What about the in-game ads, are those awesome?

I've heard that the lack of content is truly astounding!

Tabula Rasa is a complete renewal in how mmorpg's can be made and how to adapt other genres, creating a very smoothly executed blend of game mechanics. If you fail to see that, then you aren't a gamer.

Agree, after playing this weekend, not even touch any of my other games, but fully test played the game and its starting ot grown on me, who ever is saying its all the same has not played TB, if people complain about the placeholders then we already know they not gamers as gamers play what is playeble and will expirement with other things when the news has arived that those place holders have been replace'd with the actualy thing. To many people especialy on mmorpg.com seem to play the game of things not in these games, Most complaint aoub the game seems to be coming from either people who are new in mmorpg, or are stuck in hte past with mmorpg and seem to be unable to addept. You often see those individuals talking about what is wrong for them in a game you hardly read and reall constructive post. But its very easy to complain cause thats seems to be the sheep way of many poster. We even have paranoia on these forums from people who might consider those who are positive towards a game to be working for that company. People who hide behind things like that are mostly cowerd and people without a opinion of them selfs.

Usely i'm a crafter in MMORPG's but i have not touched in TB as its not finished yet, but what is there is a very enjoyble and challenging game. Yes it appears to look easy as we can kill the Bane pretty quick, the challenge is in hte instances like Pravos facility or the Crater Lake facility , Cave of Donn. But you have o know these to understand to go in them at a low lvl soldier as that will bring hte challenge, while it can be done solo its more fun to pick the challenge yourself with a group. To many people continue the solo play making them enter instances at a high lvl then they actualy should, making those individuals really believe all of the game is easy, while they do not seem to understand that they could challenge themself but instead they chooce not to challenge themselfs and become sheeps.

Also keep in mind serten individuals will pretend its a shallow game as most likely its the inpatient type of player saying that, you know the type of player that does not take the time to look at cutscene's the type of player that takes not time in actualy reading their quest. So for these individuals TB looks rather shallow indeed. Good thing for us gamers who are able to addept the game is turning out pretty nice. I won't go as far to say AWESOME, but it sure is a very decent to good MMO, yes its lacking serten feature's for now, but like i said there is more then enough to enjoy yourself till more things will be implemented. In this weekend have done all of wilderness, got all wild.spots. logo's , quest in the area and moving this week into the divided sector. Only have explored the map but have not done anything at the next map yet. Exploring is also allot of fun cause of the way the maps are handled aswell all these hidden passage's makes it worthwhile to explore.

Challenge yourself , don't always expect these games to be instant challenge if you do not take the time to get to know the game. Evey game has its challenge, but its the gamer who can go for it or ignore it. And seeing the comments on TB most seem to not want to challenge themselfs.

And...... the way one jumps into the water, the way spwns works in a more natural way example Xanx spiders who crawl out of hte ground instaed of just spawning out of thin air like almost most mmo's, the way weapons work and are handled, the way we need ot keep a eye on decay, bullits ect, ect , the way you need specivic weapons in specivic situations, the way the story unvolveds, the way we can find cover and dogde attacks. The way healing works. There are so many feature's that simply work in this game that many games could learn from it. But like i said and the poster i reply'd to said, you have to be a GAMER to see it

    /signed

I literally just stared at the models craftmanship and was studying the armors and how everything fit onto the character, and will go as far as to say, I have never seen player models in a mmorpg look that fresh, clean ,sharp and almost action figuresque , It sometimes looks like I can reach into the screen and touch them. All this on a 7300LE, I can't wait to get a 8600GTS

OP, please back up and re-read what your saying. The way your describing Tabula Rasa is the way I would make compliments to a beautiful woman who I'm trying to lay. Seriously, there is a limit to fanboy-ism.

I really do not understand why Tabula Rasa is so good in your eyes. I played the beta, dragged myself to level 16 and then got so damn bored of it that I un-installed it. Ok, the setting is different from most current MMO's (its not exactly revolutionary tho), but the gameplay is EXACTLY the same. The amount of ''kill x amount of y monster'' and ''get x drop from y monster'' quests are just revolting. Instances don't require group play at all (I've literally solo'd everything in that game), and the cover mechanic works POOR. I

have never been in a situation where I NEEDED to take cover or else I would die, even when facing around 10 thrax, or a few stalkers and what not. The game is in my opinion MMOEZMODE and if it appeals to the ''hardcore'' crowd, I wonder what MMO they played to become so ''hardcore'' before it. My little pony online perhaps? This pretty much has the same debt.

