Let's just hope this game pops out eventually. I have to admit though, this is the first mmorpg I WONT be preordering, no matter how good it sounds. So much rumours around it.
Anyways, +1 to Darkfall and Tasos. Let's see if you can deliver.

There will likely not be a pre order. Most pre orders are just scrams to wring more money out of the community. Tasos came out about a year ago and said there will be no special offers or exclusive items, or private play time forcing you into getting a pre order. And GOOD.

He was so unprofessional in this interview, Id like to know how he got this job in the first place. He comes off as snippish, arrogant, and just plain rude. Ive seen front desk clerks in motel 6s come across with more professionalism than this guy can muster.
Frankly I dont think hes cut out for the job, he, like Aventurine has no prior experience, and frankly his attitude isnt helping Darkfall one bit.Seriously I can point you in the direction of some good training vidoes for dealing with the public Tasos, you obviously need help.
I applaud MMORPG.COM for finally busting this guys chops like they should have been years ago. Not only did you get them out there, but you exposed the guy for the unprofessional hack that he really is.
A step in the right direction for Darkfall would be to fire this inexperienced jackanape and get someone in there who can handle tough questions without coming off like a petulant child.

But the "petulant child" you describe him as is exactly the mentality of his blind faith followers.  These immature piss-ants are mostly likely the kind of people who will be playing his game (if it even is playable, yet to be determined).

So he's just basically catering to the lowest common denominator... His fans.

wow im hurt im actully a very nice person and the people i talk to from the forums are pretty cool to granted some are asses >.>

meh most of forumfall thought that it was cool he answerd the way msot people would. just tells me he snot going to crumble under the crying about open pvp and stuf and change the game.

but the good thing is hes not costimer support hes just  a guy that gives us updates. if oyu dont like it all well . if the game is good i bet most people dont care what he says as long as it isnt out right lieing

he just answerd honestly and honestly he always been this way i dont really care as long as the game is good and actully works

A professional would have dealt with the questions without sounding like his ego was hurt. Its not hard to talk about people skeptical of the game without being insulting.

When Mark Jacobs goes on a rant about how he wants to MURDER gold farmers. Nothing is said.

But after years and years of people denouncing his game just because they were too lazy to do a little research on it, and things were done a little differently, Tasos comes across a little short in his responses, and suddenly he deserves to be fired. Fantastic. I love you trolls. Well, you can't denounce the game's existence anymore, nor the beta, nor release.... so you're reduced to insulting the devs. And some of you are STILL convinced you're on the "right" side by insulting a small indie company trying to pump some life into a dead genre.

You should read the interview before you comment on it.  He was slightly defensive when asked two questions that were clearly biased.  Go accuse the CEO of any major corporation of deceiving the public and see how they respond.  Better yet, turn on CSPN and watch these three guys from The Big Three talk to Congress.

You should also probably quit frequenting Motel 6's if you're going to be conducting training courses on how presidents should do media relations.

Anyone who has ever dont PR, or even customer service would grimace at his attitude. Frankly I dont see many people in CEO positions stooping to slang terminology in response to criticism.

A consumate professional would have addressed the questions without coming off like hes miffed.

The man has no previous experience doing this job, and it shows.

P.S. He shouldnt have been "slightly defensive" he shouldnt have been defensive at all, its not hard to dismiss criticism, or explain the problem in question logically, and without anger.

I can see it now .. Oh but we have a few hundred testers, lets all gather up and try a large scale battle to test _LAG_, Ok perfect looks like we are good. Oh wait geeez, what about the other thousand players on the same server concurrently running around guess we still got lots of _LAG_

I also like how he avoided the release date, and continues to do so. Release date in a few days; in the great words of Ace Ventura ... Hmmm Yeah ... Bumble Bee Tuna!

I can see how. The game might be fun. Why does it matter when it is released? If it is fun, it is worthy of community support.

You say the above as if they owe you something. They have taken zero money from you. You have given nothing to them. I don't see where they 'owe' us a damn thing in regards to their launch.

If they don't get a launch date this year or even early next year, you act as if the greatest mmo lie will have been imposed upon the masses. This is ludicrous. Just because they were wrong about their release, doesn't mean they 'lied' and doesn't mean that you have somehow been swindled. Swindled out of what? You've given them no money, no labor. They don't owe you a damn thing, other than a fun game on release - they certainly don't owe you anything until you are actually  paying for a service.

Geez, your tone sounds more like a teenager with a crush on a girl more than an adult waiting on a video game. "If she doesn't call me tonight I don't see how she will have any friends left come Monday. I'll tell everyone about how she stood me up, we'll give her the silent treatment - and THEN she'll pay."

