    Is this not an issue for any other good or service? If a carpenter comes into your house, and screws up the job you take him to court stop the check, or do a chargeback. Also, there is a time limit on chargebacks. You can't play the game for 90 days, and then get a refund.

    Its the company's responsibilty to ensure people want to play their game. Why should people pay if its not up to par? No other industry works that way. If you hire somone, buy something, etc., there is always recourse if the work done is not proper. Why should buying a video game be any different?

     It depends on the reasons for the chargeback.  I am not familiar with the reasons he gave his card company/paypal for the second chargeback.  If it was invalid the company could certainly fight it as such.

     

    My own chargeback was due to non-delivery of product.   When you accept Visa/Mastercard etc you also accept their terms of service.  One of those involves delivering the purchased product within a certain amount of time.  They charged my card in July, but had not delivered a product, nor responded to multiple attempts to obtain an update.. by early December.  This fit the criteria required to file a chargeback for failure to deliver the product.   The card company attempted to contact them as well but as far as I know they never even responded, thus the charges were reversed and all interest refunded.  The kicker is that about a month or so later I actually received the boxed copy of the game (it didn't work.. but that's another story).  My mail to them stating that I would be happy to return it if they wanted to pay for shipping went unanswered...

     

    TLDR: Credit Cards come with certain benefits for the users to protect tem from shady companies.  If a company decides to accept these cards as a form of payment they are bound to honor the terms of service.  If they cannot meet them.. customers are well within their rights to exercise their rights to a chargeback.  The only fraund is that of a company failing to meet those terms of service which were agreed to by use of the card.

    I get why charge backs are their. To keep the costumer safe, but using that feature to do this isn´t that using the system?

    I can find wrongs in all the mmos I have played, I can find forum post saying that they suck and pictures of buggs just like he did. I just think what he did was wrong and unfair, on top on all that he is on this forum and this forum is full of post that state current games and their status. So on top of all that he did know how the game was, the first thing I did when this game realesed was to look up what the forum said and the first weeks their was not much good on them.

    1- Did you not play beta up untill release?

    2- If you did then you know what state the game was in yes?

    3- You have been following the game for over a year yes?

    4- If you ahve been following the game then you know about all the issues with box sales, the crap book, the shit cd with the shit client?

    5- Did not not bash the game during beta all the way up untill release?

    6- Did you think just because one day after beta the game and the people running it would be in some way different?

    7- Is this your 1st MMO other than WoW?

    8- Why did you buy the game?

    9- When you buy other PC games do you get to beta test them all before you buy? If you buy them and do not Like them/Buggy game play, do you return them? If you can not return them because you do not like them/Buggy game play do you get a charge back?

    8- Why did you buy the game?No. I knew the state of the game.

    9- When you buy other PC games do you get to beta test them all before you buy? If you buy them and do not Like them/Buggy game play, do you return them? If you can not return them because you do not like them/Buggy game play do you get a charge back? No I research the game after release, read reviews, check player comments about the game on gamming sites and ask questions about the state of the game if it looks like it is buggy. If I then buy the game and it sucks/buggy game play then it is on me.

    IIRC, rlmccoy noted that he was using a different method of payment when he announced that he was buying the game a second time.

     game was never down  2 weeks, stop lieing, yes it has been down alot, WOW had major lag issues , which made people change servers many times including me.,..

     

    My advise to you as you love to do this, is top stop buying new releases period. Since you love to cry about every game , I have read all of your post historys you seem to do this alot and whine about it, All games give you more content down the road if they didnt they you would ahve a case.,

     

    To bad you are missing out. Its a great game so far.. I had doubt at first now i,m glad I got it, the game is improving by the day..

    I agree completely with the OP, there has been downtime nearly every day that lasts for hours and its practically a miracle for the servers to stay up for more than two hours at a time.  It's pathetic that a game can't stay online long enough and even its fans (not fanboys though) are starting to get a little more testy as the bad patches continue to do nothing.

     

    Overall the game released in a state that was bad, as the devs stated it would, but they said it would be better than this.  It hardly ever runs, the product is just as unfinished as it was in beta, and the excuses of it being in beta have dried up.  It's fraud to sell a product such as this and make some of the claims that they do on the website.

     

    He can't play the product at HIS convenience, the product isn't complete, doesn't have all the advertised mechanics, and while it does run, it works poorly.

     

    Edit: And even if someone comes on here and says, "No the servers ran for four hours yesterday" or something like that, its still more than a month into release at this point and that is pathetic that it could take that long to find your footing as a game.

    I honestly do not see this game lasting for years.  Game has to be the worst release MMO in the history of MMOs.  I mean, it just does not work at all.

