this is fair only for ppl that trained learning from day one
is good but still not fair
How is it unfair?..
Those that trained them get to spend the points invested in other stuff.
And those that trained fun skills instead are given the stats so they can now train even faster.
ppl dont train learning skill from day one because dont have money, my main dint train from day one but my alts did.
you spend 2/3 months training stuff whit learnings at lvl 3 that means your rate for training other skills is slower that if you have +12 to all stats from day one, there are ppl that never maxed learning skill and they play EvE for years this ppl dont get the +12 so they learned all skills at a slower rate
now you get why is not fair ?
Those people will get that +12 now so IT IS fair...
yes but that dont compensate them because a player that had basic learnings to lvl 4 and advanced learnings to lvl 3 has spend more time training fro a full BS t2 that a new char whit +12 will ever spend
this punish ppl that dint maxed learnings skills, it punish the the casual the casual player, it punish the player that dint grind learnings
take EvEmon put all learnings to 5 then pick a full t2 BS fit make sure you get the SP/Hour column ON then drop some of the lvl 5 and take a look at the SP/Hour column

1) Everyone will get +12, regardless if they trained learning skills or not. 2) Those who trained learning skills will get their skill points reimbursed.
No one will really get harmed skill point wise.

All I can say is...IT"S ABOUT TIME!!! They've been talking about getting rid of learning skills for years. I'm glad they're finally getting around to doing it. It'll be better for the game and the community.
*trains a few learning skills that train faster than other stuff*
I don't know what to think of this, really.
Although, I guess it's nice. Mostly because you won't have people screaming to noobs that they NEED to get their learning skills maxed as the first thing.. :P

As long as they give me attribute points and reimburse the spent SP, yeah, I'm fine with it.
Also, for the guy who was butthurt because they used fortnight, you missed out on a hilarious Q & A session. Perhaps you shouldn[object Window]t judge a dev blog by the first sentence, especially when the rest of that paragraph has a distinct old-English, Christmas-time flavor (so their use of fortnight was somewhat justified).
I'm anxious to see the implementation before casting too much judgement on it. Initially, I like the idea of being able to redistribute the points and the base attribute bump.
At least one plus: This should remove/reduce at least one criticism of EvE thought. That being the belief that you need to sit through weeks of training Learning skills before training other skills that a player might be more interested in. Regardless of whether you feel this is a valid complaint or not, it seems to be repeated often enough.

Finally. Awesome for newbies. We oldies still have molah for +5 implants to pwn all lesser beings, even when logged off. No double speed for disposable alts though.
How many new capital pilots will we see in one day?
Hopefully I'll finally be able to finish tech 2 large guns =]
I ghost trained a lot of my learning skills back in the day, so for me it genuinly is free skill points XD
Great thing for new players too, not only do they have not have to spend most of their starting days training learning skills but the training time on all those skills will be much faster also.
Good stuff. I might just give EvE another go when the xpac comes out.

Ok, so about a fortnight ago (that's two weeks for those of you who don't speak Proper English)
Arrogance, arrogance, arrogance.
The change seems ok, just wondering how remaps and specialized attribute distribution shift those pretty graphs...
I didn't know what a fortnight was...most english-speaking people don't...thus, the joke. It's not arrogance, it's funny.
Shame I just spent all that cash on Logic I. Oh well.
The word fortnight is not used that much in spoken English but I am pretty sure most people know the meaning of it. If you've ever watched the news or read a newspaper you would have come across it..... ^_^
And shame on the dude making fun of non-native speakers -_-
I got flamed alot for my views on some asspects of this game and several will know what im referring too. Seems like slowly but surley things are happening to level the playing feild and this will not be liked by the long term folks. Item shops and either an on off pvp switch or new server. Any bets
You keep telling yourself that. CCP have nailed their colours to the single-server mast. get over it.
Good stuff. I might just give EvE another go when the xpac comes out.

No one is making fun of anybody. This is a case of not understanding the humour. Folks, you're going to need a thicker skin if you plan on running around this planet for awhile.
On topic: great change, and it's been a long time coming.

A company based in Iceland (97% of the population there consider Icelandic as their native language) making fun of non-English people? Stop trolling or get thicker skin.
Why would anyone think this is a bad thing? are people just pissed that they trained those skills already and now new players wont have too? i dont get people sometimes.
I'm kinda weirded out by the fact that this change resulted in 15 pages of positive posts on shc and two pages of whine threads on eveo.
Something is wrong.
minmatar brutors can remap now, old chars have some basic stats at 4 not at 5 so if you remap you lose one point because eve will put +1 to your stats if you have 4 on them, so my bet is now ppl can remap and dont lose this points
also all player that have all learning skills to 5 (5376000 SP) will enjoy a advantage of 72 sp/h or better said a advantage for the next 8 years because the new system wont allow to train skill so fast

Total skill points will remain the same though...
This is a welcomed change to get new players into choosing their profession faster and give vets the chance to train skills they want better.
Hmmm, what to do with my extra 5 mil + SP.....tough decision:d
Fantastic and long awaited change.

I trained up the learning skills, the change looks good as far as I can tell.

Give me liberty or give me lasers
For those who haven't understood, you're losing NOTHING.
People who trained these skills will get all the skill points reimbursed to redistribute on other skills.
Everyone is getting 12 attribute points on EACH attribute, which is the exact same thing you would get by maxing all learning skills.
They're merely removing this time sink that especially newbies would suffer when looking for maximum training efficiency.

I just started Eve, so this may be a newbish question, but how do players learn skills now? Do they just buy the book and use it?
Playing - EVE, Wurm
Retired - Final Fantasy XI, Anarchy Online, Mabinogi
Waiting - ArcheAge, Salem

You still learn skills the same way. The removal of "learning skills" are those lame ass +1 attribute skills that decrease training time.
Playing: Rift, LotRO
