I did a little research ... Jestor's first post (that's still on this forum) where he at least hinted that he believed SWG would be shut down by the end of the calendar year came in July of 2005.

He's had an axe to grind ever since he got banned from the game for conduct on the forums -- and when you consider how bad you have to be just to get forum banned, I can't imagine what he must have done to get his game account banned.

I don't even really think Jestor hates SWG all that much, he just has a vendetta against SOE.

He tells us that in every post. Not sure why you had to research it unless you havent read more than 2 of his posts before. He plainly says he has a vendetta agaisnt swg and soe because of the banning he recieved. He doesnt hide it at all..All you did was repeat his message for him. Love that Jester!!

Nah, just felt like going back in time to find his first "imminent shutdown" post. The fact that it was three years ago is rather funny, and the fact that it's all over a banning that (given his tone and demeanor) he undoubtedly had coming is even better.

That said, I, for one, do NOT "love that Jestor."

Do you expect SOE to live up to the same standards? You think hes lying or misrepresenting information because of some vendetta..so you feel the need to speak up. But when SOE does it (lies and misrepresents) because of money..its fine and the people who do to SOE exactly what youre doing with jester and others here are pathetic?

You need to go into the way-back machine and find where I've ever actually justified SOE using misinformation. Please, go ahead, I'll wait.

Didnt say you justified it. Was just asking if you held them to the same standards and spoke up when they did. It was a question. Do you think the new article in massive mag misrepresents the history of swg in a way that makes SOE "look" better? Again, thats a question.

Haven't read it. I'll edit after I do.

EDIT: OK, I read it. Horribly written, terribly incomplete and/or inaccurate, and appears to have been written verbatim off of old press releases. Says nothing about the release of the expansion shortly before NGE, or the village, and the whole "Corellian Captives (ch. 1) being the first questline since launch" is an outright fallacy -- it wasn't even the first questline since NGE.

    What's your point?

No point. Was just curious if you held the same standards for SOE pr and gaming media as you do someone whos openly mocking them.

I find most gaming media to be pretty bad -- they are beholden to the gaming companies that sponsor them. The piece you cited was just utter garbage though. I don't know if the guy is necessarily an SOE mouthpiece, though. Read some of his other stuff. It appears his top qualification is being able to paraphrase a press release.

So I started to walk into the water. I won't lie to you boys...I was terrified. But I pressed on, and as I made my way past the breakers, a strange calm came over me. I don't know if it was divine intervention or the kinship of all living things, but I tell you, Jerry, at that moment ... I was a marine biologist.

Thats it man the jester frikkin lost his mind for good. I wonder what would have happened if the guy played earth and beyond and then ea-games bought the gamew, and the company, shut down the game and moved the devs to the sims, I think he would have gone into ea headquarters shooting people or something, get the hell over it already, it truly saddens me that all this obseviveness is being wasted on something as silly as a game, go do something for your community or yourself instead of wasting all your time and brainpower on silly reports and endless posts about SOE and swg.

I did take 5 minutes and actually watched the "Rodo Report." I wish I had those 5 minutes back. I really do.

Kind of like how I want the time back that I suffered through the NGE hoping it would become playable.

    Pre-E3 2008: Sony Online Entertainment's Roster

    We've got the list, yo!

    by Greg Miller

showUSloc=(checkLocale('uk')||checkLocale('au'));document.writeln(showUSloc ? 'US, ' : ''); June 25, 2008 - Just when you though you had heard everything that E3 had to offer, Sony Online Entertainment has arrived to kick you in the crotch and rock your brain with games. That's right, fresh from SOE is the list of titles the company will be bringing to LA in just a few weeks. Check it out!

    The Agency (PC, PS3)

    Free Realms (PC, PS3)

    EverQuest II (PC)

    EverQuest (PC)

    Legends of Norrath: Oathbreaker (PC)

    Vanguard: Saga of Heroes (PC)

To be held at the Los Angeles Convention Center after a one-year stint in Santa Monica, E3 2008 will kick off on July 14 and carry on through the 17th. For a more comprehensive list of games confirmed to appear at E3, visit our constantly evolving Big E3 List  ENDQUOTE
SWG is not in the plans for next year with SOE.  As I have predicted.

