Sebastian said in IRC that he has fixed the lag. And he said the AI is off so they can build another version of it. Weird thing is, he rebooted the server, edited some settings and 2 minutes later he was saying "all lag gone!" How does he know that in 2 minutes before anyone is even able to log back in?
The thing that bothers me is, they turned AI off and then said the lag was fixed. Does that mean the AI was broken causing the lag? Is it going to lag once they turn the AI back on? Sounds like they are trying to say they fixed something when it might not have been fixed as the AI is now turned off.
Here is the entire log

....Cool.
Too bad I myself am beyond jaded and couldnt bring myself to reinstall this game if the assurance of "everything works now" was stickied across their Official Forum.
I really wish this game luck and will check back in a year or so (assuming MO exists in a year or so)
Also, I state now that I think the dev in IRC is just wrong. Total speculation on my part (based on what I have seen) but easily validated in the next day or two when I will appologize (if I am wrong) .

Great - now if only my launcher would do something other than FAIL.
Haven't been able to patch the game up for two days... apparently it's a common problem.
BOYCOTTING EA / ORIGIN going forward.
Thats what I took from that as well.
Along with the dev saying "lag?" as if he was totally clueless that lag was ever an issue-
"what, lag?- why didnt someone say something? There- fixed. See how easy"
Yea, this is also interesting. Not sure what to take from it.
Ya as far as im concerned this game has become a joke.
Well it is true, they disabled the AI to fix the lag
Edit, now people are saying they were editing the database to fix the lag. Who knows.
Looks like the AI was lagging the server...
Well now they just need to make a no laggy AI.
Become?
Its making DFO/Aventurine look simply polished and professional. Maybe somethings like the discussion in the IRC just shouldn't be shared. (probably happens in every game though)

Wow I didnt catch that.... Just Wow....
And now they are going home apparently? So if all the stuff they "messed around with" ends up causing further problems they get to report to a forum the problems which will be met with "its beta idiot" or when questioning why the devs would make changes and go home when the game is racking up negative rep points faster than a whore in church the reply will be "devs have families and need time off too" or "sweedish law" or blah, blah.
Must be nice to live in sweeden where you can take investors money PLUS pre order s- Totally fail (and thus far they have) but not care enough about their company to put in the work it takes....Hell, we have POLICE OFFICERS working 2 days a month for FREE to avoid layoffs and keep their jobs.
-This is just very unprofessional.
Making a new AI in an open beta is going to hurt them IMO
That's pretty much where I'm at as well. Been test off and on since Block A, and really just don't have any more patience for things as they are. I've gone back to EVE full time, and will likewise check back in with MO in a year or so if it's still around.
Oh and still haven't gotten my box.
...
guys remember if you got offload on(network)you need to set flow control off .its on microsoft website!

You think =/
lol
Weird thing is, he rebooted the server, edited some stuff, and 2 minutes later he is yelling "LAG IS GONE!" How can he tell that fast?
When there will be no more options left they would probably turn off server and then post that all problems are gone!
Sorry, couldn't help myself :P
It would be funny if it were not in realm of possibility.
If they are really turning the AI off to fix the Lag- How does the AI get tested? Also, call me ill informed here, but its my understanding that AI is probably one of the more complex processes (not that I know much about programming MMO's- It seems pretty logical) and if AI needs to be reworked to stop lag. Its going to get really ugly, really fast.
-Still all speculation but the more I hear, the worse things sound for even remote success.
haha, good one
Funny thing is... not a single post about this by a developer on the forum. I just checked the Dev tracker and there actually haven't been an update about the lag issue in 5 days.. and back on the 5th the post was a blurb from the Community Manager that said the new patch (on the 5th) was supposed to fix the lag.
Communication at it's finest... What exactly does the Community Manager do?
All time classic MY NEW FAVORITE POST! (Keep laying those bricks)

i've just got to laugh at you people who post stupid crap like this. the game is in BETA, i will say it again THE GAME IS IN BETA. people who rage quit a game from playing a beta version are better off getting a cardboard box and playing fort like a 2 year old.
you guys complain and complain about this game from its beta (and isnt it open beta atm giving people a chance to see if they even want to buy it?) they have pushed the release date again beacuse they understand people arent happy with it. they communicate well with the public to let them know what is going on.
stop bitching about them or get a refund/stop playing.
anyone remember WoW at release? i remember getting about a month of free play for how big a pile of steaming shit it was at RELEASE...
Closed beta would be a good excuse, but this is open beta and it releases in a few weeks. They are building a completely different AI in the OPEN BETA. No excuse, that should have been fixed months ago.
Please read these articles on why beta is not an excuse.

Dude, in a week and a half I have witnessed Mods insult people, selectivly delete threads (and even certain posts dissapear magically) and generally not answer very much.
Whatever the Community Manager does I hope he/she has a current resume.
Seriously, there is not even an official thread dealing with the patcher- Its like if they ignore something long enough or just let the fanbois demean people to the point they dont post or ban/censor people with genuin concerns- It will all be okay.
Some of that community is beyond helpful and should be getting paid for doing SV's job- Others are just caught in blind devotion....The point being, they either dont see or dont care.
-And word is spreading like wildfire.
EDIT: to the post above me.
Oh this is Beta...okay, never been in one of those before . I will take your word that this is normal and all is good. SV is doing a good job now and this game will blow everyone away with its uburness in the next couple weeks when it magicly gets good at release....Okay.
I agree they should get another community manager to help with their PR. Maerlyn is a cool guy, talked to him before in the public ventrilo. But he is really slacking right now. They haven't said anything about the lag since before the last patch was added. And they have not even said anything about the patcher, just that long post from a few weeks ago that says to restart it multiple times... lol...
The free time for WoW was due to server downtime because Blizzard seriously underestimated their player base.
There are serious issues with this game if they are looking at re-writing the AI code in the open beta phase.
In addition, I'm not sure how many games you've tested, but in the open beta phase, the game is typically as it will be for release and open beta serves as nothing much more than a stress test.. There may be minor changes or additions, but nothing as monumental as AI re-coding. So the "it's in beta idiiots!!@!" argument really holds no water at this point. Were it in closed beta with an NDA still in effect I would agree with you, but open beta is basically a "here it is, try it out while we monitor the stress tests before we go live" deal.
Keep in mind some people are "bitching" because they care and want the game to succeed, so don't be so quick to judge.
