Both me and my gf have cancelled our subs. We did that after a few days. Still log in now and then and can do that for another week or so.

    +

    + Great graphics

+ Best music in any mmo ive played

+ Great overall atmosphere, the various enviromental sounds in Khemi are superb (gedodo gedodo anyone? :D )

+ The armors and weapons are very nicely done, i like the fact that they lack glows and effects

    ---

    -

    -  The spelleffects does not fit in with the rest of the graphics. Very badly done.

    - The overall performance is bad. Unlogical FPS drops.

    - 90% of the area of the great cities are unreachable to you. Khemi is ONE street and a square. Old Tarantia has no soul. There is NOTHING to do in the cities except questgrind.

    - Due to the fact that AoC is so very small Funcom sometimes has to squeeze in 5-10 quests in the same very small area. Like in parts of Noble District (most retarded zone ever btw)

1st quest: Kill 10 mob type A in area B.

2nd quest: Kill 10 mob type B in area B.

3rd quest: Kill 10 mob type C in area B.

4th quest: Kill 10 mob type D in area B.

5th quest: Kill 10 mob type E in area B.

So you go to area B to to 1st Quest. No mobs are there. All are dead. A mob type C spawns. What to do while you wait for mob A? You kill mob C. 10 seconds after you killed mob C another player on quest nr 3 comes. He waits for mob type C. While he waits mob A spawns beside him. He kills it. Etc.

    Totally useless questdesign by Funcom.

    - Half done feat trees even though they copied wow.

    - Basic things like stats not working.

    - Promised buddy keys not released by Funcom.

    - Horribly big mistake by funcom to only have 24 man raids. Everyone knows WoW's 10man concept is the only way to go.

Regardless of how good or bad it might be, I will try this MMO so I can be more informed when I review it later in the year.

I am doing the same Hhussk,  there seems to be alot of rampant "hatage" going on, but I am not really getting a clear picture of the game itself from the people playing  it.

Of course, forum goers are the VOCAL MINORITY...but just the same I like to test the waters by reading whats said...tossing out the extremists views where I detect them...:P

I am waiting on Funcom to free up space and allow the 7 day buddy pass to function, so that I may see for myself whether or not AOC is a game that would suit my game play style.   I've been around on the Net for some years, and don't have a problem with trying and possibly buying.    I know a few of my friends have already subscribed and from the sounds of things they are having fun with it at this point.

The other thing I am watching is the "community"......if the community as a whole...leaves alot to be desired, then I won't be subscribing.........for me community ingame is everything.

    We'll see.  ^^

you know god doesnt like liars because that is so far fetched that i nearly pooped my pants. Vanguard wasnt even playable and yet you claim you played till month was over. HA its funny how people come in here to diss AoC. I see the problem with AoC and its a problem that will be fixed. Not much to do when you get to level 47ish and you have to grind. Which unfortunetly not many people like to do witht he combat system of AoC. This game is defenitly not grind friendly. to much work to get barely anything will make anyone go mad so i understand why you quit but dont say you played vanguard for 30days. thats just retarded. the only way you played this game would of been to have logged in every patch day to see if they fixed somthing and you realized they didnt. and logged back off.

Actually.........I played Vanguard until June of 2007, but then found out that SOE had swallowed up Vanguard and all of Sigil.    Once I knew that, I cancelled......haven't been back.

On a 3 month sub here so I think I finally made the decision on the form of subscription.  I was flipping between 1 month and 3 months.  May get a 6 month sub later but for now minor family upgrading has drawn thoughts of 6 month to a halt.
Was playing on a XP MCE machine but made the switch to a comp with Vista Home Premium. 64 X2 4200+ (same as XP comp) 8800GT 512MB 4 GB DDR2 800Mhz X-Fi Card (Yeah drug into the Vista)
The X1900GT 256MB and the 3GB 400 Mhz DDR weren't cutting it any longer for me.  I guess I eventually wanted more out of the graphics.  Now I can play on high instead of low and see some grass for once.  Yes I know I can't really use the full potential of 4 GB of RAM in 32-bit Vista.
Thoroughly dissapointed in that second to last patch though. (One with the new level up sound introduced 6/09)  I now recieve the gray map issue others have.
If I Zone under those coditions I'll become stuck in loading.  If I camp and try to re-enter under those coditions I'll recieve the out of memory error with an exit to desktop and a form to fill out for Funcom.
Yes I was playing the Vista machine without the map issue before that patch.
Level 40 with the conqueror last session but I've spent more time playing with computers and re-logging than playing.  So I consider it a "form of progress" under those conditions.

Although I tend to avoid the "I quit posts" I'm going to have to amend what I said earlier in the thread.

