While I am mad about what Lucas Arts Made SOE do to SWG back in 2005 and 2004, moaning and whining over it and w/e else you're doing is a waste of time.
You kids and adults seem to forget that LEC controls what SoE develops for SW:G. You blame and flame and scream at SOE....but one in a thousand complains that it was Lucas Arts/LEC fault for wanting to attract the Numbers that WoW draws.
I am just soooo tired of you people harping on what SOE did to your game. One would think by reading the threads in the Veteran's Refuge that you people have no life away from the Computer.

logged in few months back on the free trial and games still shat.
if anything out there came close to pre-cu id be playing it unfortunately every game currently out is crap waiting on age of conan and hoping that will eventually be the game to make me forget pre-cu if not then there aion and stargate worlds on the way.
I howver think as long as every game that comes out if fantasy class/level based then ill never truly find that true replacement.

Moderation is only there to prevent overly vulgar flaming. The mods KNOW that people will come here and try to bait you. I would imagine their hope is that such baiting results in discussion like this so that everyone gets a great deal of civil information.

Allowing the folks who accurately point out how horrible SWG still is, and how SOE continues to treat their customers, total freedom of speech would cost MMORPG.com those exclusive previews and interviews. That is the reason the moderation policy is so lopsided. The cost of access isn't money, just integrity. That is the reason outright flames against the vets and obvious trolling against the folks who post in this forum regularly are allowed, while posts that are well reasoned, without flames, insults, or in any way break the stated ToS of this site, are deleted with regularity and the posters are issued bans.
It is why the lonely players of SWG can openly advocate coming here and trolling this forum, while a person who posts a link to those posts not only gets his thread deleted, he is issued a ban. Some in the gaming media are taking a stand for integrity and ethics (EGM just recently), which just makes the ones who don't look that much worse.

As far as i know the stupid "iconic" classes are still in game... right ? we talking about the ugly bug still exist and still isn't fixed.
Thats only top of iceberg from abigger list of bugs introduced by CU/NGE like levels, is an ETA on when levels gets fixed ? There is a bug called current combat too is there an ETA when the turn-based styleof combat replaces the current bug ?
Decay is bugged too, ETA on removing the bug so items decay again ?

Plus, they continue to cavalierly disregard players, and continue to change the game in such a way as each time, it deletes or undermines all prior effort. They have learned nothing from the NGE. They do not understand even slightly what they did wrong; this is shown by the continual repetition of the same error.
Hiya Fisher nice to see you back in the neighbourhood. Often you hear that SOE has learned from the NGE and would never invalidate player progress again. Wasn't it after claims like that when they made everyone lose all their faction ranks and start from scratch? What have they gone and done now?

Agreed. I like the opportunity to respond to some of the frankly misleading things that are posted here by those in support of SOE's NGE. I also don't mind answering questions honestly regarding my experiences and observations.
This whole pro-SOE-NGE spin that vets haven't played the game in 2 years and are commenting in ignorance, is just that--more spin-doctoring that doesn't have the benefit of being based on reality, as usual. Some people played the game yesterday, some last week, some a few months ago, some a year ago. Some played the whole time throught the NGE and just quit recently. Others, like me, played 8 months of NGE here and there over the last 2 year period.
Also, this whole idea that everything's fine now in NGEland also sidesteps the fact that there continue to be a number of serious bugs and issues with the game that have not been addressed, and there continue to be a number of nearly deserted servers. It also avoids the issue that SOE has yet to address the rift between themselves and their former players effectively. They have also not effectively addressed the rift they created between players by dismantling one population's game, reshaping it, and giving it to another target population.
Sometimes I wish that if SOE can't address the bugs, issues, deserted servers, credibility gap with consumers and player in-fighting created by the NGE, they would just let go of StarWars so that someone else can treat it and its fans with some dignity.

There will always be people willing to do what SOE asks them to to get exclusive interviews and previews. Cutting off one site only negatively impact the site cut off, since the folks who are interested in those interviews and previews will move on to the other site. The Vault Network built their sites on trading integrity and ethics for access, until they were bought out by a bigger network (IGN) that have a long history of the same behavior, but to an even higher degree.
When companies are looking for free advertising, they are going to 'reward' the sites that play by their rules and punish the ones who don't. This isn't something that is unique to the gaming industry. The former head of CNN admitted to not reporting on things happening in Iraq under Saddam's regime because they were afraid they would lose access.
Cutting off access costs the folks who lose the access much more than the folks cutting it off.
99% of the People that played SW:G and left because of the CURB or NGE or whatever the reason was can afford to Blow 15 bucks to try this game now for 30 days or until they get bored with it.