Honestly, I badly wanted this game to be good. Really badly wanted it to be good. The way it turned out is just...let's just say history repeats itself (Vangaurd, Auto assault).

You don't talk to many beautiful women often do you?

I'm currently in Beta right now, and there are a lot of times when I have to find cover to keep myself alive.  Regardless, let me ask you, what kind of quests are there if there aren't "Kill x and bring to y" or "talk to A and go find B" or "Kill X amount of monsters"  I mean thats basically every MMO in the business.  "Craft this, Kill this, Bring this, Take this"  It's all the same. Give me some other variations of missions and then we can talk.

This game is/was being marketed on how revolutionary it was and how many epic dilemma quests it's supposed to have. Yet by the time I was level 16 I had 1 epic dilemma quest in which I couldn't even make a choice (apart from accept quest or not).

Also, I do talk to beautiful women a lot. Then again I only need to talk to one, and that's my fiancé. Good day.

Oh jeez.....you got me on that one.....

I don't think you understand the point I was trying to make there friend, what you basically explained here is that this game didn't meet your expectations. I can understand this.  Everyone cooks up their own vision of what something is supposed to be like, thats partially why I took to this game.  I hadn't heard a single thing about this game until I got the Beta invite.  I love the game, I had no preconceived notion.  Looking at it from someone who hasn't watched this game like a hawk or read every article or trolled the forums to find every bit of information, this game is fun.  From a casual gamer (which had once been a hardcore gamer) I think this game is fun.  It has depth for those who want depth, and it can be as shallow as a FPS (only in third person)

If you hadn't uninstalled it I would tell you to try again, I'm at level 16 with my commando and level 18 with my ranger, and have run into many challenges in the divide.

I like the game because it is getting closer to what I visualize the future of mmo games to be going.  Shooter/3rd person/action/mmo/rpg

A game that you can play solo oor pick up a group seamlessly while in game. Though this price module is not something that will be competitive in the market, since a larger portion of game from people like Capcom are moving into the Free To play / item shop catergory. If some how they could offer this as a buy to play it would have a great chance on a loarge install base.

I will probably play thing for a while and finally get a marvelous taste of what Richard Garriot can produce, and he stepped outside of his element and created a post apoc sci fi mmo. Seems really strange that no one is giving him any credit on this, the entire premise of game design is completely different , I have not even seen 1 sword in this game....  Really takes a great designer to beable to make games across a multiple spectrums that lay between Fantasy and Sci Fi.

Really don't get what half of the people here want. What ever it is, you will never get it cause it is apparent with a lot posts you have no clue what mmo gaming is about or even what you want out of a game.

They actually do have swords in this game though.  Check out the spy class.

    OP is obviously viral.

Played Garriott since Ultima 2. Best RPGs ever....

However, this one is just repetitive as far as level 22 at least. Maybe it gets better. I WANTED to like it as a Garriott fanboi, but after maybe 100 hours in beta, my interest faded. Too FPS. I can do that better in Stalker or HL.

It does look (visually) good though.

Then doesn't it bother you that the game fails to deliver the fun and excitement of an FPS, and lacks the depth and feeling of accomplishment of an MMO?

I really did not notice the in-game ads, until I read about them here. As I recall, I have only seen them once last week. It's not like they ruin gameplay or anything. It's quite amusing how they implemented it IMO. Relax, it's all in good fun.

You "heard" about lack of content? I have been in open beta a week, and see no lack of content through tier 3. Have you even tried the game?

Look, I understand "word of mouth" is a powerful tool in deciding what game to play, but make your own decison yourself. I don't know how many times friends/family tell me how good or bad a movie is, and I feel the opposite when I see it. A friend and I went into TR open beta expecting crap, but now we are both sticking to this game.

I guess we all gotta pay the bills somehow though, right?

