I'd say this only required a warning and a reminder of the rules.. however we dont know if you've been warned already before in which case a kick would be in order... Chances are you'll say you've never been warned before, just my experience on the internet.. regardless this seems like a personal matter and I'm confused as to why it was brought to the mmorpg forums for personal validation.. if someone knows they're right they usually dont go seeking others to agree with them. This is in no way a slam at the OP, jusy mt opinion of the sheer number of 'personal problems' that end up on these forums these days.
yet again i did not mean to make it personal i just want to get opinions on how others would run a guilds rules and enfoce them.
Saying kickass or twilight is grounds for a gkick.
If the guild is an Adult Only guild, mentioning somethine like you said, proves your a child. Not only are children pretty bad at gaming, but they also have squeeky voices on vent.
Maybe your guild was wanting to kick you anyways because you suck, but they like to do it in a funny way, like that. If you`re good, your guild wont kick you even if you break all their rules, because you carry them.
would prolly need to know more about both sides. What game? was it an RP guild? what is their policy on cursing? what is the overall image of the guild?
<snip>
This plus what is your history? Too often people whine about getting kicked for X and completely ignore the fact that this is the 42nd time they have been warned.
Too true I've been in leadership positions on more than a few guilds I've taken part in far more guild meetings over discipline than I care to note, sometimes certain things certain people do just rub others wrong. I've been in guild groups and heard conversations that I thought nothing of until that guild leader/member let me know what about the topic got to them, now honestly I play a game for fun and if any other emotion should enter the equation I don't deal with it anymore since bs in SWG so I've never cared either way until topics were brought to me.
We had one guild member who never really broke a single rule but what she did do was complain constantly, I took her with a higher level toon through the entire North Downs and the entire time she complained about everything from my characters powers to her own, we gave her nice equipment free of charge and she just continued to complain, in kin chat nothing but comlaints. Well after about six or seven different complaints of her bringing people down guild leader called a meeting and I then noted I had noticed it too we gave her a choice if I remember right more than a warning but needless to say she didn't last another week.
I could name off many other instances but why if the op is reasonable he should be able to see the same thing. I mean I just find it impossible to think that he has never been in any kind of trouble and if he hadn't that he hadn't noticed never seeing anyone else flex the rules as such.
I've been in similar situations as a guild officer myself. There are people that are just really annoying and cause drama but they don't actually break any of the official rules. So the officers are looking for any infraction they can use to actually get this person kicked without looking like kicking on a whim. The person that was kicked is usually clueless how disliked he/she was and puts the blame on the person who did the kicking as an opressive tyrant.

In that case regardless of what I would want the rules followed. If I had a no cursing rule which is usually brought on by a moajority wanting it that way then I would expect guild members to not do what you did. In a perfect world I would prefer to not see profanity of this day based in a game where they wouldn't speak like that so this could be a rule I'df be ina position to adopt, but hey if we're playing Grand Theft Auto online then curse away I expect it.
but yeah, to call this game Fantastic is like calling Twilight the Godfather of vampire movies....

Yes then you have been there before I can tell by that example haha!

was this the WoW Guild for edge gamers organization?
Elite Gladiators Order
Empathetic Grunts Occult
or some other names with the eGO acronym.
Well it sounds like them lol.
i wish not to reveal them. (i did say it was guild wars.)
ah, guildwars. i'm not surprised at all then. idk about any of you, but i've noticed that the players in GW seem to think they're all that and are pretty immature.
THis thread is pointless. The OP is either not being honest and telling only half the story or he does not realise how much of an anoying oik he is.
Either was I am happy the OP never played SWG pre NGE else he would be traumatised beyond belief, just move on this is a game take control set your own guild up that way you won't get kicked.

