once again, no problem, no harm now foul. I will however decline to comment on whether or not I have taken action, as I make it a rule never comment on legal matters I MAY be involved in. I will however restate that I think any case against SOE has some merit to it. I feel they behaved unethically and deceptively.
Alright I understand what your saying man. You're right your legal matters are personal, you don't have to tell the world about them. You also obviously still enjoy SWG, because you love star wars, but you hate what SOE has done to it. I think that its safe to say that this is over. Do you agree?

I am writing this thread to show the stupidity of many SWG veterans. Which makes all SWG veterans, including myself look like complete lunatics. Please read the entire thread before you post anything.Trolls, I advise you all to stay clear of this thread. I am an SWG veteran, and this thread's intention isn't to try to justify the NGE. The true purpose of this thread is to tell every fellow SWG veteran to finally shut their huge mouths, and find a new fun game to play. Just like I did. Yes I'm a genius I managed to find a game other than SWG. Please feel free to congratulate me (sarcasm). I am very surprised and annoyed by the fact that people are still whining about the NGE and CU. It has been 3 years ladies and gentlemen. Three years!, how can you hold a grudge for so long? This next sentence will sound very sexist, and I apologize. The only people I've seen hold grudges for that long are women. You guys sound like complete fools when you whine about something that occured a few years back. All of you that disagree with me will probably try to counter this argument by saying that you spent time and money on this game. So your telling me that every game that you played and got tired of and quit, was a waste of your time and money. My friends that is exactly what it sounds like. You had fun with SWG right? that's all that matters. Move on to a new game, no game is eternal. The only games that are eternal are vaporware. There are many great games out there. Trust me you'll find one you like. I was one of those that was pissed off at SOE for ruining SWG, but I moved on. Yes SWG was one of my favorite games, but I got sick and tired of whining about something I had no power over. Just stay clear of SWG and play a game you do enjoy. Crying will get you nowhere. It will just make you miserable.
I came out of mmorpg.com retirement to respond to Sun-tzu.
In short, they ruined the game, I can live with that, but they also ripped several hundred thousand people off, and were completely unrepentant while doing so. SOE is a corrupt company that does not care about it's customers. Where I am from we take consumer rights quite seriously.
So, you like the game. Good for you. That does not have a thing to do with why I trash the name of SOE everytime someone has the luck of bringing them up.
Ha, last thread my arse...
Thank you for making my day. I have to congratulate you on that .
Read my post I have stated clearly that both SOE and SWG=crap. I don't like the new SWG at all. I just think that its time for us veterans to move on. If you guys want to keep complaining about SWG go ahead, but please don't go crazy over it.
Actually Thane, I did read your post. I just don't buy that you are making this big of an issue out of a game you no longer care for...so I am assuming you still play religiously. Otherwise, why take issue with others opinion of the game or the company.
And just so you know, 20 Point-Bold text is not going to change my mind...Try 36 Italic next time.
Played (more than a month): SWG, Second Life, Tabula Rasa, Lineage 2, Everquest 2, EvE, MxO, Ryzom.
It takes as long as it takes to get over the NGE. I think we have all moved on at this point, but many of us like to remember the old times or remind ourselves and others the betrayal of SOE to its players.
The SWG vets are providing a service to the mmo community, by holding SOE accountable for its actions and putting other game companies on notice that treating it's player base with antipathy will not be forgotten.
Telling people to move on and get over it just fans the flames. If someone feels they have been wronged or there is an injustice, telling them to get over it more than likely motivates them to continue. I site the length of this thread as evidence of this fact.
Why not have a little compassion for people who have lost a game they love. How many other games have garnered such long lasting feelings, even after SOE has said they will never bring back precu swg.
And lastly, I leave you with an anology. If you fell in love with a woman and regularly promised her the moon, and then a couple years later break it off because you decided you need a change...and you tell her you don't care about her feelings, her response very likely will be to hate you as much as she loved you. Probably same thing with SOE.
The vets were in love with precu swg, despite her flaws, and when SOE changed the game and told the vets the game was for a different kind of player now, they turned the love we had into anger. We were promised so many things, but SOE lied many times and told us to piss off. They were indifferent and dismissive and disrespectful to the players that loved them. So now they reap what they sew.

No, it is YOU who have belittled THEIR emotions and their feelings for a pastime they loved. It is not UP TO YOU what people should feel under certain circumstances. Once again you have fallen into tyranny over the mind of other individuals.
Please, try and learn to accept that human beings, in liberty, are free to make whatever analogies they choose to for the purpose of illustration. There are no perfect analogies, BUT, if the DYNAMIC is similar, even if the intensity, importance and other ANCILLIARY aspects of the analogy are not, the analogy IS FINE, as analogy goes.
To make the foolish claim that an analogy BELITTLES something is quite frankly, nothing less thgan the destruction of all human conversation and yes, is a method of tyranny imposed upon others to once again just SHUT THEM UP.
It is far worse than the drawing of an imperfect analogy.
You do seem to continually fall into this, Thane. It makes me wonder about you.

Wow...seems like you got really sensitive to my analogy there. Maybe I struck a chord eh?
Hehe, analogies and metaphors are terribly disliked in the SWG forum it seems. Makes some of them feel uncomfortable. I would compare the reason behind it to something for a better explanation but alas it would only make them feel awkward again.
One thing I've noticed about SWG is that people had very different experiences. Some of my friends would log in, gun down a few stormtroopers for giggles, then log out. They seemed to experience it like they would a single player video game. Other people happened to be playing it also, but that was as far as it went.
Other friends of mine actually met their husband or wife through the game. Online marriages were eventually followed up by real life marriages.
Still others really put a lot of energy and emotion into building cities, guilds and online communities. Frankly, this was encouraged by a lot of the ads for the game. Stuff like, "make friends, build a city, get married etc." could be found in online and other ads. Many people did just that, and became very emotionally invested.
The thing is, the ending of the mechanics that made the game what is was in the beginning, had very differnet impacts on the different players I've mentioned.
Some of my friends were like, "whatevs, Ima play Matrix online or WoW." Others were really devastated. One event (NGE for example) is not really the same experience for one person as it is for the next. So an analogy might very well represent one person's experience, but not someone else's. I try to keep that in mind when reading analogies. If helps me understand what something was like from the author's point of view, even if my experience was different.

Complementary comment: Those who forget history are doomed to repeat it. What if SOE releases their "The Agency" game and the whole SWG vet community quits protesting SOE. Then say that 6 months after "The Agency" releases Blizzard releases a console MMO that is made for kids. Then, due to the fact that they forgot they can't get away with it, SOE does an NGE style revamp that destroies another game.
This won't happen and is enitirely hypothetical.
SWG is like meeting the hottest chick of all time and then have her give you every STD in the book and then she dresses a monkey up like a baby sues for child support and the judge says yes
