Chances are it's not "only that guy" - Chances are it's many, but he's the one who hd the power to boot your ass (get it?! :D ). The more you type, the more I understand why they (and yes, more than the one guy was in on it) did it.

Sir, I assure you I'm not passing judgement on you as a player or a person. We may be best buds in an MMO some day, so read this as my take on what you've been telling us. As a former guild leader of 500 people, I can almost guarantee you that there is more to this story than you're letting on. Chances are you either:

    • annoyed people

    • lied about what exactly happened

    • told someone something in confidence you shouldn't have

    • said something to someone and were overheard

    • used 'kickass' as a 'clever' way to bypass their rules (loophole)

No matter the situation, let it go! Really man...it's a guild. Big deal. Find one that better suits your language and maturity. This is an issue to be handled IN GAME, not on any forums...bringing it here demonstrates your lack of respect IMO.

well i know im better off without that guild leader.  someone pmed me to tell me to appologize. bit i wouldnt becasue to applogize to that would be againt my beleif. i said "kickass is just a movie. its not a big deal" someone said after me "kickass was a good movie too" (he was left alone) so the guy  rages and logs into every guild (it was an allience) trying to find me, so i tell him which one i am in, and say a nice goodbye to eveyone.

see i can unserstand a no cursing rule. cuseign can get out of hand, but if you are refrenceing a movie's NAME which you can read just walkign though wallmart. then there is something really wrong.

Well back in lotro we had the same thing happen.  We had this one person who had been warned several times about his actions.

Then one night he quoted a line  from a movie that had about 8 f bombs in a row, it was from one of Jack Nicleson movies.

We had an officer meating on the spot and boom, out. His defence was I was quoting a movie line.

All I can say is you did not fit their playstyle and it is better off for you and them to not be around each other.  Not trying to be judgemental, just saying to be kicked on the first office is harsh. Would be nice to know the entire history of the story.

oh yah that guy deserved it. even if it was only a quote from a movie it is still not ready for primetime.

buit really i gave the whole story.

    i said kickass

he said it was unacceptable for any guild member to do that.

my friend in the guild who knew him longer messaged me saying "hes does not mess around appologize before he kicks you!"

i refuse to appologize because its againt my morels because its a mokie title (not even something you need to go into the movie to see... it coudlb e read outside the move therters on posters a billboards it was everywhere.)

    he started hunting down

i asked if he did not like the movie,

sone else said "kickass was cool"(ignored probalby because he was already focused on me or thought it was me)

i tell him which guild i am in

i say "goodbye guys i prob wont be back ^_^ good luck"

    kicked.

Of all the times in your life to make a "morel" stance why the hell would you chose now to the be the time, when your saying you liked everyone else in the guild?  You got warned BY A FRIEND to just hurry up and say sorry, IT"S THE INTERNET YOU DON'T HAVE TO MEAN IT!  and what moral exactly was this that you where holding up?  whether someone esle said it or not was irrelavenat if this guy is changing toons/zoneing around looking for you to be kicked.

First off, I really have a hard time taking someone serious or believing anyone that refers to themselvelves with a small "i". It really just shows how little you view yourself. That being said, I can completely understand why you would think the word "ass" is no big deal or why you wouldn't care that it offends someone else since to you, it doesn't matter. It's a whole attitude thing really, and by the sound of things, it probably wasn't you saying the word "ass" that got you booted, it was probably your overall attitude. As being a lead of various guilds in various games, I can tell you that the last kind of person I want in my guilds is someone that doesn't have enough manners to care that other people have feelings, points of views, or think the rules are stupid and then have the boldness to argue them after they have agreed to them and then knowingly went against them.

Anyway, I agree with everyone else here, not to sweat it and find another guild that suits you better. After all, it is a multi massive. There must be a plethora of other guilds to chose from.

A tiny mind is a tidy mind...

I think what the majority of the posts on this thread, most of which you are ignoring, are trying to tell you is that you were the "bad drop".

Not very many have sided with you, which is simply due to the fact you were wrong.

I think it sounds like maybe you were in the wrong guild for you. Personally I think anyone that gets offended by a little profanity is a bit petty and childish. After all they are only words and they only have as much power as you choose to give them.

If you were being crude and vulgar towards another guild member I could see a little more reason for kicking you out but given the circumstances that you relayed, it sounds like they are perhaps a bit overly sensitive.  I realize that some guilds pride themselves on being family oriented and personally, I try to avoid these guilds because I have no desire to play with children. Maybe it's time for you to find a guild of grown ups.

The biggest thing I don't understand about a situation like this is that most games have a profanity filter and in most cases one has to go out of their way to turn it off. It seems like there are some people out there that will actually go out of their way to be offended. If this is the case, I say they can F*** off(censored for the children and prudes out there).