ok guys can i try this again..... instead of makeing this about me. lets try to do it the way i really wanted it to be,
wat do you guys think about rules, how shouldthey be enforced and when is it ok kick somone. i thought i had more then that buy all this drama people are pushing on me made me forget.
A guild is allowed to set any rules it wants, and to enforce those rules in a way it sees fit. So it is 100% acceptable to kick a person for breaking a rule, as it is their guild and their choice.
A person who joins the guild has no right at all to ignore the rules and then whine about them.
this is about opinion. this is not about how it should be it is about how you think you would.
My opinion is that the opinion rests with the guild leader and how s/he wants their guild to be run. If they want to kick a person for one violation that is fine since it is their call.
Essentially you want people to all say that they think it is ridiculous so you feel good. When in fact it is entirely at the discretion of the leaders and how they want to run their guild. People could tell you how they personally would run a guild, but that still has zero relevance here since how someone else would run a guild is their choice just as it was this guilds choice to kick you.
Some guild have a zero tolerance for swearing of any kind. Either because they personally don't like it, or because they allow any age to join their guild and want it to be clean for the younger players. Either way it is your job as a player to learn a guilds rules and respect them if you want to be a part of them. If you don't agree with their rules you don't join their guild, simple as that and everyone wins.
I would gather that with how you made this thread, then tried to get everyone "back on track" when they weren't agreeing with you, that there are things about your personality that bothered these guys so a one strike and you were out rule was applied. I don't know that I disagree with that at all. If I ran a guild and someone bothered me I would likely remove them before they even broke any rules simply with the reasoning "They bother me and it is my guild". I don't run guilds or even tend to join them because I don't like to deal with drama in my games, and this thread shows that drama and guilds still go hand in hand.

See, it is all about you. You used your situation as the centerpiece of your argument. The other people are not posting here and cannot defend themselves at all. Thus if your story does not make sense or has holes in it, we can't base the discussion on it and thus the discussion goes into freefall. If you kept your personal situation out of this, the discusion could have focused on the theoretical issue you seem to want to discuss.

i know it would be easy to lie. but then why woudl i even post this. im not sure why i would lie.
This is the Internet. It would be extremely foolish of us to not consider it a good chance that you are lying.
If I believed everything some stranger on the net told me, I would be either extremely rich with a gigantic penis or completely broke. Plus my WoW account would have been banned twenty times a week.

As a former guild leader a few times over I would say rules need to be flexible as does everything in nature, as a guild leader I know some of the most annoyingly talkative guild members may in addition break guild chest rules and take a bit more than allowed but maybe I overlook that because he is always willing and able to group up with other guild members, likewise as stated many times over there may be a guy who breaks that same rule equally but he never wants to group with anyone or is never available except to take from the guild coffers *shrug*. It's been said many times over some rules will be flexible and for me I would think all are to an extent and within reason.
Again all good lasting guilds are going to function this way whether they allow swearing or are a chirstian guild. Some rules will have flexibility and some may not just as some members will have more "political capital" as Bush loved to say built up.
but yeah, to call this game Fantastic is like calling Twilight the Godfather of vampire movies....
I have seen this far too much in MMO's lately. If what you have stated about the facts are true that is. Some indviduals let authority go to there head and become egomaniacs and power trippers. One of the biggest reasons every MMO beta I get into I try to push for a voting system to be implemented so abuse of power cannot happen. I have been a guild leader of many guilds and have seen the ugly side of this kinda thing. people bring personal issues with a indivdual into situations involving guild rules and then use everything in there power to bend the rules to get a person thrown out. Including trying to manipulate people in the guild towards there way of thinking.
A guild is usually formed with a group of people with the same ideas and likes. But in the MMO world there is no way to depose the leader of a guild or get rid of officers if leader is MIA when they abuse there powers and let personal feelings interfere with guild issues. I really wish developers would put in a function where guild members can intiate a vote to get rid of the offending leadership. Yes you can all leave a guild and fix it that way but that usually involves leaving everything worked hard to build behind. something most guild members cannot bear to do unless its really bad. Some games allow you to conact a GM and get the leadership removed but that usually only happens if they have been gone for an extended timeframe.
I do not know if we are getting the complete story or there were other issues and this was the final straw but I will give you the benefit of the doubt. I personally would speak with the guild leader if you feel this was uncalled for and you really miss your friends and want to return. Maybe this officer has been abusing there powers behindf the guild leaders back amnd he/she is unaware of the situation. If you have as many former guild mates behind you as you are stating then talking to the guild leader about the situation may result in the offending officer being removed from position nad the issue being solved. There are 2 sides rto every story of course but this would not be the first time I have heard of a officer letting power go to there head.

Based on this thread alone I would not want the OP as a guildie since he does not seem willing to accept criticism and seems unable to accept that others might not consider him a paragon of virtue. Even if his story is true, it seems like his is making a mountain out of a molehill. So some people in an online game did not like him. Big deal.

i could care less they kicked me accually. it pfhased me in the least. the only reaosn i made this thread was for opinions on what people would consiter a fair guild. but that fell though, the reason i even posted it because that is what gave me the idea for it, but that was a mistake.
and really i dont care fow how you are calling em a liar. i never met the guy besides the very last minutes that he kicked me. and if i has been repeat offending then why the hell would people defend me from being kicked. and if i was lieing then why would i even post this? why would i lie? why woudl i even bring it up?
