Anyone who is having fun in Darkfall, good luck, I'm not sure how long it's going to last.

^^ Exactly... as stated by many people. The existance of Mortal Online is moot. Darkfall was doomed the moment the lifted the NDA. Some beta testers predicted an September Bankruptacy...  it's gonna be close, possibly October.

I do not see Darkfall making it to November

And MOrtal Online is not the next coming of Jesus Christ or a better invention than sliced bread. It might be fun, might be a turd.

I just need to say that even if the game is amazing or it sucks, the staff at Mortal Online has been more upfront and professional than any gaming company I have ever seen.  They aren't going around like Tasos did saying that everything is amazing in the game, but instead they are saying look, we have a product that you may or may not like, here are the features.  And, if the game sells well, here are the features that will be added soon in patches.  For them, lying would be the worst possible mistake, especially because they probably payed very close attention to Darkfall's release and PR as an example of what NOT to do.

MO should pay AV big $$$ to get the credit card numbers of all the people who play DarkFall, so they can ban them from every stepping foot into Mortal Online, or at least make it more difficult for them.

Anybody who plays DarkFall is a moron and should be treated as one.

Trolls come to bash the people they despise (i.e Fanbois) yet don't realise they are themselves fanboi but for a different game and actually acts the same way a "Fanboi" do when his game is targetted by a Troll......quite funny.....

More funny, a failboi ^^^^ that tries to hide his obsession with DnF calling "Trolls" fanboi's for a different game, when so many of us have been the longest term followers and supporters of this game, but turned on it when it became obvious it was a total lie and fabrication.

So what game am I a fanboi for since I slam AV and what they have done with Dork-n-Fail every chance I can? You seem to have some insight into the minds of others so tell me what is my game I support to the level of a Darthraiden or other failbot???

Comment was meant towards all those "DF is shit so I join MO". As for DarkFall itself, I really enjoy the game but it is far from reaching the "obsession level". Can you explain that you who "seem to have some insight into the minds of others "?

Yes we can.  MMORPG's are not new.  We've had some very detailed #'s over the years and understand the operation cost of running such companies.  Just because you are ignorant of these facts, doesn't mean everyone here on MMORPG.com is as dumb as you.
Older games that have had some success and slowly declined to just 18K subs can and do survive, as they made considerable money while they were new. Vanguard only has about 25k players, yet when it was new it sold 300k boxes and subs, neting $15 million in just a few short months...
Darkfall on-the-hand, didn't have a successful start, has no major influx of cash and is idling @ roughly 9k subscribers ($135,000/month). Which is not even enough to cover their operation costs. The $900k they made in box sales already went to the investors for interest on the $12milion loan they have to repay.

    With 30 employee's all making $12/hour = $61,000/month in just wages.
Bandwidth lease is probably = $25,000/month
Lease on their offices + insurance, taxes, warter, electric = $10k/month
Leasing the game servers + maintenance = $15k/month
    Interest on $12,000,000 = ??

Of coarse, these are lowball figures and I didn't include everything, but you get the idea
That is why we will never see a NA server, because there isn't enough people playing the EU-1 server, to make enough money to warrent a NA-1 server.  It will cost Aventurine some $100k and they just don't have that type of cash. Specially with a declining player-base.

The business model is just not sustainable, that is why you will see Darkfall close it's doors later this year.

Yeah the wages for developers should be at least around $40hr. I should know at least that much.

you say no NA server will not open up in the next say 60 days, AV as said just last week that there will be.

Just just wait shall we :)

Tasos said just last week that the NA Server will open in the next 60 days. That should be proof enough that it will not..

Launching a NA server, or I should say, selling the idea of a NA server, is possibly the last ditch attempt of AV to squeeze the last drop of money from its investors, before the key developer make away with their embezzlement.  There is a very common form of business cheating.  Let me explain.

A crook Mr Tasos writes a grand thesis on a big model, say running a restaurant.  He found some stupid investors, who like the idea of a restaurant selling food from every country, with take away, delivery and even personal massage when being fed, in VIP rooms, lying on Roman Caesar type modern sofas.  Ok Mr Tasos the crook collected $15m.  He knows $15m won't make it, but that is not the point, he only need those stupid investors to start the ball rolling.

He signed a contract for a site, big empty 3 storey block, he draw up big plans for rennovation and interior decoration.  It took a few years, no progress.  The investors stormed his office.  Mr Tasos told them that all money are committed, and things are going as planned,   A $5m additional funding will speed things up and within months, huge buckets of greenbacks will roll in as the restaurant of the century operates.

Now he got another $5, that sums to $20, still that is not enuf to create a restaurant with every recipe, every cuisine and so on.  So another 2 years go by, the investors storm Mr Tasos ths crook's office again with armed escorts.  Mr Tasos said, "after all, you already put in $20m, stopping me now will mean total lost.  Why not put in another $1m, just $1 m, and we can open another shop nearby, across the street."

