would prolly need to know more about both sides.  What game? was it an RP guild?  what is their policy on cursing?  what is the overall image of the guild?

either way sounds, retarded on both ends to be honest.

...better off without them I'd say.

As first responder said what matters is what is the policy on cursing and then to a lesser extent what kind of guild was it, rp guild?  I look at guilds much like jobs though if you find yourself kicked what does it matter who's right or wrong, the person in authority is always going to be on the inside looking at you outside so forget about it and move on I say.

but yeah, to call this game Fantastic is like calling Twilight the Godfather of vampire movies....

it was a non rp guild.

they did have a non swearing policy but why would a movie name set a GL off like that?

they're obviously a pos guild, can't take one little word....I am sorry but i've heard kids say worse things and if thats the reasoning for you getting kicked, find a better guild.

Perhaps your guild leader forgot to take their medication that day... or perhaps they did but needs their dosage upped.  Whatever though.. you are probably much better off without them.

well i know im better off without that guild leader.  someone pmed me to tell me to appologize. bit i wouldnt becasue to applogize to that would be againt my beleif. i said "kickass is just a movie. its not a big deal" someone said after me "kickass was a good movie too" (he was left alone) so the guy  rages and logs into every guild (it was an allience) trying to find me, so i tell him which one i am in, and say a nice goodbye to eveyone.

see i can unserstand a no cursing rule. cuseign can get out of hand, but if you are refrenceing a movie's NAME which you can read just walkign though wallmart. then there is something really wrong.

Are you sure it wasn't an accidental kick?  Or possibly something said that got taken way out of context and could have caused some over-reaction?  However, in the end it is best to find a group that fits your attitude and style of play so if they didn't like something you said, your probably better off without them anyway.

I was in a guild like that when I played EQ 2, they had one of the best guild halls on the server and they where super help full but if you said a curse word youd get a tell from a guild officer or leader threatening you to be removed, I am in my 30s and if i decided to use some foul language then that should be up to me. People takes running a guild in a MMO far beyond serious to often in my opnion.

     lol

My guess would be he only saw the movie's title, and jumped the gun, probably didn't even register with him that you were refferencing a movie at all.

If that's how well they can think and rationalize things, then I would think you were wasting your time with that guild anyways.

Well you said it yourself, they have a no swearing policy. Last time I checked, ass was considered a swear, movie title or not. You knew the rules. Find a guild that isn't as strict and you'll be back to kicking ass again in no time :)

it was no acident since he basicly told me he was kicking me, and basicly tried to hunt me down.

Definitely seems extreme...but to play devil's advocate, was that your first infraction?

Well how old is the guild leader?  He may not be up-to-date on his movie titles and here you are cursing in his guild.

Bottomline, just move on.  You know you didnt mean anything harmful, you'll find another guild and he'll go on his way doing his own thing.

just a thought...but maybe they were looking for an excuse to kick you, despite how petty?

  • RectifyerRectifyer Member Posts: 103

Guilds that have restrictions like that are stupid. Games are supposed to be a lighter environment to relieve you from the stress, not to be as strict or even more so than your school or workplace!

Er...I'm wondering if you had done other things prior to this particular instance.  I don't know you, and I don't know the guild leader...but having been a guild leader in the past, the other side of the story *could* be that you had a history of small infractions and the guild leader simply had enough (basically, it was the last straw).

It's just a question.  Context is everything...

Hmm strange, something is missing here for sure. You say another member used the same word again after you and nothign happened to them? And that the guild leader actually took the effort to hunt you down, and then told you he was kicking you. There has to be part of this situation we arent getting here. Thing about an ass guild leader is they think they are right, and they back up thier laws strictly, no exceptions. If you said somethign he didnt like, he would have just kicked you on the spot and explained to you why in PMs later. Why the delay from the time you said it? Why did another guild member have to PM you afterwards and ask you to appologize? And then, after that is why you got kicked? After the guild leader told you he was going to? What part of this are we not being filled in on? What got said in between the first comment and the kick, thats what we need to know. That appears to be more the reason for the kick than the movie name itself.

(DISCLAIMER - The use of the word YOU in the above post is not directed at any one person in particular, but towards those who fall into the category itself - there is no personal attack here, neither intentional nor implied.)

.... well seeing as it was the first time i ever was even talked to, and the fact that the only things i ever did was ask to play though parts of the game with others i dont see anything i possibly did.

Sounds like they were a mature and focused group of players who have some very strong rules in place (perhaps they have children playing!?) - sounds to me like you simply didn't fit in. They were justified in that they didn't want you and felt you broke the rules. Coming here and posting about it kinda confirms their decision tbh, so I salute them for having the conviction to stand up for what they feel is right.

It was the "solo" thing that did it, not the kickass.