I agree the fellow is alittle bit excitable but I doubt he's working for NCsoft.  Hell I'd gladly do PR for NCsoft if they wanted me too. Frankly most people who bash games have no leg to stand on other then opinion.  The best part about opinions is everyone has one.  All you really have to do is urge someone to make up their own opinion, and you've got yourself a temporary subscriber.  Personally I like to strike while the iron is hot (or the game is free) to test it out to have a good indication of where it's going.

I like how many people say that the games got something, but it's just not there yet.  They've hit the nail on the head. It's a hybrid.  They want to merge two playstyles into one, without committing to either of them.  I think it has enough elements of both be be immersive in the long run.  I've seen some PVP battles recently and I've got to say they were pretty outrageous.  This game definitely has some good things going for it, and by the end of beta I have a feeling it's just going to be better.  Especially since they extended beta strictly to work on these issues.

Excuse you? IT doesnt fail to bring that to me, i was extremely happy with the gameplay and the camera. FPS? The closest you can get is behind the shoulder cam *resident evil 4 style*, i dont think thats fps. CS and Metal gears gun view is FPS.

It did give me that feeling after 6 hours of gameplay with an awesome party going to cave after cave and mission after mission. Getting better guns, better loot and crafting rockets for my buddies, songs that kicked in the right moment to bring that rush ino the battle and an envrionment that trully makes you feel liek youa re in a warzone.

What kind of MMO ever gaved me that? With dull landspaces and the GOD FORSAKING same old same old environtments with same orcs and the same friking swords. PLEASE.

Haven't seen any in-game adds bro... dunno what you're on about.  You "heard"?  Have you even tried it?  Or are you just bandwagoning because it's cool to bash a new title?

I'm trying it for the first time this week with 0 expectations and 0 preconceptions about it.  So far I have found it very fun and refreshing as far as MMORPG's go.  It's just different enough to not feel 'same old' to me and enough like what's been around before that you aren't completely lost in it.  Not as complex as some games out there but once they fix a few stability issues (yes, already run across a few) and a few performance issues this game has a lot of promise.

I liked the idea that it wasnt another stupid fantasy MMO, and it talked up its "FPS" credentials so in my mind it has some value, thats until I played it in Beta.

I found the game not to be something that I look for in games, but that is not to say others might have the opposite thoughts on TR. One thing I do disagree with is "Lord British" thinking a game based off of AI and PvE is some sort of advancement in MMO's, it's not, it is just the continued decline of online gaming.  MMO's are turning into Real Life in my opinion. Kids cant play "competitive" sports anymore because someone will get their feelings hurt. Guess what? these MMO companies are doing the same; they try to take out any player interaction through competition because they think that is the key to more money.

TR will in the end go down the road of Armored Assualt, good idea, diffrent game, but still a WoW clone AI love fest that cant get subscribes because lets face it; no one can make a AI, PVE love fest like Blizzard.

Hopefully this game doesn't geet to mainstream , cause I would love to have a place to play where there are other gamers of my caliber playing, instead of a flood of the most of the above troll posts.

Why would you say that? It doesn't make any sense. Because people might have an opposing view, they're trolls? Also, "my caliber"?? Gee, Neo or Fat4lity or whoever you are, I hope you're not disappointed.

Anyway, I agree that I hope this game doesn't go too mainstream. If I were entertained by easy games, I'd be outside playing kick the can all day.

Gimme something *worth* paying a recurring monthly fee to play. That's all I ask.

For me the game is exactly what I want to play at this moment. Other people want something else or invisioned a Uo / space game.

Garriots ability to design something completely different is amazing, and very many people are just not recognizing this or even giving him an inch of credit is the ability to no be a pure fantasy producer. .

And for people to run around saying people have the right to voice there opinion that is fine, but when it is broken record and not adding thing objective to a forum thread, it is time fr that poster to move on .

Each armor piece I get I get even more impressed with the construction and over all quality. They really spent a good  bitof time on the players appearance, and it shows.

It is awesome , for me .

Quick side , to the people being negative and having your witty xcomments, guess what, your comments are about as old as this forum, as well as already been said about every mmorpg on this board. Get something fresh or new to say , if you are unable to achieve this maybe you should go change your diaper.
