choose not to challenge themselfs and become sheeps.
Also keep in mind serten individuals will pretend its a shallow game as most likely its the inpatient type of player saying that, you know the type of player that does not take the time to look at cutscene's, the type of player that takes not time in actualy reading their quest. So for these individuals TR looks rather shallow indeed. Good thing for us gamers who are able to addept, the game is turning out pretty nice. I won't go as far to say AWESOME, but it sure is a very decent to good MMO, yes its lacking serten feature's for now, but like i said there is more then enough to enjoy yourself till more things will be implemented. In this weekend have done allmost everything of wilderness, got all wild.spots. logo's , quest in the area and moving this week into the divided sector. Only have explored the second map but have not done anything at the next map yet. Exploring is also allot of fun cause of the way the maps are handled, hidden passage's makes it worthwhile to explore.
Challenge yourself , don't always expect these games to be a instant challenge if you do not take the time to get to know the game. Every game has its challenge, but its the gamer who can go for it or ignore it. And seeing the comments on TR most seem to not want to challenge themselfs.

You feel the game is bad so that is your truth, i feel the game is decent to good, not great, not awesome, not something i've been waiting for, just a entertaining game. ah lol that's the story, right. I used to read silly side-stories quest givers toss on me. But they got boring after a while. Why? Certainly not because I don't like reading in games.. simply because in this game those stories are used to cover up the stupidity of doing errands. They try to disguise pure grind with shallow and boring little stories. I accepted it in WoW for a year, then It grew boring. Now We need a new way to provide stories. Also I stopped reading quest description because after character wipe i had to re-do all the quests and naturally I didn't wanna read the descriptions again.

ah lol that's the story, right. I used to read silly side-stories quest givers toss on me. But they got boring after a while. Why? Certainly not because I don't like reading in games.. simply because in this game those stories are used to cover up the stupidity of doing errands. They try to disguise pure grind with shallow and boring little stories. I accepted it in WoW for a year, then It grew boring. Now We need a new way to provide stories. Also I stopped reading quest description because after character wipe i had to re-do all the quests and naturally I didn't wanna read the descriptions again. I don't disagree or agree on it, you know it is beta have you send in report explaining how you feel the quest could be different?, have you tried and show me atleast since we are discussing things here in how you would like to see quest work, nope i have not spotted that, you see if you would be that gamer you say you are wouldn't you try and explain to someone who thinks differently then you do in how you would like to see it?Thats the thing i don't like people say they do't like and not come up with something that might improve or show what could be done to quest. You're evidently disgruntled and sick of people's behaviour and I know the feeling, but it won't work with me, I'm an old-time roleplayer and a mindful type of person so You can trust me when I say that this game lacks content.. regardless of how many negs a few people here can come up with , this game is well geared more to the type of player i am.
A casual player with not much time in his hands , who belives lotro is to slow just for the fact it takes forever to down a mob and that (WoW sucks due to its "geared for hardcore gamers when you reach level cap" attitude (lvling up was a blast at least)
This game is more pick up and play. Has autoloot where you just pass over the dead mob to loot instead of clicking on it to open the menu and then to collect the loot. Also tons of activities to be done in a short timeframe.
i know that many who post here want player housing, hardcore pvp, female characters who only have a slither of cloth to cover their jewels, 4+ hour dungeons and harsh death penalties. game has none of this and it = fail.
while cor and hard core mmo players wont be attracted to this game, tons of casuals will.
now as for the state of the game. I did beta test wow before i became more casual, wow was also in easymode during beta so we could test the content. still when the game was released 2 classes, warrior and druid were gimped as hell and well to this dame classes are still being rebalanced. Also you only had strat, ubrs and lbrs and scholo as endgame back then so there was not much for the hardcore to do.
All ic are now is that bugs get fix.

i tried this game, man was it a disappointment. didnt even feel like an FPS. The character creation was cool, but who cares when the actual gameplay is so bad. ill continue to play Planetside, much better game imo.
Played TR for couple of days. I had nothing else to play but i gave up playing anyway. This game have nothing interesting in it.
- PvE - nothing new, easy grind
-PvP - aka Hello Kitty online
-Quests - 3 pages of explanation why i should kill that 10 mobs and bring pieces of their hair as a proof dont make quests so different from asian online games.
-Crafting - games many years ago have more interesting and useful.
-character development- with all those 4 final skill which players will be using for months i doubt anyone with a little respect to himself would pay for that.
Overall as UO fan i'm really disappointed. I just expected some player skill involved. Calling that game awesome is serious crime in my eyes.
Just because i might play (and many other casuals) an hour tops a day does not mean i cannot afford it.
keep in mind casual games have a job just like the rest, prob a family to tend, bills to pay ect just like cor and hardcore gamers do. just because we play casually does not mean we do not enjoy games or we have no damn clue about games.
if this game lets me have a burst of fun while im at work during my overnight shift, its worth more than the $15 even if i play 30 min to 1h a day.
for me as a casual gamer, doing a sm instance run = fun for me in WOW than waiting to do an end game instance with 25+ players spending 2 hours to get ready and 5+ more to finish the instance.

There are other, far better games for casual players than TR. I honestly don't see why someone whose primary concern with an MMO is how casual it is would play TR instead of, say, COH or Dungeon Runners, both of which are several orders of magnitude better than TR.
This is the past dude. They took COH, added cloning, guns, and thats about it.
I LOOOOVED UO and had such extremely high hopes for this game... but there is nothing new here, nothing ground breaking, and worst... nothing that grabs you and screams PLAY ME!
I will admit the intro was absolutely AMAZING! I was so hyped... but that all kind of petered out rather quickly.
Graphics are nice... but they are no where near the "amazing" you are claiming. I have an Geforce 8800 GTS 640 meg card, ran the game on max... and while pretty, it felt around the same level as EQ 2. Vanguard while buggy was prettier.
Im glad your happy bro, Im glad you like the game... but the majority of people who have played the beta, and the press... are giving it two thumbs down.

Okay i'm not a gamer (even if I discovered RPG with Ultima) ,but i can say i have a BRAIN.
I had high hopes for this game but after playing beta I won't be playing when its released. Right now, its just a very poorly designed game. I only got to around level 10 or 12 but that was enough time to know I didn't like it. Some people may enjoy the quasi-fps style but it just reminded me too much of swg and the nge combat system. Pass.

I HAVE BEEN positive in the last years about this game, I WAS positive until I played this game and at times while playing I gave myself hope and I clinged myself on the good aspects of it. Namely, the ethical parable ! I let myself drown into the beauty of having a choice, as i think that's what makes RPG... but that was it.
So I DID try to be positive... but not to the point where it's stubborness and refusal to see the truth, and your motivations for TR's originality is clearly stubbornness... how can you say TR is good for the way the character enters in the water ? C'mon. You say We just like being negative and join the trend and it doesn't help gaming. But being positive no-matter what doesn't help either and it's driven by principle, not honesty.
In other words You can't defend this game only because We do not, You gotta come up with a GOOD point to defend it.
The only ones I see right now is that miracles DO happen sometimes and the next patches could add a lot of content to a game clearly poor at the moment.
We'll just see and meet again a week before launch.. It's gonna be hell unleashed here.
In the meantime I understand You don't like people here who simply join the rabble in bashing the game merry.... so visit the official boards of the beta (given you ARe in beta), in there You'll see people plunging into defending and praising the game head-first, just how We enjoy do the opposite.