    It's more like the game simply isn't even remotely ready.  I would even argue that after a month, it's still barely ready for closed beta testing.  I tried to enjoy myself while playing.. but the only things that actually looked decent and in working order was the harvesting.  I love what they are trying to do, however I don't love how they have tried to do it.  It's literally amateur hour in the Starvault offices.  I haven't asked for my refund, as I hope my $70 will help make the game decent, but I can see why this guy did what he did.  It's like you go to a restaraunt and you order something you know you like.  You get the food and it's horrible and you get your money back.  You come back the second time after everyone you know says that it's great, it must have been a mistake.. and you get the same crappy ass food that you recieved the first time.  Just because you did it twice doesn't mean that it's okay for the company to screw you twice.  Perhaps he had some information that would prevent others from playing and chose to ignore it and give it another shot.  Again, expecting things to look better... they just simply didn't.  Then going and insulting him because of it is just silly. 

     

    I can't stand the fanboi hater crap.  What happened to calling a spade a spade?  Mortal Online should have stayed in development for another 3-4 months at least, and that's being generous.  I haven't even gotten my box yet and I doubt I will.  How is that professional?  The company as a whole is completely in over their heads and you know what.. I hate to go back on what I've said, but if they don't fix things quickly I think Darkfall may still be the better game in the long haul.

    Kinda funny, they were talking about improved server stability, yet as I am writing now, people are going wild in IRC because server been staying down for quite a while (and no, it's not because they are patching it)..

    But then who would he argue with? If you think he didn't have a well formed opinion before purchasing the game a second time, you obviously haven't been following this forum.

    If the criticism was a bit more realistic, there'd be less fanboi reaction.  According to some, MO is not just rough around the edges, or in need of further development, but is the worst game ever, setting a new low for the entire field of mmo's etc.

    Unfortunately, they may not have had the option  of staying in development for 3-4 more months,

    Except at said restaurant, you'll end up getting your food for free if you complain about it; you don't eat the food, pay for it (even though you hate it), call your CC company to do a chargeback, and then go back to the same restaurant to eat the same food and do it all over again.

    The same applies to games.  Repeatedly buying a game and using CC chargebacks to get your money back in order to try and score free product is fraudulent.

    The point isnt that he isnt right about his points.

    He pre-ordered it = got chargeback = Ok, his right as customer

    He bought it again, although he knew it was in bad state (done chargeback already once) = done chargeback again = fraud

    With all the promises SV had pushed what stops a customer from buying it again thinking these promises were true which end up not happening.

    Doesn't matter what Mccoy said in the past, you can fight this till you are blue in the face but as a customer he is right.

    Exactly.. these guys STILL haven't delivered a working DVD to the people who bought the boxed version.. one month after launch!  Even though right now on their website it says "All pre-launch updates freely shipped on DVD"

    There are a lot of delusional posts here :

    - The game is not down for hours, 5 mins at a time that is all

    - There was no 2 week period where th game was offline

    - They are fixing things every 2 days or so there is patch

    - There is NOTHING like this game out on the market at all apart form the original Ultima Online. and Darfall, but Darkfall is just not up to much YET. Until Darkfall has racial wars and Lore then it is just a teenage clan fest = boring

    So Mortal Online is an excellent game that is improving day by day. Stop the delusional negativity around it please.

    I only see 1 delusional post here. The concept of the game is awesome the game it self is horrible:

    Outdated graphics with a bad UI.

    I actually gaved it a try, true the disconnects happen every few minutes, and it would come back up.

    SV just doesn't know what they are doing IMO they just go along and a good example is how they changed the auto gathering everyone was just using a g15 before and ppl were complaining and saying oh its cheating and you get banned lol ya right soon enough they patched it and you can just auto gather now.

    Hacks will be abundant in MO if they arent already, SV has no way to control or detect anything.

    When the game came out there were so many bugs it was pathetic, from loot problems to not being able to hit creatures.

    After a week everything was still bad bugged creatures bugged npcs, lol you could see the same npc spawned 4x on the same spot rediculous >< bad bad bad.

    Again it is a awesome concept and looks great on paper, and thats about it.

     Where's the lore in the gameplay of MO? I can start in every "racial" city I Iike. Clans can have all races. Their are no racial bonus skills (which I don't mind). I had more fun during the launch of Darkfall. You say it lacks racial wars, but the clan wars were awesome. Especially when there still was one server and every clan and/or alliance was trying to own a city. Was trying to get the rare ores from the city nodes.

    Don't get me wrong, I like MO too. However I'm waiting till they are really adding fluff and features to the game. Since December 2009, they are only trying to fix the engine and the features they had. Thieving didn't make it in the release. Combat is still broken. Magic is a joke. And yeah they are adding a fix almost every other day, but that is to correct the patches they added earlier that week. I don't want to go for a refund, but to don't mind if I wait another 4+ months to resub.