Well 2 of those games are new IPs and thats why they are being shown at E3. EQ 1 and 2 has an expansion coming oout in fall and that why they on the list. legends of Norrath oathbreaker in the new expansion for the card based game and thats why its on the list. The only game I don't get is Vangaurd unless it has an exonasion coming soon too?

SWG player base fell fast and then it is now slowly falling away more. They most likely pulling people off SWG if there is even many dvs left and putting their resourcers into other games. SWG is basically on life support but SOE likes keeping all their games going so it probally won't go completely away.

  • funnylumpyfunnylumpy Member Posts: 212

I'm afraid that SWG will live longer than some people hope... for me I couldn't care less since I haven't played SWG for a while.

E3 is not open for public anymore it used to be but they changed it so it's only special invited press people who is amitted to it and E3 has been very much scaled down compared to what it used to be.

As for SOE not having SWG on the list or Potbs for that matter doesn't tell me it will be shut down anytime soon.

Usally you present the games with new stuff comming up...

It was Lucas Arts decision not SOE's. Since LEC controls all aspecs of the game and they will not be there, SWG can't be there.
[Lots of irrelevant crap deleted for readability]

The link you'd have us read actually says that LucasArts will be at E3.  You seem to claim it says the opposite.

O.k. I just saw where you clarify that the E3 expo and trade show are 2 different things.  I'm with ya, my apologies for thinking there was only one E3 event in question.

Actually, he's still wrong.  This link www.e3summit08.com/login/login.aspx specifically refers to the keynote address 16 July at the E3 Summit.  In the fourth paragraph, LucasArts is listed as a confirmed attendee.

I haven't seen or heard any evidence that Jestor is violent.  In fact, he uses free speech and theatricality to address what he perceives to be an injustice it would seem.  Certainly better options in my view.  Accusing him of being a homicidal maniac is way over the top; and you say that he exaggerates.  Can you see the hypocricy?

I find his reports quite entertaining lol, maybe cuz I was a fan of the batman show that was aired in the 60's -_^.  He does a pretty good joker.

Anyways, why do you try to tell people how they should feel and what they should get over and when?  Try that in any significant relationship and let me know how it works out for you.

As for LucasArts pulling out of the gaming association, there may well be a lot of significance to that move, and it may impact SWG.  Speculation surely, but within the realm of reasonable.

I think JestorRodo would turn SOE back to profitability and quality if he were named SOE president in place of Smed.

OK, you're talking about a guy who got banned from a game for his conduct on that game's forums (and you gotta be pretty bad on the forums to get that), and now dresses up like the Joker, films his rants against said game company, and puts them on the internet.

You want to trust him with your money, go right ahead.

At least he didn't swap my game away for trash that sucks.  That makes him a whole lot better in my eyes than Smed.

By the way Jestor, if Nancy MacIntyre wanted you to bone her for a million dollars, would you do it?  If so, what would you do with the money?

So if Jestor is such a bad guy, why does SOE lift his ban in 2006 and want him back so bad today?

Perhaps it's because NGE sucks and SOE is dying for people to play that thing?

Because he has an axe to grind that goes far beyond the CU, the NGE or any other changes to the actual game, that's why. Yet he seems to fancy himself as some sort of savior.

I give Jestor much credit for marching to his own drum, it might be a bit cheesy imo but he is voicing what a lot of veterans feel.  Thus here we are at the "Veteran"  forum for folks that could give a crap about SOE or Shmeg, enjoying any little tidbit of information that hints at the demise of a disreputable company and you come in here trying to rain on the parade.  Now shoo on back to rainbow pony land, it's the forum above this.

I'll post where I want to post, thanks. If I violate the forum rules, please feel free to report me.

If you could "give a crap about SOE," you wouldn't be hanging onto his every word when he throws out  YET ANOTHER "SWG's imminent shutdown" carrot for you guys. You know, the ones he's been chucking out there for two years.
