1. Asheron's Call: Far and away my favorite. A huge sandbox with good mechanics, great immersion and lore and a real sense of being in a vast world.
2. Dark Age of Camelot: A good game but primarily for the RvR. I'm amazed that no one (including Mythic itself, dang it WAR) hasn't copied the 3 sided faction world. It easily and effectively prevents the kind of annoying lopsided pvp experience that's so common.
3. World of Warcraft: Lot's of content, and it's colorful? meh.

Wow, what a fun topic. I like that there are so many options to choose from. You can really get a good feel for everyone's interests in gaming through inspection of their choices. I have only ever played WoW and Ryzom so I really have no third choice. Sorry to disappoint.
umm i guess for me to decide i have to go with the ones i played the longest so tryin to remember them in order
1 for me is Eeverquest Online Advantures, played this one the longest/steadiest no breaks where i left and came back lasted 2 years of playing no other MMOs other than EQOA.. was also my first real MMO (played PSO years ago on dreamcast). did go back a few times off and on tho after i quit the first time.
2 umm i guess maye Aion played it for like 7 or 8 months without playing any other MMO before i quit but when i quit i never went back. well i tried to go back after th 2.0 patch but it won't patch for me and i just don't care enough to redownload and reinstall the whole game.
3 i think was wow lasted like 5 months before i started getting bored but i went back off and on from dec 04-idk 08 and all together probably played for 1.5 year or so. when i went back to try WoTLK i lasted a few weeks and didn't go back till like a month ago but i didn't even really play it. just looked around a little one day for that whole month i payed.
anymore tho i don't play any MMO, think i'm just bored in general with them but i keep checking around here hoping something will come out and get that old feeling back i use to get playing them. hoping SWTOR i will like, maybe its just being bored of the fantasy settings who knows, but hoping and NOT reading up on the game at all really. just gunna go in blind with no expectations at all.
We need a MMORPG Cataclysm asap, finish the dark age of MMORPGS now!
"Everything you're bitching about is wrong. People don't have the time to invest in corpse runs, impossible zones, or long winded quests. Sometimes, they just want to pop on and play." "Then maybe MMORPGs aren't for you."
2. Shadow Bane "Had tech issues and was old, but it was one of the most fun pvp games ever"
3. DDO "Now if it would have more of a reason to endgame besides for better gear then this game would be great. What's the point of having the best gear when there is nothing to use it for?"

PS - All mammals have nipples.
Get over it already.
Never did get around to it, so here goes.
EverQuest
Dark Age of Camelot
And a toss up, Vanguard and or Earth and Beyond...
That Guild Wars 2 login screen knocked up my wife. Must be the second coming!
Everquest
Dark Age of Camelot
Planetside
I can easily anwser this, at this current time.
Ultima Online
Everquest 1
World of Warcraft
Top three
! - Shadowbane
2 - DAoC
3 - Eve
1) Asherons Call (innovative and interesting) my first MMO and first drudge kill.
2)DAOC (best time ever)
3) WOW ( has turned stale)
I dont know if any MMO will ever be as good as these to me. DAOC 2 might get me into MMOs again.
What i have found in most sandboxes are discarded toys and cat poop.
no order
Anarchy Online, SWG(before it was ruined), Dark Age of Camelot
WoW
Lotro
Runescape 2004-2006
Games I'm really hyped for:
Guild Wars 2
Cataclysm

DAOC, LOTRO, Ultima Online
Vack
FF XIV - the single worse game to cross my hard drive, ever.
UO, UO and UO.
There has been no game to as much as touch it.
My top 3 have to be
1. Dark Age of Camelot
2. Ultima Online
3. Shadowbane
IMO DAoC had the best pvp ever.. wish Mythic made DAoC2 instead of WAR.
UO - Innovative, and still has a ton of feature and things that games still don't have...it is easier to do, due to graphics, but its still doing it.
EQ - Next step in development, they didn't call it Evercrack for nothing.
DAoC - 3 faction RvR was magnificent and another innovation in game play/style.
I think those 3 all brought new and unique things to the table, so they are my top 3.
Everquest 1: untouched Pve king
Ultima Online: untouched sandbox king
Daoc: untouched Pvp king

Runescape
Sandbox-MMO
1 - Planetside

1. Guild Wars "Plus expansions"
2. Shadow Bane "Had tech issues and was old, but it was one of the most fun pvp games ever"
3. DDO "Now if it would have more of a reason to endgame besides for better gear then this game would be great. What's the point of having the best gear when there is nothing to use it for?"
Guild Wars 1, Jade Dynasty, King of Kings III
Original EverQuest
StarWars Galaxies
World of WarCraft
Everything else was wannabe of these 3.
My unbiased opinion:
Original Everquest
EVE Online
World of Warcraft (I hate what this game stands for, but I concede it's probably the most influencial of all modern MMO's)
My biased opinion:
Original Everquest
EVE online
Dark Age of Camelot
1. LOTRO
2. SWG CU Version
3. Tie - Vanguard/AoC
EQ
Planetside
DAoC
