Monthly sub on continuous update. Just nothing else out there as good at the min. AoC is by no means great but only other game that i can get into is eq! and after 7 years i need a break .
Interesting results so far. Considering forum dwellers - and especially these forums - are the most opinionated (and then generally outspoken hostile) lot for any game, the poll is actually rather positive.
I wonder how many people who voted that they would resub have changed their minds since then. With so many better options out there, who the heck would pay $15 a month for this crap?
Now, I can see someone who only made it to level 30 in their first month might think that this game is still hot shit... but you would have to play very little to only make it to level 30 in 1 month. Anyone who has gotten to level 60+ would know this game sucks balls for a MMO that has a subscription fee.
I've been gone for a week, but one aspect that I'm interested in this thread is if anyone changed their status after voting. Has anyone thought they would stay, voted they would continue their subscription, and then ended up cancelling? Why? Has anyone thought they would leave, never subscribed, or thought they would never subscribe...but for some reason are now playing? Why? I'm really interested in what changed you over from your last opinion...
Wow! First stock market analysis and now accurate polling data. Are you serious?
This is like standing outside the courthouse entrance line and asking people if they are happy with the governemnt.
SKEWED DATA FTW!
Skewed voting population aside, the last two options create a push-poll and distort the data by ~%30
When Vanguard came out I have actually played it till my free month was over, AoC I have canceled (and never logged back in) after 3 weeks.
you know god doesnt like liars because that is so far fetched that i nearly pooped my pants. Vanguard wasnt even playable and yet you claim you played till month was over. HA its funny how people come in here to diss AoC. I see the problem with AoC and its a problem that will be fixed. Not much to do when you get to level 47ish and you have to grind. Which unfortunetly not many people like to do witht he combat system of AoC. This game is defenitly not grind friendly. to much work to get barely anything will make anyone go mad so i understand why you quit but dont say you played vanguard for 30days. thats just retarded. the only way you played this game would of been to have logged in every patch day to see if they fixed somthing and you realized they didnt. and logged back off.
An entity that only exists in your imagination can't have an opinion on peoples actions. It's about time irrational deluded people like you realized this.

It would be interesting to know what the so many better options are ?????

When you buy a subscription beyond the initial month, there is the understanding that there is enough content, longevity and value in the game to warrant such a subscription and your investment of time. I do not see that content and value with AoC. With that in mind here are few games that I think offer much more value, can be a long term hobby, and are worth a subscription...
LOTRO
Vanguard
EQ2
WoW
Eve
Lineage 2 (kind of a stretch there, but the L2 grind is way more interesting than the AoC grind... much more content to make the grind more interesting.)
Guildwars has more content and its free
Even alot of the F2P asian grindfests have more content to grind... They aren't gonna make you grind the same small villa 10,000 times.
I could go on... all of these games have actual working gameplay systems too... like working stats, skills, spells, feats, crafting etc...
Anyway, that's my advice for you. If you are gonna pay money for a game. Pay for one that is worth it. AoC is fun for a couple weeks, but there just isn't much of a replayability factor.
If you can keep this game interesting for more than 1 month, kudos to you.
More than 2 months? you must play very little or never played another MMORPG and think that grinding the same crap over and over is amazing content...
With almost 1000 entries I'd say this poll is pretty good. The only issue being that it will be artifically high because there is no time played metric. I'd suggest that AoC is good early and gets worse later so if people do the survey in the first 2 weeks or so they will love the game if they do it after say 4 weeks or more significantly after lvl 50 they will be far more likely to hate the game...
I spent one week getting it to work and then played about 2,5 weeks before I got tired. I reached level 36 with my assassin and had a few other "younger" toons, mostly to see how the boobies look like.
All in all I thought the game got increasingly stale the higher level you got. I think the most single annoying thing with the game is the lack of support. Yes, writing a email or several to support and never getting a reply is by far the worst. Bugs are a fact of mmorpg but buying the game and not being able to play it directly and not getting help, now that sucked.
I have maxed characters, helped to organize and build a tier 3 city, have run raids, etc. I've seen just about all there is to do in this game. I have canceled and uninstalled the game. I do not miss it. MMO play is very subjective, and I realize that. I'm not trying to devalue anyone else's positive feelings about the game. For me, getting tired of a game so quickly has no precedent. I have been gaming since I picked up a Pong console as a Christmas present. I am not new or inexperienced with the industry. My feeling is that this game needed another full year of heavy development and polishing before it was released.
If you are interested in playing it, and have not yet done so, give it at least 6-10 months before you do. Hopefully waiting that extra period of time will enable you to get a better experience than some of us have. Right now, the game is very much like a beta. Look at the Funcom videos. They say things like "We really appreciate the players helping us troubleshoot and fix things"...
I play games hoping that they are good, not potentially good.
Age of Conan isn't awful but it isn't great. Its combat is satisfying at times but a lot of the mechanisms and gameplay aspects are broken, boring, or half-realized. In its current state it has extremely low replay value. That is, unless you are the type who enjoys doing the same things over and over again.
As for the X-fire statistics, of course there are many variables. But one can look at it and think, "Hmm my server is absolutely dead, every guild I know has 1/10th the people they did 2 weeks ago, the X-fire graph has bottomed out" and evaluate accordingly. People aren't on vacation, they are sick of the game. The trend continues...
Good luck Funcom, I hope your product is much better in a year from now. I had a few days of fun in your game. Sort of.