Yes you would be right if you feel slighted, since your kind was attacked by Tasos.

Exactly, he exposed himself as unprofessional, and unprepared for the job hes inby doing so. Way to attack instead of recruit the disillusioned.

    Who hired this guy anyway?

    hey guess what?

It's a FFA/PVP Full Loot game, if you think Tasos is to hard for your sencible mind, don't bother playing the game.

And I'll guess you would recommend him to use your own tactics instead of saying that the trolls suck?

Talking around and around never getting to any kind of point.. oh no yuo already accuesed him of doing that and then you said it was a BAD thing..

I did not get that. I actually felt positive about him as a developer. Sounds like he has a passion for game making and a vision that he is not willing to break unlike so many wishy washy game makers today. I for one can't wait to try the game, I will be supporting them by buying a copy.

I am sick of the game makers that build their game to suit the c ries on forums. Always ruins a game.

I'm hoping it will release on this date, but we all know release dates aren't worth the paper they're written on in the MMO industry.

I agree. Tasos shoots from the hip. He doesn't pander to the kiddies like he's advertising a Disney Movie or something. You would think that after the sweet talk and hype from companies like FunCom and Mythic that Tasos's brand of honest, no nonsense answers would be like a breath of fresh air. But you just can't please some people no matter what you do.

Tasos shoots from the hip? Are you serious? The man has been double talking for years, hes inferred beta and release dates, if you have already forgotten he just went back on his '08 release promise.

Im talking about plain old professionalism. The kind that dont use derogitory slang, that dont say "oh the competition is scared". Were not talking about  hype and sweet talk, were talking about a man who isnt competent at his job and proved it 100x over in this interview.

His defensive attitude tells me hes not as confident as he wants you to think.

I keep noticing posters defending Tasos.  I just have to ask the question, what has this guy done to make you believers?  If you sit back and think about it, it is easy to make a case of unbelievability against this guy.  He has no success record, not one of his statements can be backed up with proof, as no game to date has been kept under such a cloud of secrecy as this one.   Past history shows promises never kept, and a consistent me against the world attitude.

The only thing I can come up with is that you are a bunch of very gullible people desperate for something new on the MMO front.  I can emphasize that, every new game that comes out seems to be a weak clone of the others.   It would be really nice to experience something different.   I really do hope Aventurine can pull this off.  It is time for a indie company to wake up the copycats to their errors.

But defending Tasos in this interview is an exercise in futility.   All I see is a very defensive spoiled child here.  Not what you should be portraying to the public trying to win their trust.

All we can do is wait and see when the game releases and hope the game is actually worth playing because up to this point I am not willing to take Tasos's word on anything.

I'm glad he was asked direct questions about the game being Vaporware. I would have preferred he said "I have been an MMORPG gamer since UO or EQ and have played most of them out there, trust me, this game is what MMORPG players want", but the defensive answer can be justified if the game turns to to be decent. I keep worrying about how Indie this game is, but even if the tech behind it is 5 years old I'll be happy to have the first UO-clone MMORPG since UO(maybe Shadowbane as well).

He was so unprofessional in this interview, Id like to know how he got this job in the first place. He comes off as snippish, arrogant, and just plain rude. Ive seen front desk clerks in motel 6s come across with more professionalism than this guy can muster.
Frankly I don't think hes cut out for the job, he, like Aventurine has no prior experience, and frankly his attitude isn't helping Darkfall one bit.Seriously I can point you in the direction of some good training videos for dealing with the public Tasos, you obviously need help.

Frankly I dont think Tasos has the predisposition or even the personality to hold the position within this company that he does.

Honestly I think I could have handled this interview better than he did. I wouldnt have resorted to deragatory slang, or said companies are afraid of mine, or said any number of the jaw dropping, arrogant things he threw out there. Unbelievable, this company needs all the respect they can garner considering where they stand, and here this guy is, making them look even worse at a time when they need to look as professional and poised as they can.

    Brad McQuaid.

And Brad McQuaid was the last developer that had vision and a passion for MMORPGs. You enjoy your generic pop star churned out soulless games of today? I sure do not. I miss EQ, that game had passion. It is dated now and ruined by expansions but it was the last of MMORPGs with heart.

Vanguard failed because Brad McQuaid is no business man and he shouldn't have tried to run a company. He should stay the artist he is by creating games that have heart and soul.

If this fellow is like Brad, then I can't wait to play this game. If your comment about Brad was suppose to be negative, I don't see it that way. That man knows how to create a fantastic MMORPG. The MMORPGs of today do not compare to the depth of EQ to this day. Sure they are pretty but lack substance.