And don't forget, after you refuse to eat your b.s. sandwich and like it, they'll treat you like an unwanted refugee. I'd just like to point out that some vets who hate the game can potentially cause people to not try the game, as i have said many times, a few of them relish the chance of a post in the Discussion forums, asking should i try the game; immediately they're in there lieing just as hard as they can. Although this isnt going to have an enormous effect, it does happen often. And if you were to direct yourself over to those forums you'd see the evidence, and they evidence that the brand new players are thoroughly enjoying it.
If the game has brand new players happily playing, then why the outcry about declinging numbers and server merges on your official forum? The game speaks for itself...if it is good, it would attract players and you wouldn't be seeing outcries of poor population numbers, needed server merges and calls to action on other forum sites. 'Those' forums (official $OE forums) delete most negative feedback from new and current players (if they don't out right ban the posters), so what did you expect you would read?
I havent seen any posts about declining numbers, infact, the opposite, many posts i read there express their enjoyment of increasing numbers. Im talking about the MMORPG forums, which for the most part, do not delete negative posts/flames/lies.

There is a lot of cool CONTENT that they are missing out on because they can't take a minute and give it a try. 99% of the People that played SW:G and left because of the CURB or NGE or whatever the reason was can afford to Blow 15 bucks to try this game now for 30 days or until they get bored with it. 2 new Jedi Crystals, New specials and procs, SEA's are back in stackable ways...
I will admit to being an Elder Ranger for Life....but after over 1100 days on my main server I am still having Fun with the game.

if anything out there came close to pre-cu id be playing it unfortunately every game currently out is crap waiting on age of conan and hoping that will eventually be the game to make me forget pre-cu if not then there aion and stargate worlds on the way.
I howver think as long as every game that comes out if fantasy class/level based then ill never truly find that true replacement.

Allowing the folks who accurately point out how horrible SWG still is, and how SOE continues to treat their customers, total freedom of speech would cost MMORPG.com those exclusive previews and interviews. That is the reason the moderation policy is so lopsided. The cost of access isn't money, just integrity. That is the reason outright flames against the vets and obvious trolling against the folks who post in this forum regularly are allowed, while posts that are well reasoned, without flames, insults, or in any way break the stated ToS of this site, are deleted with regularity and the posters are issued bans.
It is why the lonely players of SWG can openly advocate coming here and trolling this forum, while a person who posts a link to those posts not only gets his thread deleted, he is issued a ban. Some in the gaming media are taking a stand for integrity and ethics (EGM just recently), which just makes the ones who don't look that much worse.
As far as i know the stupid "iconic" classes are still in game... right ? we talking about the ugly bug still exist and still isn't fixed.
Thats only top of iceberg from abigger list of bugs introduced by CU/NGE like levels, is an ETA on when levels gets fixed ? There is a bug called current combat too is there an ETA when the turn-based styleof combat replaces the current bug ?
Decay is bugged too, ETA on removing the bug so items decay again ?

Plus, they continue to cavalierly disregard players, and continue to change the game in such a way as each time, it deletes or undermines all prior effort. They have learned nothing from the NGE. They do not understand even slightly what they did wrong; this is shown by the continual repetition of the same error.

Agreed. I like the opportunity to respond to some of the frankly misleading things that are posted here by those in support of SOE's NGE. I also don't mind answering questions honestly regarding my experiences and observations.
This whole pro-SOE-NGE spin that vets haven't played the game in 2 years and are commenting in ignorance, is just that--more spin-doctoring that doesn't have the benefit of being based on reality, as usual. Some people played the game yesterday, some last week, some a few months ago, some a year ago. Some played the whole time throught the NGE and just quit recently. Others, like me, played 8 months of NGE here and there over the last 2 year period.
Also, this whole idea that everything's fine now in NGEland also sidesteps the fact that there continue to be a number of serious bugs and issues with the game that have not been addressed, and there continue to be a number of nearly deserted servers. It also avoids the issue that SOE has yet to address the rift between themselves and their former players effectively. They have also not effectively addressed the rift they created between players by dismantling one population's game, reshaping it, and giving it to another target population.
Sometimes I wish that if SOE can't address the bugs, issues, deserted servers, credibility gap with consumers and player in-fighting created by the NGE, they would just let go of StarWars so that someone else can treat it and its fans with some dignity.