No support what so ever. Only automated email replys. If you made a petition ingame, then good luck waiting 18 hours for any GM to answer it. If you logged out for more than 4 hours, or you didnt refresh your petition, then your petition was deleted. If you went to bed, then your petition was deleted. Sometimes the petition was randomly deleted for no reason. Need I say GM cyber sex? That is if your lucky enough to get your petition answered.
I was beta testing the game, and knew the game focus had to turn in another direction if it was going to survive. However as I already said, I got no reply's with feedback on the issue list I posted.
What boggels my mind is how any company would not listen well. There are some really intelligent people, who have some very valuable information about what MMO players like and dislike, and how the game should feel and develop. However, instead of listening to the best place for information, they just randomly pick out some stuff and mix it into a huge soup. Instead of ignoring contructive posts about bugs, exploits, changes in engine, rules, needed implementations, they should appreciate the help they get from the few that knows what their talking about. I have not recieved any thank you mail yet, and I didnt actually believe I would get anyway. However, I saw no changes made that I pointed out. This drove me mad, and I never bothered to try "help" out with bug/exploit reporting etc. How is that for communication? Well deserved!

Had to use petition once while I was playing , However it only took about 8-10 minutes to get a reply , Only a few minutes longer to get the problem totally resolved.

Played it during holiday. Made it to around level 40 then stopped playing.
Always intended to go back and get more into the crafting, buy a mount, etc.
Could not stomache playing for more than 5 minutes after logging on again, so I cancelled. (to late of course, my next 3 months subscription was just payed).
So for the next 3 months I'm one of the many people who is still counted as an active AoC player who never loggs on.

I have a 3 monthly sub, since i dont want to go back to WoW, bored out of my skull with it.
And to be honest there is nothing much more out there, EQ2, VG, LOTROL, none of these float my boat as AoC does .

Currently playing and will resubscribe.
The game has potential , yes it is unfinished but i can wait , i played cartoons (wow) for too long .
And no i don't use xfire like many other players .

Betaed the game, didn't care for the design decisions they made ie zones, instances, no death penalty and closed in feeling of linear paths.
Purely personal preference and I wish them all the best.
oh..........oooo!!!!.....ooo!!!!...a poll!!, a poll!!
can you smell that?!!...............there is nothing quite like it.....................the smell of troll in the morning............i love that smell.
