I will never play darkfall. It just isn't the game for me since it's based on pvp and has little to no pve and there is hardly any focus on lore. I like to be immersed in a game, and from what I've read Darkfall lacks that immersion. I also do not like pvp. For those reasons alone, Darkfall is not the best game on the market.
If you had said that," Darkfall is the best game on the market, for me". Then I would have no qualms, but your statement is factually wrong. If we were going by poularity, then WoW would be the best game on the market. If we were going by pvp, then Eve would be the best game on the market. If we were going by pve, then lotro would be the best game on the market. If we were going by graphics, then AoC would have that title. (these are just my opinion of the best in each field) If you notice, Darkfall cannot claim the crown on any of those criteria and thus cannot be the best on the market.
The only skill required in darkfall is aiming right the rest is just spamming a button just like the rest. On the other hand it is rather cool its just a shame a real developer didn't make this sorta game it would be amazing to see the true potential of this genre
hmm, I see it everyday I log in.
And lol, you'll need more than learning how to aim if you plan on being successful in a game like this bud.
never said anything about being successful. You can absolutely suck at pvp and still make something of yourself through crafting and such in a large clan.
Thanks for admitting that aiming is not the only skill required in darkfall. This is contrary to my original quote of yours. Good show chap.
skill doesn't make success. Endless grinding of skill does. And this game is king. Thanks for proving me right my friend.
Exactly my view in the post above yours. The DF designers has made fools of their gamers. Instead of a summary number called character level, they created a lot of numbers called skill levels. Skills are just levels, multiple levels. No more no less. The claim that DF is a level-less game is total bullshit. It has unlimited levels. No level cap. Multiple skills. Endless grinding.
It is a game that fits those who are lazy and unwilling to use their brains. There is no need to plan, no need to make choices. Just log in and endlessly train everything, as the journey is infinite. There is no character development, as everyone is the same. There is no choice as there is only one choice, keep levelling everything. It is the most linerar game on earth. just grind, and grind what? All.

I said it is the best based on its feature set. A feature set that only Vanguard comes close to.
Darkfall is:
Huge
Beautiful
Death with consequence
Sieging
Crafted siege equipment and machines
FFA
Player made cities
Housing
Player skill
Skill based vs leveling based
Dynamic Lore (being implented) and was a successful event
It is just fun. Like playing a game of Madden or CoD. You just play the game and the skills and what not are just minors things that add to the enjoyment.
I am not saying that DF has done this right; I haven't played the game.
The largest problem in this is that if people can't come in and compete fairly quickly it gets old getting your ass kicked. So, the longer from the games release the harder it gets to draw in more people. Unlike a game like Madden or CoD where you can pretty much jump in and compete in a short period of time.
But my point is that not all games have a "grind" this seems to be something only occurring in MMO's. But I feel that a pvp game could be the best way of removing the grind from the game. In Wow all I did in game was play in the BG's.
If there were more of them, with some sort of larger purpose and I could have gained levels through them I would have been happy.
Also, some larger scale open world type pvp would have added some good change of pace.

You want detail reasons? Easy.
Look at the design behind a character in WoW, the dimensions of choices, the talent trees, the matching gear, gems, enchants, food, buffs. That is design. Look at DF? No design. Create some names, call it stamina, strength whatever cat and mouse, give it numbers 1 to infinite, and let all the gamers sit and grind them all. That is lazy design.
Why is it stupid? The designers suggested that they are producing a game without character levels. In the end they deliver a game with endless levels of everything. If that is not stupid, that is intentional misleading.
As for my credibility, are you the one to judge? You suddenly rise above us and hand out judgment? Good lord. Take a look at the mirror. Who do you see inside? Why the desperate need to call me out? Because you are afraid I show the emperor's coat to everyone?
You feel proud because you are willing to sink your time in timesinks that are simply designed to sap you in, and leech your youth? Good, not me. Look at your logic. If I can see through the bad design and see clearly that these time sinks are just smoke screen trying to mask a mess of poor design and shallow constructs, do you think I will appreciate what you think is fun? Calling it fun does not make it fun, creating threads like this claiming that DF is established as whatever, will not establish anything. What are you trying to do? Repeating lies as many times as you can and people will start believing in it? Hitler did that 80 years ago. That is old trick. You guys are still using the 80 year old method of preaching?
What am I doing here? Poking through stupid arguement when I have time for fun. Yes, that is better fun than grinding magic missile rank 1, rank 2, rank 3 ...

Half those features would be considered negatives to most individuals. For you I'm sure these are what makes the game the best for you.
Agreed with above poster, Darkfall is a niche, it maybe the best for 1 and terrible for other, but that is why we move on, and no troll on the forums about it, because then the people who enjoy darkfall will just troll you back.
I find darkfall the best game, but the next man may not, which is why there is different reviews/opinions on this game and will always be, same with EVE/WOW/AION/AOC/WAR

When you talk about WoW classes then what your talking about is limitations. You cannot use that weapon, or learn that skill. You are pigeon holed into that role.
Darkfall has hundreds of skills with no limitations. For some people that is simply to much to comprehend. It is best to start with a playstyle and get better at it and keep adding as you play.
While I do think Darkfall needs a skill cap, if I focus on my playstyle and improve those skills, I can still be successful.

This is where Darkfall is improving. When it was released everyone was hitting each other naked for skill gain and blood walling. Now you will instead have people fighting mobs since it skills you up faster and gives you loot.

