I'm not sure if it's worth preaching on the choir. I doubt that the people are interested in hearing praises or condemns at this point. I'm sure those that wanted to pre-order did so and nothing we say will change their minds.
Some patience is in order. We can have this conversation again after the open beta starts.
Ive spent quite abit of money so far on the game and i guess what im dissapointed about or concerned with is what other reason could Funcom have not releaseing folks from the NDA other then problems they do not want folks not in beta to see. Is this not a resonable concern? I've been asked to link a post to anyone from AOC or Dev's i cannot do that im going on what ive heard form other's in beta that the devs have said to them no open beta and no release from NDA and the testers are on there ass about it.
I'm curious, how did you spend money on the game?
Seriously, I mean...I've pre-ordered the game...and I have not spent money on it yet.
I'm trying to keep an open mind on AoC and ignoring all the bad things from closed beta testers.
On a positive note, I've seen a topic someplace that City of Heroes is a zoned game, and it's not bad. So I downloaded the trial and their right it is zoned, and not bad at all !
But on the flip side, I still have concerns about invisible walls, NDA still up ( remember you can't return MMO's ), and this PvP weekend, as it can be a prop to side track what the real world looks like.
Seeing how zoned games can still be good, I still have some faith in AoC, but I'll still use caution, and hold off untill players get past the 1-20 level solo play.

There's a very 'informative' post just made on the FOH boards.
I believe I found the post you're referring to.
It's disturbing, but it doesn't change anything for me. I made a vow after pre-ordering a certain game ( I won't name names, in fear of hurting somebody's feelings, BRAD). My vow is this: never again will I buy a game without first playing an open beta OR reading a few good reviews.
The devs have another month to finish the game. I wish them the best of luck, because AoC sounds mighty interesting.

Thank you Praxus. It was a good read and nice to see that several different sources are all reporting the same thing, which suggests they might be true. I look forward to seeing the state of the game during open beta, and the pvp weekend.
Waiting for: A skill-based MMO with Freedom and Consequence. Woe to thee, the pierce-ed.
It's too early for them to release the NDA. Games typically do not release from NDA until 1 to 2 weeks before release. This is prevent people from becoming burned out on the game before it even releases. This also protects the developer in case something get's yanked at the last minute.
I think most of the resentment in the forums are due to people being excited about the game and just wanting info early. They are hoping their nay-saying will force the publisher to release information early to 'quiet the masses'. Well, that approach does not work. If the NDA is still up days before release then you can start worrying there are real problems.
I have a friend in beta and the brief glimpses I have seen of it are amazing. All my friend ever says is 'they are still fixing bugs' and that the game is a LOT of fun and very different from the standard MMO. That is all the information I have about the game.
The open PvP weekend can also be a closed zone prop. So don't go by that.
Oh believe me I know. I know its going to be severely limited and it might even just be a bunch of capture the flag games, like the 2v2 stuff they had at the leipzig event. I would imagine that anything that doesn't work well will be disabled so that we can't experience it, which would work for the pvp weekend but probably not for open beta.
We will see though. I have a feeling I'll be spending way more time in the character generator than doing the pvp if its limited. I spent tons of time in CoH and AoC's is even more robust as i understand it.

Mhhh, I'll have to disagree.
While AoC's Character Customization Options are great from what we can see and from everything I've seen in demo's/Videos etc, I don#t think it can compare to the sheer amount of options in CoX. The Character Customization in CoX is awesome in many ways, but of course that is partly due to the limited amount of change that you get later while in AoC, you will get the thousands of Armor sets which will further distinguish your char.
So the Customization itself is, I think not more complex.
Still great though if what I've seen holds true. XD
but what your seeing Singsofdeath is all Funcom aproved stuff !. PvP weekend can still be a prop.
Errr? I'm not sure I follow?
I was not talking about the PvP Weekend. Only about the point of character customization.
Edit: Ahh, wait, I think I got what you mean now. You think the Character Editor is not going to work as they show it and in truth you will have little to no options? Or what did you mean?
Of course there is problems, otherwise they would remove the NDA. And no open beta is an insult to all that bought the game pre-order.
I just started to look into this game but I'm beginning to understand some of the hate directed toward it by people that have never played: Darkfall fanbois seeking to smear AoC out of some sort of misplaced allegiance to their vaporware game.

This is not strictly true even though many people will see it the way that you do.
Yeah, there could be some once in a lifetime game that doesn't lift the NDA and it's awesome when it's released but until then (and even after) I think people are justified being worried about the NDA not being dropped when it's supposedly going to be released... in a month.
Hey, I played AO at release, I know just how bad things could be and seeing as I've not heard anything yet I'll be expecting just that.
These kind of threads are pointless, mainly because human nature likes diversity and not everyone likes the same thing. Taking always into consideration that MMORPG companies are always first and foremost interested in producing profit for themselves and their investors:
Different people have different criteria on what's failure and success.
Some people will always praise a game, even if it's thoroughly considered a failure.
Some people will always bash a game, even if it's thoroughly considered a success.
Most people usually don't care enough for the conflict between the praisers and the bashers to voice their opinion.
Most of the praisers and bashers falsely consider the silent minority as sheep or non-existent.
So why do I bother posting in this thread? I guess I had a morning brain-fart ...

I like that "misplaced allegiance" can I use that one as long as I wait a few post down the line ?
For now I'm keeping an open mind. I expect to buy it unless word is really bad.