What do you think when he got the extra, last, $1m?  He will open 2 restaurants miraculously?  Or he will buy a mexican passport and vanish?

See^^   some people do understand what this creep is up too.  We;ve seen it several times by several "indie" developers who payed themselves a great paycheck while supposedly making some awsome game... over 4~5 years.  Then release it to craptastic results, while still selling the problems as lipservice.

Retarded stepchildren who don't have a proper upbringing or education, are unable to recognise a flop & buy into the idea of "lipservice", while 99% of the intelligent people run the other way...

No, I said that^^, because I predicted Horizons, Dark & Light and several other games (I have bete tested, over the last 13 years) , demise before they happened. I wasn't alone either. No big deal...  I have predicted many games failures over the years, as they are not hard to spot. Thats why some 309,000 beta applicants, ran from this game once the NDA dropped.

Remeber Horizons "Media blackout" ..? Aventurine's been in a media black out for the last 13 months..! They cannot face the public and must spin everthing.

Only trolls say such comments, as mine were derived of many years of watching MMORPGs and knowing all their histories. Darkfall is an utter flop and will be bankrupt within just a few months. Their investors will have to protect themselves against losses, etc.

Nothing new...  but seeing how incompetent Tasos is, I already know the fate of this game. As can anyone who been around playing these games for 7~13 years !!

So far my craptastic computer is handling Darkfall just fine.
Anyway, at the rate they are losing players, Darkfall will be dead in a few months anyway. I'm just enjoying it now while there are still other people to play with.

Its not really, the overall majority of people that quit are waiting for the North America server, since its pointless to pay 30 bucks for the next 2 months just to patch. We will all be back at NA release with fresh characters, Hyperion and all

Do you really belive Av will have a NA server up in 2 months? I mean really these are the same people that said it was almost done and was going into beta for years. Hell they missed their promised 2008 release date by over 2 months! Surely you know some background on AV and Tasos? If and When a NA server comes out the EU server that they can't fill now will become a ghosttown and die even you seem to realize this as you say "Why pay 30 bucks for the next months just to patch" Seems to also imply the game is just not that much fun to you and your guild. However back on topic why would they release a NA server when it will just kill the current one they have. Also if they ever do release a NA server 5-6 months later it will just be the same thing as the Current EU server with all the players and Guild wanting to jump ship to a new server with "fresh characters" to try their luck again. The same reasons you and your guild want out of EU will for the most part still be there

Yes, MO has a 50/50 chance there. But do you know the difference?

MO hasn't released. It has the luxury of a 50/50 chance.

Darkfall is released. It doesn't have the luxury of a 50/50 chance anymore.

My personal opinion is that Mortal Online will be delayed and Darkfail will go broke before Mortal Online releases.  So, in other words, no, Mortal Online will not finish off Darkfail Online.  Darkfail Online will finish itself off.  It's like a late term abortion, just look at how they have structured the "release".  I think they are not even trying to give birth to this game, I think they are just pushing it part way out and then vacuuming its brains out.  Then the corpse of the game will get thrown in the toilet, this is what disgusting lesser forms of humans do on a regular basis, but sometimes other humans get mad about it and kill them, like what happened in the USA a couple weeks ago.  I mean late term abortionists, not software developers.  Nobody kills software developers.  Anyways.... fuck, too much acid.

Personally? I cant stand 3rd person view. I am ok with a game not being huge as long as I can find something that is MMO and is NOT 3rd person view.

This all said, I find it intresting how MO release date has already been moved back and they removed the player housing that they promised. Yet people leave DF becuase of broken promises.

Thing is about all these promises, promises are for small girls. Either I like the game as it is, or I dont. for me personally, not only do I like DF at this time I dont see any other game I would rather play. That said, cartoons and 3rd person view (and dont take this personally) is an insult to me.

MO did not remove player housing. The only thing they said regarding them was that they will not be able to be sieged at release.

At this point, if you read the developer posts, youll see its much less like an infomercial and they are very open about what is NOT going to make the game at release, and what is going to be added after. They even said, if people want sieges at release, they would be able to implementi t quickly like AoC in instanced areas, but if they want to do it the "right" way, they need to build it from the bottom up.

They want to have player vs player, group vs group, and guild vs guild combat actually playable, then they are going to add houses, THEN sieges.

People who played DF probably realized by now that this is how it should be done. They added the sieges first yes, but no housing, and if your not in sieges, PvP combat is much harder to find then it should be - you can run for hours and if you even find it, the people will likely be naked.

I would be more then pleased to play MO without sieges, as long as there is enough PvP combat to have fun.