The player and the guild leaders don't mix and should go their separate ways. Plain and simple. It's only when unnecessary drama gets involved that people decide to complain, make a fuss over it, argue the reasoning, etc. It's a lot easier if the player and the guild just moves on. It's just a game.

Too true I've been in leadership positions on more than a few guilds I've taken part in far more guild meetings over discipline than I care to note, sometimes certain things certain people do just rub others wrong.  I've been in guild groups and heard conversations that I thought nothing of until that guild leader/member let me know what about the topic got to them, now honestly I play a game for fun and if any other emotion should enter the equation I don't deal with it anymore since bs in SWG so I've never cared either way until topics were brought to me.

We had one guild member who never really broke a single rule but what she did do was complain constantly, I took her with a higher level toon through the entire North Downs and the entire time she complained about everything from my characters powers to her own, we gave her nice equipment free of charge and she just continued to complain, in kin chat nothing but comlaints.  Well after about six or seven different complaints of her bringing people down guild leader called a meeting and I then noted I had noticed it too we gave her a choice if I remember right more than a warning but needless to say she didn't last another week.

I could name off many other instances but why if the op is reasonable he should be able to see the same thing.  I mean I just find it impossible to think that he has never been in any kind of trouble and if he hadn't that he hadn't noticed never seeing anyone else flex the rules as such.

And if I'm wrong about anything I've said and the op has never tested the limits, been warned, or involved in any other conflicts why would being kicked from a guild that stuffy warrant any feeling other than relief.  I don't curse in game ever and rarely speak of anything my character wouldn't say but I don't have a cow cause I see cursing and I've always wondered why people even link up with people so different than themselves.

but yeah, to call this game Fantastic is like calling Twilight the Godfather of vampire movies....

In most situations like this, there is more than one instance of problematic behavior. When I had run guilds at times in WoW, some people are just insanely annoying, always trying to push the limit, and basically "troll" the guild.

Perhaps you were one of these people. You may have been very ignorant of the no cursing rule, and you attempted to use "kickass" to push that boundary - a movie name with a swear word - perhaps to drum up an argument/drama over the rules, and the guild leader or whoever kicked you would have none of it.

Could be possible the dude just didn't like you personally, though, and kicked you out of spite, which is known to happen as well.

But with only one side of the story, I guess we'll never know.

i was not trying to push any boundry. i made an offhand comment (since i just saw the film btw) and thoguht it was funny because kcikass bot his ass kicked quite a bit. and i knew it would happen to me at that time too (it was a master level quest)

i am consitered a nice guy (dont need to beleive me) really i did not really make this thread about me to be perfectly honest. i really wanted this thread to be about guild rules in general... but i guess i screwed up and kind of amde it about me.

Profanity filters imo are only relevant in things like global, zone chat etc. If you're in a guild with specific rules you shouldn't be trying to find clever ways to skirt them, which is exactly what the op tried to do by referencing a movie named kickass, there are other movies where people were beat up that didn't require him to type that out.  You are right I always turn off my profanity filter because honestly when I see the profanity filtered I just want to read what the eff they actually typed haha, but rules are rules.  If he personally found the rules too goody goody as you say move on but it's unfair for all the branding of this guild for wanting to see the rules they set respected.

Far too often in these situations a guild is about the many while the person kicked is about themselves.  I've never seen an established guild where a person was kicked for one single isolated incident kickass may have been the straw that broke the camels back but he put it there knowingly.

you are makeing the assumtion that i did it on purpose. and you are stating it as fact when it is not.

the reason is aid it was because it was relevent to my acual situation. what happened in kickass was goign to happen to me. i was going to be beat to a pulp.

if that's really all you said, you should be happy they kicked you.  that guild sounds pathetic.  no warning?  if they've ever turned on their TV or went out in the last 3 months they would've known you were referring to a movie.

Ultimately the owner / creator / guild leader has final say.  He has his authority passed down to his officers and they act on his / her behal when they see something that needs to be acted on.   If his officers, people who he trusts and respects, say i kicked person X because of this, there is very little that will undo that.  PERIOD.   Thats just the way authority works.

If this guild meant that much to you --  you should have just said sorry, i meant these mobs were going to beat me up bad, and move on having fun with your friends.

A guild is allowed to set any rules it wants, and to enforce those rules in a way it sees fit. So it is 100% acceptable to kick a person for breaking a rule, as it is their guild and their choice.

A person who joins the guild has no right at all to ignore the rules and then whine about them.

I'd say this only required a warning and a reminder of the rules.. however we dont know if you've been warned already before in which case a kick would be in order...  Chances are you'll say you've never been warned before, just my experience on the internet.. regardless this seems like a personal matter and I'm confused as to why it was brought to the mmorpg forums for personal validation.. if someone knows they're right they usually dont go seeking others to agree with them.  This is in no way a slam at the OP, jusy mt opinion of the sheer number of 'personal problems' that end up on  these forums these days.