There will always be people willing to do what SOE asks them to to get exclusive interviews and previews. Cutting off one site only negatively impact the site cut off, since the folks who are interested in those interviews and previews will move on to the other site. The Vault Network built their sites on trading integrity and ethics for access, until they were bought out by a bigger network (IGN) that have a long history of the same behavior, but to an even higher degree.When companies are looking for free advertising, they are going to 'reward' the sites that play by their rules and punish the ones who don't. This isn't something that is unique to the gaming industry. The former head of CNN admitted to not reporting on things happening in Iraq under Saddam's regime because they were afraid they would lose access.
Cutting off access costs the folks who lose the access much more than the folks cutting it off.

Thats only top of iceberg from abigger list of bugs introduced by CU/NGE like levels, is an ETA on when levels gets fixed ? There is a bug called current combat too is there an ETA when the turn-based styleof combat replaces the current bug ?
Decay is bugged too, ETA on removing the bug so items decay again ?
There is a bug with wounds, There arn't any ,ETA when this gets fixed ?

Plus, they continue to cavalierly disregard players, and continue to change the game in such a way as each time, it deletes or undermines all prior effort. They have learned nothing from the NGE. They do not understand even slightly what they did wrong; this is shown by the continual repetition of the same error.
Hiya Fisher nice to see you back in the neighbourhood. Often you hear that SOE has learned from the NGE and would never invalidate player progress again. Wasn't it after claims like that when they made everyone lose all their faction ranks and start from scratch? What have they gone and done now?
i am glad to see him back as well and back on our side and not defending $OE.here's the point fanbois we played the game long before any of you did. we really don't care what any of you fanbois have to say about the game. it is our game. not yours our game.
$OE needs to understand this and you need to understand this. do you think this block nerf is just the first thing they will do. it's not they will nerf everything and then by the end of the year do another nge like system. maybe this time ripping EVE or AOC off. and what do you fanbois do you give $OE and LA more money so they can put out more games we didn't want.
so here is what you fanbois need to do. see that we vets are right about the game you need to support us and our war on $OE. you need to leave any $OE game that comes out and go onto other forums and talk about how $OE rips everyone off. you need to send in leters to webcomics that people read. you need to send more letters in to gaming websites. you need to send in emails to news sites and tell them that we are still being robbed.
if you fanbois care about the game it's time you support who really cares about this game. us vets not those greedy men at $OE who just want to make a buck. not the fanbots that come here and post about how the game is fun again. you need to protest and get things going in other games and show the world that $OE is just out to rip everyone off.

To chicken to log in and find i might actually enjoy it? why yes you hit the proverbial nail on the head, you see after i start enjoying it SOELA will see fit to remove the enjoyable parts and replace them with most unenjoyable things,i think that just about sums up the whole matter : once bitten twice shy but in this case twice bitten.... you see im scared to play it again,i dont want to have to go through that pain again of having my whole ingame time,relationships,and investment whiped out by a bunch of arrogant pigs.
That's a good point BushMonkey. Honestly I won't log in there again for exactly the same reason. And don't forget, after you refuse to eat your b.s. sandwich and like it, they'll treat you like an unwanted refugee. Even if you escape with some of your dignity and come to a refuge like this (still thankful for this forum btw ^_^), they'll send people after you to say all kinds of nasty things.
I will never get over it ! NEVER! 3 years playing this to get a freaking jedi. 3 years! I finaly achieve it and they screw up the whole game. I never even got the chance to enjoy my newly aquired jedi. Get over it you say? 3 years of time and money wasted. I have'nt even begun to get over it!
If the game has brand new players happily playing, then why the outcry about declinging numbers and server merges on your official forum? The game speaks for itself...if it is good, it would attract players and you wouldn't be seeing outcries of poor population numbers, needed server merges and calls to action on other forum sites. 'Those' forums (official $OE forums) delete most negative feedback from new and current players (if they don't out right ban the posters), so what did you expect you would read?
I havent seen any posts about declining numbers, infact, the opposite, many posts i read there express their enjoyment of increasing numbers. Im talking about the MMORPG forums, which for the most part, do not delete negative posts/flames/lies.

As for the reason they dont delete anything in this forum... its becuase this section was made for us to discuss soe and its blunder and also to remember days gone by. So whats here has every right to be written here.
I know i havent been able to play swg last couple days, i will at the weekend though. And btw, i was talking about the general discussion forums. Did you see those pictures Obraik posted of the new Heroic? that would answer any questions about using the same art and textures.

Ask us to come back when the Jedi I ground for 2 years to unlock is no longer a starter profession. When there are 35 nuanced, sophisticated professions. When the GUI returns to the simple but multi-variable format it used to have. When traders and entertainers are fixed. When decay is reintroduced. When the economy is not smashed by hyper-inflation. When landscapes are open and explorable, not restrictive linear paths like Kasshyk and Mustaphar. When crafted loot is always better than drops.