Fact is, niche or not, every game has its followers and "haters". There is no need to convince the other side. Just play and accept that game hobbies are personal, so are choices.
On the other hand, making thread with titles like this thread, is plain stupid.
I will never play darkfall. It just isn't the game for me since it's based on pvp and has little to no pve and there is hardly any focus on lore. Other gamers can also give you a list of content that are in their game that are not in Darkfall. It doesn't make their game better, or worse. It makes it a bit different. Claiming a game is the best is just setting it up for failure. I can see how people who like pvp ffa full-loot games might like Darkfall, but what about those of us who like pve and lore and don't like to pvp? Is this still the "Best game on the market"? I would have to say....no.
I'm glad you enjoy the game and that AV is finally trying to get over that dismal launch, but don't claim a game is the best when it clearly lacks things for all audiences.
And before anyone jumps in about me wanting the game changed to "Carebear Mode", I don't. I'm glad the pvp'ers of the world have their games and I have mine. I think diversity is what is needed in the genre.

Yes, I believe that AV is trying to fix the game. They have not yet pulled the plug and embezzled the funds during the toughest days of their fiasco launch. This is credit to them.
I cannot read the future, I cannot foresee what magic they can pull. EvE did make a miraculous recovery, while Mystic stupidly destroyed DAoC. So who knows which game will shine tomorrow.
That said, as it stands today, DF is not yet established as a good game, let alone the best game, for the majority of gamers. It can be your best game or his, but in terms of head counts, the current sub base is a definitely rebuttal.
When you talk about WoW classes then what your talking about is limitations. You cannot use that weapon, or learn that skill. You are pigeon holed into that role. In a traditional MMO, you are not "pigeonholed" into a class. You choose a class, from a variety. And, within that class, you have options and directions. You make it sound a lot more arbitrary than it really is.
In DFO, everyone converges to a same basic full slate. Sure, you can focus on X and Y, but you know you are at a disadvantage if you do that. This is one of my main gripes: eventually, everyone will be wearing the same "best" armor, chucking the same "best" nuke", using the same "best" bow and wielding the same "best" weapon. From my perspective, it's simply not fun, killing stone cold my immersion. Others might enjoy that, more power to them.
Games thrive on individuality. It's nice to have specialists, and rely on them to do their job while you do yours. This promotes strategic thinking, careful approaches and individual skill much more than the broad, generalist approach DFO currently has. And please, I'm not saying that there's no skill and strategy in DFO. All I'm saying is that, with a little creativity, it could be SO much more.
Agreed with above poster, Darkfall is a niche, it maybe the best for 1 and terrible for other, but that is why we move on, and no troll on the forums about it, because then the people who enjoy darkfall will just troll you back.

This is one issue I really seem to differ on myself. I think a well thought out skill cap would be a blessing. Especially for the future of this game. Seems silly for everyone (for the most part) to have the exact same skills more or less.

Brainless time sink, shallow simple game from a stupid lazy designer, who creates a lot of attributes, leave them all uncapped, and every gamer sit tight and train every skill forever.
Your stooping down to "stupid" and "lazy" now, lol. You have precious little credibility around here sir. Calling the devs "lazy" when it is you that cannot handle time sinks that may take some time is funny.
Ask yourself when you actually logged in and played last.
Oh ya, and if we're all here because the game is so terrible, wth are you doing here?
I said it is the best based on its feature set. A feature set that only Vanguard comes close to.
Darkfall is:
Huge
Beautiful
Death with consequence
Sieging
Crafted siege equipment and machines
FFA
Player made cities
Housing
Player skill
Skill based vs leveling based
Dynamic Lore (being implented) and was a successful event
Superior Mob Ai
Ships
Accountability (one character per server)
Minimal restrictions
Open world (no instances, minus the dungeons)
Rafts
Everything craftable
No auto aim
No tab targeting
...just off the top of my head.
Half those features would be considered negatives to most individuals. For you I'm sure these are what makes the game the best for you.
You poor clueless little bugger, I have nothing more to say to you. Logic will not penetrate that skull of yours.
Ah while you criticize my use of words "stupid" and "lazy", you are free to launch direct personal assaults.
That about demonstrates your integrity and the honesty behind your words.
What logic have you demonstrated? A pile of views, a lot of dirty words. Pure rage.
Coming from people who troll( rage at the game because it is not their fairy land) his words are acceptable.
DAoC has something quite like what you wish for, unfortunately the game is now dead, too old. In its hey days, its epic fun.
Look at this video and tell me that isn't real player skill here or just "button" spamming.

DF is a game with no depth. All you have is endless grinding of all skills and then zerg and click buttons. If I want action games, Sony PS2 has already given me far better games in form of Street Fighters. If I wand FPS, there are games miles better than that video.

Some people can't be helped i respect most of the ppl on these forums who have the brain power to do more than name calling.
Bravo.
Fact is, niche or not, every game has its followers and "haters". There is no need to convince the other side. Just play and accept that game hobbies are personal, so are choices.
On the other hand, making thread with titles like this thread, is plain stupid.

Bravo.

Thank your for being intelligent Izure
This is one issue I really seem to differ on myself. I think a well thought out skill cap would be a blessing. Especially for the future of this game. Seems silly for everyone (for the most part) to have the exact same skills more or less.