I'm going to be moving towards the probably not subscribing scenario.  That 6/09 patch has just done me and the family member in.  Since he's not playing I'm likely not to either.

Since this is a thread asking about subscription status I'd thought I'd update that so the OP can have accuracy from me.

I've only been playing 3-4 days and so far I've enjoyed everything except:

    1. Instanced to death.
    2. Everyone can stealth.
    3. Same stupid start for every class.
    4. Guild City built and yet not actually 'activated' in game yet, lame.
    5. Bugs galore.
    6. High specs I guess are an issue for some people lucky I'm not one of them I guess.

It does feel as if I'm using my free 30 day sub to beta test the game although I do enjoy it. I think people should try it rather than be put off by people on these forums as it isn't as bad as most make it out to be.

You have only played for 4 days mate, come back and judge it again once you hit level 50 or so and all the broken stuff has been biting your ankles for awhile.

Yep. The game begins at 40. I ran into very small problems before reaching level 40, but after 40, the amount of broken features is massive.

Honestly, if the trial version will only allow players to play Tortage, it's a bait and switch scenario. It would be unwise for FC to activate trials keys before they spend some quality time debugging. Chargebacks will be rampant otherwise.

Playing at moment, will resub and having a blast. great that at last us casuals have a game to get stuck into :) and good to see regular fixes /additions :)

  • DrukstylzDrukstylz Member Posts: 189

I have the game, so if in the future they improve game play I will probably re-subscribe.

points for improving game play in my book

    1. Reduce instances

    2. Less linear

    3. Put promised content ingame

    4. Kill all fanbois

  • shukes33shukes33 Member Posts: 1,051

They wont reduce instances but maybe they will increase the number allowed into each instance :)

Not sure what your asking for when you say less linear? this is a game remember friend :)

Agree they need to add promised content that isnt in yet.

A retention rate of 35% should give AoC 200K to 300K players over the first 3 months, then depends on delivering new content. I would consider that a moderate success.

I just cancelled before my free month was up (bought it on launch day, so June 20).

The game starts off fun but it's just so damn incomplete and unpolished.  I may give it a try again in a few months.  At this point though I'm completely disappointed with it and will probably end up waiting for another game, maybe Aion.

Picked it up launch day...played for the first two weeks.  Canceled yesterday before the free month is up.  The game blows.  Warhammer here I come!

its still strange there isnt laws against this kind of outright lieing and deceit
blabla EULA, i dont care... the game is nowhere near what it says on the box, and it probably never will be
also, the game is looking and feeling more and more like console game the more i play it.. cancelled indefinitely

Not sure if you really in time but you can return it. I did not as I thought I got my monies worth. Just cause a stores policy says they wont take software back does not negate your consumer rights. Simply say that the box says its a DX10 game and it is not. An EULA can not negate your consumer rights either.

0-30 very good indeed (perhaps not great) 30-60 OK 60+ dire (actually its more a question of beeing non existant). Enjoy the ride though, I did.

Im on first month. Liked the game so far, graphics are stunning, character customization is great, thats a new lvl for MMO's indeed, finally.  Even if its still bugged and incomplete the idea is great it has a lot of potential for sure.

Combat is fun and not too slow and boring like most fantasy MMO's, the new system that i was so concerned about ir not bad at all, i liked it as well.

I still have a lot to play and discover but so far im very pleased.

    Cancelled this weekend.

Sorry Hyboria, I tried to love thee... but alas it wasn't to be. :(

I'm currently having a lot of fun playing the game. I know there are lots of problems and some of them are very annoying, but I am giving the game a chance to mature a little bit before I decide to stay or leave for good.

As for the moment, I am having a great time. There is definitely a lack of content around my level (56), but I hear they will be adding a new area in the next couple of weeks.

  • stucoolstucool Member Posts: 134

I only have one requirement in a MMO. Fun. If I am having fun, I play. If I'm not, I move on. I try not to put any games down because I don't like them. I have played WoW, and i understand why it is so popular. Anyone with even a 5 year old computer can run it. And to many it is fun. I like most MMo's, some more than others. When Auto Assault came out, I really enjoyed it because it was different, but others saw it as a single player driving game. I did have fun playing it, but not enough people did, so It was shut down. My point is, with all of its flaws, AoC is fun to me, and I have the same issues that most have with the game. Crashes, bugs, etc. But when I crash, I go get a soda or a brew, try to log in again, and continue. If I cant play, I wait until I can and dont let it ruin my day. So, I will continue to play the game until it is no longer fun. That may be next week, or 6 months from now.

Well I have the game, I went to register but they do not accept Discover and its the only card I have.

So I guess its back to the store or sign up for a Amex.
