Personally I would shrug it off and move on, I had joined a guild once and after about a week myself and a few members had gotten into a car discussion I am a chevy guy he was a ford guy, I am not the kinda guy that hollers and stomps feet about ford sucks chevy rules and all the garbage I just have had good luck with chevys, he on the other hand was on a rant about my camaro and how his mustang could kick my camaros butt, I said ok and moved on, a little later we got to talking about engine blocks I mentioned a few things about engine blocks and off he goes on a rant again about how I was wrong and he had been a mechanic for so many years and he knew all this stuff blah blah blah, then I was booted.
This had been the only time I had the chance to interact with the members aside from the admitedly brief conversation with the guy that invited me but, the first thing that came to mind for me was "oh well" and apparently his hatred of chevy lead him to want me out of the guild so be it I really didnt care.
While we can sit back and say the use of "kickass" was no big deal you have to understand to some people these things are a big deal that would be why they made the rule in the first place. This is why I ask before I join a guild about the rules both in chat or in any voice server they might have if they have a no swearing policy I won't join them because I think it is stupid but, other think it is the end of the world and the conflict is not worth it over a video game.
What I don't understand is that all the games I have played have a chat filter yet these people that think swearing is leading to the downfall of civilization insist upon turning the filter off so they see the swear word, in this case I imagine kickass would have made it past the filter but, the filter is there for a reason if you don't want to see it or are worried your kids might see it don't turn off the filter ........
That seemed relatively mild as a curse word anyway. If you can hear it in a prime time TV show, how bad could it be?
I was once in a guild that had very strict decency policy that caused me and another person to get reprimanded (and threatened with expulsion) for implying that a particular boss mob might be a crossdresser. "Children play this game and we're not that kind of guild!" was the reasoning we got from the officer who worked us over about it. (She'd appointed herself to the position of morality police.) The other person and I who got in trouble moved on to other guilds soon after that. Every guild has its rules and its own way of enforcing them. It's probably best to shrug it off.
Lol, people need to read what the OP wrote. He thinks he got kicked for merely "accidently" saying "Kickass," but by his own words, that's not what happened.
Here's what happened:
1. OP references the movie "Kickass," clearly knowing that it's a curse word even if in a title.
2. They have a swearing policy, which he knows about, and they were like, even if it's a movie title, we don't want you referencing curse words. Apologize so we can come to an understanding that you won't do it again.
3. He says, I won't apologize because I did nothing wrong (basically, screw your policy and authority, I'll do what I want).
4. They kick him.
All he had to say was "Hey, I didn't mean to curse, I was referencing a movie title. I'm sorry, if that offends the guild policy, I won't do it again."
So, they want him to basically agree not to do it again. He says, it's not wrong I will do what I want. Obviously, they should kick him.
Are they uptight? Maybe. But to me, both made their decisions, why he would want to complain about HIS decision on here is beyond me.
I find that in guild disputes, usually one party takes the low road (going onto a forum to complain about policy, guild, etc.), and the other party sometimes may take the high road (considering the matter closed, not going onto said forum to ignore flame war by going back and forth with first party). There are, as some have said, always two sides to the story, and you can guarantee you're not getting it all. There is always baggage, history, and attitude that come into play.
I don't know what the case is here, but I'm not going to read an original post and instantly develop a harsh mindset against the "offending guild" based on a single-sided incident report.

Why? maybe he wants to challenge the whole idea of "why do people blacklist words". Howard Stern has made a career out of challenging the concept of "why do people hate these things"
Kickass or Kickbutt or Kickbooty or kickrearend or kick buttox ALL mean the same thing but only one of them seem to be offensive to "some" because of the word "ass" which also is another word for donkey.
The word FRAK from the writers of Battlestar Galactica also challenged this perception of word context=hate....we all know it means "f*ck" but it's allowed by the FCC. IMHO this is blatent ignorance of those who just want to find something to hate or a scape goat for poor emotional management.
Slowly but surely the ignorance of the masses will be overthrown by those who are able to identify the real problem then expose it and challenge perceptions in order to bring about change. IE evolution

That is a lame argument. Why is anything wrong then. A society (whether a guild, a company, a city, country, etc) make up rules of what they deem is acceptable or not. In some African tribes it is acceptable to kill a man over insulting you. Should we have that here. There it is not wrong. Your society determined it was wrong about 200 years ago when they outlawed dueling. The word is wrong because the guild was founded I guess on the belief that it is wrong. Either overthrow the guild or get out. Society should not have to bend to the minority for fear of offending them when the majority are offended by the what the minority are doing.

TBH that anology is acinine since it compares "killing hate" vs "killing people".
To this point I have not challenged what the guilds rules were since they have every right to determine a rule set as they see fit.
I have challenged basic perception of how things are viewed and taken.
I agree with the whole argument about profanity. If two words have the same meaning, what makes one more offensive than the other? Is it really just the sound of the word. People who get truly offended by curse words tend to not be very bright. Sure, if it's directed at you in a derogatory manner that's different but if it's just the actual sound of the words that offend you, then you really need to grow up and stop being so overly sensitive. As I said before, words only have as much power as we give them.
As far as the OP goes, there may or may not be more to his story. Either way, it is the guild's prerogative to kick him, even if it is for something so stupid and petty. Of course, if they really are that easily offended and that quick to kick members, it doesn't sound like they are a very worthwhile guild in the first place and they probably did him a favor by kicking him out. Now he can find a guild that fits him better.
what do you think about this. you are playing a game and you mention a movies name that has the mildest wear it it ever. "im going to solo this and beat them all up like kickass did"
do you beleive that is kick worhty? mentioning a movie like that is really that bad? i mean if its really so bad then you must never take your kid anywhere.
It's their guild and they are free to kick whoever they want. It might of been a ridiculous reason but like it said, it's their guild and therefore it is kick worthy.
